I will be receiving my 2010 Prius in a day or two. The road condition in Pakistan are not that favorable for the imported cars as they get hit from underneath alot. So I'll need to put 1" spacers on top of the rear suspension. that will require disassembling the shock absorbers. I just need to know how to disassemble the interior to gain access to the suspension nuts inside the car?
View 6 RepliesOn my 99 at the tip of the springs there is what looks used to be plastic wear spacers between the leafs. Mine are worn out and I think it is part of a squeak noise I am chasing.
What that part would be, where I could get them, and do I have to break down the leaf assembly to change them or could I raise the truck by the frame and take the load off the springs enough to get the in?
I almost bought a Gen 2 Prius, right before the introduction of the Gen 3. Then I waited a few years before I finally bought my Gen 3 Prius.
Don't let this out. But it's bothering me that I'm no longer at the top of the Standard Prius evolutionary chain.

Every time I go over a bump, the term Independent Rear Suspension pops in my head. An instrument panel that has multiple colors. I can only grunt and slobber and take what comfort I can from the pale light of the vacuum tube like glow of the Gen 3 instrument panel.
I fixed a slow tire leak today and in the process I examined the rear suspension closely. I had one rear corner jacked up and could easily see the difference in position of both rear wheels compared to the frame. The difference was only in the range of 1 inch. Mind you one wheel was in the air, and the other was bearing the doubled weight.
I also examined the substantial torsion bar with it's C-shaped cross-section and closed edges. I don't see how any additional anti-sway bars could benefit this very stiff arrangement.
I know that members that installed rear anti-sway bars raved about performance increase.
And I have coil overs, I'm not super low but pretty low and every time I get my alignment done they say they can't so anything about the rear having so much negative camber. And it is really eating up the inside sidewalls of my tires like crazy.

View 14 RepliesHow to remove the spacer from the rear-end, spring and axle housing. If so, would it be the best to remove one at time etc. Must they be re-located below the axle or totally removed. I don't have a hoist to work from only floor jacks.
View 14 RepliesI have an 02 f150 2WD with a "leveling" kit. It was on the truck when I bought it. However, the front sets noticeably higher than the rear. The rear has lifting blocks, while the front has the lifted spindles as well as the coil spring spacers. At least I think they are spacers. I had to replace lower control arm bushings a while back, and there were black plastic rings on top of the springs. Can I remove the spacers? If I can, I plan on doing that and replacing the rear blocks with whatever I need to get the stance back. I like the height of the truck now, just hate the front being higher than the rear. I do pull my boat with it.

View 9 RepliesI recently purchased a Rear Bumper Protector for 2010-2014 Toyota Prius for my 2014 PIP. I thought I had it in the correct position when I removed the adhesive strips to install it but realized the next day that the curvature is not lined up properly causing a gap in between the bumper and the protector. My stomach sank when I realized this error.

View 18 RepliesI recently installed my FK Silverlines and they ride great and look even better. However, they are very clunky. In fact, my whole front end is clunky. Last night I double checked all bolts and retorqued everything with load on the suspension by using a floor jack under the control arm. It sounds like everything is loose and coming apart.

View 14 RepliesIve seen this also on some 4runners. Ive had several vehicles many years old with no rust underneath at all and I check today and sure enough, some rust on the rear axle and in front suspension arms. I checked the lexus warranty and it is unclear whether this is covered.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 GX470. It has some sort of automatic rear suspension height adjustment. When it is malfunctioning the rear of the car is jacked up like I have pimped it out. I use the height adjustment button but when I resume driving the car moves back into the neutral position which is not neutral at all it is jacked to the top. I had the sensors replaced once for $1,000 but within a year it was doing the same thing.
Now the light flashes to lower the back end but the back end doesn't move. I am stuck in the jacked up mode.
I bout a 2010 AWD LS460 in July and immediately noticed noises coming from the rear and front. The rear was a loud thud going over certain bumps and the front is making rattling noises. I lowered the windows and went down a rather bumpy block and the car sound like the bottom is falling out. I took it to the dealer and they had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the rear air shocks to come in. They gave it back to me and did not address the front. Now the service manager is going away for two weeks and wants me to come back if I still feel the need to have the from done. The master tech stated the front left suspension needs replacing. I feel they are trying to drag this out so they dont have to pay for the repairs. The car has 80K and was bought from Bay Ridge Lexus and is not under CPO.

View 9 RepliesWhen I drive over quick choppy bumps in pavement I get a rattle in the rear of the suspension, but only when the bump is on one side. When the bump is long and activates both rear wheels, like a speed bump or a large road crack I don't get the rattle.
The sound seems to be worse on the right side and I can't really figure it out. Anything specific I should look out for?
ok, its been 9-10 months now, and i have only 3500 miles on my gx.just looked at the back wheel wells.
The left side of the truck in the back is sitting about 1.5 inchs higher than the right rear? I measured the distance between the rims and the edge of the panel in the back. I am baffled. I raised it, lowered it, and still unequal height. Its going to the dealer on wednesday.
