When I start my car the radio has no sound and the volume knob does not respond. I need to switch to another function in order to restore sound... ie, if it is on radio I need to switch to AUX. I have a video adapter installed, but it has always worked fine. This seemed to just start happening out of the blue.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Phaeton that the main volume knob has broken on. The dealer tells me that the only way that they can provide a replacement is with the whole unit (nav screen and all) at a cost of over $2000. It seems to me that this part MUST be available somewhere for $20 or so.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Toyota Matrix. The radio volume control knob does not change the volume. The volume is just constantly stuck at a set volume (luckily a reasonably soft one). I pulled the knob plastic cap off and sprayed some contact cleaner in there but nothing changed. What caused this problem and what I can try? I have taken the radio out and opened it (changed led bulbs) before so I feel comfortable doing that and tinkering around.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius and I noticed for the first time today that the volume control knob stopped responding when I twisted it. I turned off the radio off then back on and it appeared to be working again.
My car has about 41,000 miles on it so I'm not sure if the warranty is still applicable.
Right next to the tire pressure monitoring reset button (situated above the gas and brake pedals) there is a knob that when turned all the way right will click as if it was in an "off" position. What is this knob for? After doing a search, someone posted it is for volume control of the door locking chirp noise. Does it have any other function, or is this its real function at all? I didn't test it yet.
View 11 RepliesWhen I got my Prius, the volume knob didn't work, and I thought I could live with it. Steering wheel controls work fine except when I'm turning the wheel, then I have to chase the buttons. I really want the volume knob to function properly.
The post that inserts into the head unit volume receiving column is sheared off and stuck in there. I tried super-gluing it back together, but that didn't give me the slight bumpy sensation when I turned it. I thought it would at least depress, but not when it was superglued together. It won't pop in and out when I press on it when it was glued.
I have a 2011 Prius Four with JBL/navi package. When I go to turn the volume knob up or down the navi screen pops open as if I were going to eject or insert a cd. Only sometimes will it close back up when I press the eject/close button otherwise I have to twist the volume knob back and fourth until it randomly closes. THEN, when I set FM/AM station presets, power off the car, power car back on, the screen shows "loading" and everything resets except for the Bluetooth phone settings. Is there any firmware update I need to install via usb?
View 1 RepliesIs there a possibility of the radio itself overheating causing this issue. I experienced this the other day, was driving around and the volume control on the radio no longer worked. Could turn it off and all other functions worked but the volume could only be changed from the tracer buttons on the steering wheel. Shutting the car off and back on worked but for how long? Seems that this should be a recall since several owners have experienced this issue with the jbl stereo.
View 7 RepliesI discovered shortly after I bought my (used) 2012 C 4 that I couldn't turn off the radio. The volume knob didn't push in to turn off. Not a big deal, but I mentioned it to the dealer and they ordered me a new replacement knob. In the meantime, I just swapped the tuning knob over to the volume side and it's all fine. But I also discovered that the tuning knob side does push in – even with the broken knob – and not only that, it beeps when you push it. What is it supposed to be doing other than tune stations/change tracks? The Entune radio has a separate function for tone, balance, fader, etc., so it isn't doing that with the knob.
View 2 RepliesThis morning while attempting to unlock the Touareg, the remote failed to "talk" to the Touareg. We just purchased our Touareg last Wednesday. The low battery warning was indicated when we bought it. However, battery had enough juice so that the remote still worked. I put a new battery in the remote the other day and remote worked like a champ, plus the warning went away. Remote was working great until this morning. Small green light on remote lights up to indicate signal is going out but Touareg doesn't respond.
I unlocked the truck by the key but I do not know how to disarm the alarm with the key. I tried turning and holding the key toward unlock but no luck, the truck does unlock this way, but the red lights still flash indicating alarm is still active. Tried a second new battery in the remote, no luck. Finally, after about 20 minutes, I left the Touareg in the driveway and took our other car to work. What do I do to get the remote back in sync with the vehicle? Also, how do I deactivate the alarm with the key in case the remote fails again?
When I start my 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited the left temperature control knob flashes intermittently for a few seconds. See 17 second video. This has been happening for the past three weeks. What is causing this and how to repair it?
View 3 RepliesAn intermittent problem has showed up over the last few weeks that is quite distressing when it occurs.
When starting the car, the radio comes on a full volume. Turning volume control knob does not work, but only turning off the radio or turning off the car. [This only occurs if the radio was left on when the car was shut off previously.]
Also, the problem is noticeable if the radio is off and the buttons on the navigation system are pushed resulting in a high-pitched "beep." Then I turn the car off, then on again, and everything is back to normal.
This happens about once or twice every couple of weeks.
First the wife crushes the underbody on a huge rock cutting a corner. Now she spilled a whole pop down the shift lever, and its glued shut - it will hardly move. I know how to get the console off, but How do I take just the 'shift knob' off? I need to get the flexible piece underneath it off so we can wash all the parts.. I have the upper console part off.
View 11 RepliesOn my 4WD selector, the small icon that shows the 4 wheels with 2 of them angled (the right most choice if turning the knob) is showing up in my info center on my 2004 Touareg. As well, all the lights on that 4WD selector know are blinking. I can't find anything about this in the manual.
View 1 Replies2004 CD Navigation. The issue is that I can't get the damn navigation volume to go any lower. The navigation volume is a touch too loud relative to the music volume. When I try to lower the navigation volume, it's already at the lowest mark on the scale.
(Yes I set the navigation volume while it's speaking). Maybe there is some way to reset the mid-point in volume and then I can lower it?
I got in my truck yesterday morning and as soon as I turn the key, the volume starting increasing to as loud as it would go, as I attempted to turn it down, it fights me and turns up. The only way to stop the madness is to turn off the radio all together. I then noticed that I was unable to access my MFI from the steering column and the Volume buttons do not work there as well.
If I cycle power on the stereo a few times the volume increase will stop......until I touch any setting on the stereo, then the gremlins take over once again.

I have a 2006 with the DVD Nav radio. Sometimes when I am turning and going over a bump (curb, speed bump), the volume jumps up dramatically. Even when the radio is on mute, it will come out of mute and start playing substantially louder than the volume was set prior to mute. At first, I assumed I must be hitting the VOL+ button on the steering wheel but then I realized that it often happened when my hand was on the completely another side of the wheel (with the 2006 power steering change, it's pretty easy to turn one-handed). I am downright positive this isn't user-error.

View 14 RepliesFor the past week or so, maybe even 10 days I have noticed that when I start the Touareg and press the Gas to go it hesitates, bad. I mean hesitate is an Understatement, it just doesn't move. This happens when it has been sitting for more than a few Hours, however when the Engine is warmed up this does not happen.
