A thin blanket is caught in the lock of the rear hatch door. I have removed the cover on the utility box inside the car, and moved the lever but that did not work. I can hear the mechanism working when pressing the unlock but the door does not release. I tried pulling the blanket but it does not budge. I don't want to cut the blanket away because I could not reach what is stuck in the mechanism.

View 4 RepliesWith the car off and me standing at rear hatch and it is raised I pushed the latch closed manually and I can't figure out how to release it back to the unlatched position. I tried the door locks to no avail.
As an aside I was doing this to troubleshoot why my alarm is going off alot. I have a relative new yellowtop battery installed and will replace the fob battery later.
I have been having trouble trying to release the lever under the hood on my 2009 Jetta. the interior lever seems to be working but when I attempt to depress the hood lever it won't budge! I like to check my oil on a regular basis and I have never had this challenge before. I'm also worried that if I am able to release it that I will not be able to secure it afterwards, rendering my vehicle inoperable. I am strongly considering just taking it for an oil change and "springing" the dilemma on the garage.
View 3 RepliesThe release hatch in back of the 2010 thru 2015 Prius is horrible in the winter. It freezes and gets stuck causing the back hatch not to open. Maybe they should have had some kind of setup like the back window defroster where it defrosts the hatch...
View 6 RepliesBack door my 2007 prius Wont open I've opened it with the manual latch from the inside underneath in the luggage compartment and reset the power locks but it doesn't make any difference I still can't open the door from the outside.
View 4 RepliesThis happened a few days ago, that the driver's side door handle does not release the latch and let the driver door open. we can open the door fine from inside. the remote key un-locks/locks the door fine. What I've tried :
- Slamming the door hard a few times,
- Pulling both the inside and outside door handles at the same time
- Greasing the latch mechanism on the door end (what hooks onto the latch)
Today I removed the lock cylinder, but from what i can see with the cylinder removed the door handle looks ok (no broken or missing pieces). What would be the next thing to do?

I hear the electrical activity of the door lock mechanism.....locking and unlocking the door but the door latch is "frozen" closed and will not release. Inner and/or exterior door handles fail to release the latch no matter how many times they are pulled. Red Led on the top of the door pannel functions normally.
View 4 RepliesI did read all of the topics in the FAQ and I tried the tricks to reset the automatic trunk, yet still no luck. I notice the latch is stuck in the down postion -- could that be part of my problem? I noticed some water under the spare therefore I'm eager to get this fixed asap.
I also made a road trip on the freeway yesterday in some very nice weather and the AC wasn't cold -- I had it all the way on "Low". I'll have the dealer check that out also. Apparently the previous owner in Vegas used up all of the cars cold air.
I have a 2010 Prius and noticed that lately I sometimes have to press either lock or unlock several times before the little black and red switch moves to either lock or unlock.
View 2 RepliesDoor panel has been off a few times to see what is up. drove it down the road a few times with the panel OFF to see if I could find the rattle...and it was quiet. when the panel goes back on, rattle comes back.
Now...where should I look at? is it one of the lock/door latch rods vibrating against the panel? that is about the only thing I can figure...
The passenger door of my golf mk4 is stuck after I read through the forums it seems that the little latch inside the handle has been super glued maybe the previous owner had problems with the distance of it. Any way I can remove the super glue? I will provide a picture to illustrate. it can neither open inside or outside. [IMG][/IMG]......

It started with the keyfob not locking the left (driver) door from the outside and progressed into not locking the left door with the inside automatic switch. Now the left back door will no longer lock with the either device. I think I have narrowed it down to the switch or the door solenoid, but I am lost on the possible problem in all honesty.
View 7 RepliesSince I had my '02 I've had the child safety lock on the passenger side rear door on (active). I went to disable it (you know, stick the ignition key in and turn it 90 degrees to the side without the child's picture) and I'm still unable to open the door from the inside.
Everything else with the door works fine. The power locks work. Even pulling the handle twice pushes the lock button to the up position. And opening the door from the outside works as it's supposed to. The only thing I cannot do is open the door from the inside. Have I missed anything?
Yesterday went to fill up and the push feature on the fuel door would not open it. The door would pop out about 1/4 inch and would not release open even with a forceful tug. Played with it for some time pushing and couldn't get it to release. I actually left the gas station with no fuel. when I got home it worked fine so back to the gas station. Never had this Issue before and I go through fuel like its my job.
View 6 RepliesHappened on my mk6 now on the 20th! When I go to hit the switch for the gas tank release it is completely silent. Could that be the module? Half a tank left so not to worried about bringing it somewhere.

View 3 RepliesI have an '01 Santa Fe and love it, except for the fact that I can no longer fold the passenger side of my rear seat. We recently moved and I guess one of the kids put the rear seats back up and didn't think to make sure that the strap that goes to the latch release was where it belonged, because now it's stuck under the seat. Actually, I think it may be stuck in the latch itself. My sis (a proud '05 SF owner) and I have tried everything we can think of to free it - it was actually quite comical to watch - but no luck. We can feel the strap but we can't get a good grip on it and can't really move it. It folds under the seat right where the latch is, that's why I think it's stuck in the latch.
View 4 RepliesI noticed my hood latch release getting a little stiffer over some time to the point that my hood latch cable stretched out and didn't work. I fixed it by tying a knot in the cable to shorten the length and now it works fine. HOWEVER, it is still getting stiffer. I unhooked the 2 cable peices where they connect under the hood on the driver side to see if they are sticking, they both are smooth. I also latch the release mechanism (without closing the hood) and activated it easily. BUT still when I use it on the hood, it is very stiff.

I have got the interior panel removed and the what i will call the latch plate assembly out of the way... I can see one Phillips head screw down in the hole ... but can get nothing to move ... this thing is rock solid on the latch bolt.... what can i do?
View 4 RepliesI have a new issue with my '02 Silverado, which so far has been a good truck. However, about a week ago when I tried to open the tailgate, the latch wouldn't release. I have yanked on the tailgate with my full weight (260 lbs) while pulling on the release handle, and have not had any success at getting it open.
The release handle seems to work OK, but the internal latch mechanism seems to be jammed in some way. I have even tried parking the truck on different surfaces, just to see if tilting the truck at different angles would loosen the latch, but that didn't work either.
It's as if the tailgate were welded shut. fortunately, most stuff I put in the bed isn't too heavy for me to lift over the gate or the bed sides, but I'd really like to have my tailgate working again. I have even thought that if I do get the gate open, that I'd disable the latch and install a hook-and-chain setup like what trucks had in the early 1960s and prior (since it's a work truck and I'm not planning to part with, it I'm not concerned about resale value).
