The best that I can describe what it feels like is at around 30 to 40 mph it shakes like your going over the side shoulder little pumps with both wheels. Only at those speeds... I all ready changed struts, tires, rack in pinion, upper and lower ball joints and tie rods. I have not change the tie rods that go up and down from struts to spindle its like 6" long or so can that be it? Or CV shaft?...
View 1 Replies02 v6 awd my power steering cooler had a leak and was spraying fluid all over radiator. I replaced it and did a coolant flush new thermostat and a new temp sensor. Was still getting hot gauge was touching bottom of red. Did some looking my ac wasn't working for some reason the fuse was loose. I pushed it in and the big fan instantly kicked on high along with the ac. The small fan on the front of the condenser isn't running. Could this be my problem? When is it supposed to be running? I swapped the relays around with no change. I might take it apart tomorrow and hardware fan to see if it shot craps.

I replaced the spark plugs in cylinders 2, 4, and 6. Not 1, 3, 5 yet since those are harder to get to.
I drove the car about 10 miles and it seemed to operate fine. The CEL stayed off. However, my scanner still says Pending P1707. The scanner showed no errors when I first started up the car, but I decided to do it again about 5 miles in that is when it showed the error.
I've done some searching but the responses for this code are inconsistent. What this error is about?
I have a 2002 Santa Fe 6cyl automatic GLS w/ 170k on it - great car - never a problem until about 20k miles ago, I started experiencing a shudder (like driving over a washboarded road) at 38-42 mph. If I accelerate quickly through this mph range (from 3rd to 4th gear), I can avoid it. Similarly, if I downshift back into 3rd, accelerate through and then upshift to 4th again at about 45mph, I can avoid it. It happens at a much lesser extent around 55-60mph. It has been to a reputable transmission shop that doesn't think its a tranny issue. Its been 4 days at a good mechanic and they can't find the problem. Its not throwing any codes and no other part of the vehicle seems to be affected. It has new tires/alignment less than 5k ago. I have suggested several things (ignition coil, torque converter, throttle control sensors) and they have checked these and more and don't find the problem.

View 1 RepliesI bought this santa fe for parts for my other identical santa. When you take it out of park into r everse drive 1st 2nd gear it will idle down 200 rpm. It had no codes till I revved it up and moved gears. Codes trans module shift selonoid b and c. It makes no noise or vibration. The torque converter does not grab what so ever if it is even moving. I want to fix it now that I see its better condition.

Unlocked if from the key entry in the liftgate and from the front door. You can hear the locks upen but when you pull the handle, the liftgate does not unlock.

View 10 RepliesJust bought a used but in pretty decent shape, 2002 Santa Fe, with 6 cylinder engine, 112K miles. I read the post about the vehicle that was hard to start after filling up - but this one is hard to start all the time - every time. Cranks fine, but once cranking, have to pump the gas pedal several times, and then it chugs just a second and then starts running. Slilght smell of gas if the hood is up, just after starting. Once running however, it runs perfectly on city and hwy. I have one mech that tells me "definitely the fuel pump" and another that tells me "definitely the purge valve" - this of course just from me describing the conditions, they have not actually seen it.
View 3 RepliesLast night my girlfriend and i were coming home in her Sante Fe and it was driving perfectly fine. The check engine light was on, but it occasionally comes on so i figured it was probably just a sensor.
When we got in the car this morning and i put it in drive (automatic trans) it was in sports mode (i'm assuming because a "1" popped up under the "D")
And now i cant figure out how to just put it into normal drive. We spilled a tiny amount of soda on the shifter last night, maybe 3/4 a cup at the most.
I have a 2002 Santa Fe V6 2.7 liter, FWD, 215,000+ miles. When it shifts from 2nd to 3rd the whole vehicle jerks. It does not do this on the other gears. I took it by a transmission place for a free scan and they said the transmission is fine.
View 19 RepliesWhen I start it up it won't idle untill you give it gas to 2500 rpms and slowly let off the pedal to 1000 rpms to keep it running and itll stay running. When you turn it off you have to redo it all over again. The plugs and wires were replaced. It started doing it couple days after the back 3 plugs and wires were replaced. Just got the fuel pressure regulator replaced and it still wont start up without giving it gas.
View 6 RepliesLooking for a picture/location etc of where the crank position sensor is in the engine compartment? It seems to be a common issue where the engine stalls during driving and you pull over and are able to restart the vehicle and go on about your business.
My 02 has over 160k in miles and so am believing this part is going out according to what I've read here. My problem before was somehow the 2wire plug to the alternator worked it's way off and got that taken care of and so now while my wife is driving, it'll occasionally stall. Did a load test on the battery and it's good. Didn't check the charging system but not sure it needs to be tested.
By the way, have ran the diagnostics with the actron pocket obdII and no error codes came up and all looked good scrolling through everything.
2002 Santa Fe has Shimmy when applying brakes. Had tire balanced and rotated-no change. New brakes with life time pads one year ago. Rotors were turned. Should I replace the rotors and pads or just rotors? Am I on the right track for repairs?

But, in addition, when The gear Works,it jumps to 3rd, I try to Downshift to 2nd or upshift to 4th, it just stay on the 2nd and stay there for a while, then I hear the same old clicking sound with the shake, and its back on 1st. I've Changed the gear Before, will not do again, what else?!
View 2 RepliesI have a low beam that just isn't working at all on the right side. I changed the bulb 3 times now, confirmed I had the right dual beam bulb (Sylvania 9003) and still the same result. The low beam doesn't work on the right side, but the high beam works.

'05 Santa Fe 2WD 3.5. Front end shimmy at about 70 mph. bad CV joint. I am replacing both left and right. Got everything out of the way to remove both CV's. Problem: The retaining ring at the end of the axle shaft will NOT release the axle. Pry bar not having any affect.
