My 2007 Prius wont unlock with clicking the unlock on my keys, or manually unlocking (it turns but does not unlock). I just took it for service 2 weeks ago and its been fine. I drove it as recently as yesterday no problem. I have both sets of keys. it just seems completely unresponsive.

With the gen 2 you never had to take the fob out of your pocket even with locking doors. You simply just pressed the little black button on the handle and off you went. Is there a way to trigger the car to lock with a gen 3 like this? I tried swiping my finger which would normally unlock the car but nothing.
Or does the gen 3 now require you to dig for a fob and press the button there?
Prius sat in my garage for about a month without moving went to start it up had 0 power, the unlock button on the keys wouldn't even open the doors. So I tried to jump start the car which would kind of work. The car would turn on for a few secs maybe 5 sec then turn right back off. So had the battery tested and came back as bad battery.

We use both keys everyday, but I sent my daughter to store and she calls me and says the key won't open the door using the Fob or manually. I bring her my key and I can't get in the car either. When you press any button on either Fob absolutely nothing happens except the lil red light on the Fob blinks.
When using the key manually turning to the left does nothing, turning to the right causes a click that you can hear and feel but the door is still locked. Nothing has changed. The only thing different that she did was when she got out she hit the lock button on the door instead of using the Fob once she was out. ( she's not use to using Fob because her 93 SC400 Fobs don't work). So what happened here, what broke? Or did somehow she activate some Anti-Theft system or something? What do I need to do?
I can't get my driver door to unlock. I've tried the key, manually form inside and electronically with the door lock but nothing works. I watched a video on dissembling the door but I need to get it open first. Any tip on how I can get it unlock/open. I was also wondering what the problem is with the lock so what to look for when I finally get it open and the panel off. I'm getting tired of crawl through the passenger side.
View 6 RepliesSometimes the locks in the doors do not lock or unlock and I have to use a key or do it manually if its not the drivers door. Only in a certain range of temperatures does this problem occur. It happens when it is roughly between 65 and 85 degrees out.
It will not have this issue when it is cold nor will it happen when it is beastly hot, just when its a bit warm. I press the lock button on the fob and all but the drivers door or the door right behind it will lock. It is frustrating and I want to know if there is something I can do to prevent this from persisting and to know if the locks will eventually fail completely if it goes unchecked.

I came out to get into my car today and pressed the keyfob to unlock and nothing. Went inside, same deal with my backup and valet key. I tried to scan with vag com with the alarm going off and I could link up, but not to the immobilizer or lock system. I did get both key 1 and key 2 adaptation surpassed codes. Even when I manually unlock the drivers door the alarm does not go off and I cannot roll up my windows with the key or unlock any other doors with the key. Things have been strange lately too, every time I lock the car and set the alarm the doors themselves locks don't sink down but the alarm is activated allowing anyone to get into the car but alarm goes off.

Tried them this week and they did not work the locks. I first thought that the locks were frozen. Not the case. Stopped by the dealer and he suggested spraying WD40 in the locks. Didn't work. Got a new 'blank' cut by the dealer in case the key was worn, didn't work. What might be the issue? I was thinking that the wrong cylinders were put in the truck on the assembly line. I have a key fob remote and keyless entry but it would be nice if the key unlocked the doors in an emergency.
View 6 RepliesI noticed the lights were staying on after the switch is turned off and engine off. I thought the lights might just stay on for a few minutes, they were still on an hour later and now I can't unlock the doors with either the key fob or the key. Not sure what to do next.

I know the battery is dead so the remote won't work, but I cannot even unlock the door with the key, twisting it back and forth and nothing happens. I am just trying to get under the hood so i can jump the car, but no way to unlock the door. It is a 2002 SC430 , is the key supposed to work ? Or does the car need battery for the key to twist and unlock the door?
View 9 Replies Prius owner, Just bought it 3 days ago! 2007 no nav system, but the key fob is the silver logo and has the key button on the lower dash...so I assume it is a smart key system. However, the key fob will not unlock or lock the car, the panic button doesn't work either. The car will only start with the fob in the slot.
Why will it start the car only in the slot? I changed the battery out in the fob and it still didn't lock/unlock. I didn't try the smart key start with the new battery...I don't even know if I have a smart start. Why does it not open/lock the car?

View 2 RepliesI have an '07 ES350. I was riding my motorcycle today and the key to my Lexus fell out of my pocket at 140mph. I recovered it to find that it popped semi-open. The key battery had become loose and damaged. The microchip looks just fine, as well as the key fob itself. I replaced the key battery and the key was not detected by the car. I used the procedure to start the car by holding the fob up close to the start button. It worked just fine, but the key fob will no longer lock and unlock the car.
View 2 RepliesI don't own a Prius, but my parents own two identical 2002 models (each with 120k miles).
My mother's car wasn't driven for nearly a month (hip replacement), and when they tried to start it last week, the ready light would blink 3 times - but no cranking.
After taking it to the dealer, they were quoted $4600 to replace the traction battery and ECU. We did the mandatory research on rebuilt batteries, but with only a vague diagnosis from the dealer, we were not convinced that this was the (only) problem.
So, my brother and I decided to swap the ECU, then the battery from my father's working Prius to my mother's - thereby proving the issue. Upon removing the 'dead' battery from mother's car, I decided to open the module, and check each battery. We measured anywhere from 3.0 to 6.4V on the individual cells - and 7.0V to 11V on the paired cells. It was clear that the batteries had discharged unevenly. The total charge remaining was about 151V - still above the 40% SOC minimum I'd read about.
We then bought 5 x 10A chargers from Walmart, and connected each to a pair of modules. Set the charge to rapid (10A) and waited 30 minutes (or until the charger indicated full). After 2 hours, all 19 pair were charged fully - with each reporting 15.7V +/- 0.5V. The total power was about 295V.
We reassembled the battery, re-installed it, and the car started immediately. We let it sit running, until it cycled off on its own. About 5 min later, the ICE fired again to charge the 12V battery - but it threw a P3006 error code. It showed a PS + MAIN + battery icon on the MFD. Using an OBDII scan tool, we cleared the error, and drove the car for a few miles. The error code did not return during that drive - but did one more time after letting it cycle off/on automatically. After clearing the code a second time, it never repeated again.
My assumption is that the 300V HV charge was above the 80% SOC and it didn't like that. But after a few cranking cycles, and the tendency for the battery to discharge back to it's rated output, the error no longer repeated.
I have a question about manually calculating mpg. How exactly can I do that? Is it hard to do it? And compare to the mpg calculated by the car computer, which is more accurate?
View 15 RepliesMy wife said that her keys stopped locking/unlocking doors. I checked the keys and replaced the battery just to be sure. No change. Older keys also couldn't unlock/lock the car.
Both keys can start the car and has blinking red LED flushing when any buttons pushed. Is there a "Remote" button somewhere in a car to allow remote operation?
2007 RX400h 110k mi.
When I unlock my door by just touching the handle it only opens the driver door and if I am at the passenger door it only opens the passenger door. Is there a way to open all the doors without having to take the keys out of my pocket and hit the unlock button? I want to be able to open all doors by just touching the handle.

View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 prius and I realized today that the driver side rear door will not lock. All the other doors lock except the rear driver side door. I tried locking it using the remote, but it didn't lock. I tried locking it with the lock button in the car by the driver which didn't work. When i try to push the lever by the door handle, it doesn't move.

Can I manually download whatever it is that needs to be updated rather than waiting for the message again?
