After changing the battery on my key fob my immobilizer now wont work.The key fob flashes twice telling us its disarmed but it wont re-arm itself.Now we have followed a coupe of online procedures regarding resetting the transmitter box.We did this and still it wont work.Central locking is working from key and car starting from key,But key fob jsu not syncing up!!
View 1 RepliesI have 2005 Santa fe. I replaced the battery about 1000 km (about 600 miles) ago. Interior lights are bright. Now the car won't start, starter doesn't crank at all. At first I thought that it's an immobilizer problem, but not so sure now.
Could you tell me how Hyundai's immobilizer works. Some other cars starts but then turns off if immobilizer is on. Is it the same thing with Santa Fe?
I read from the manual that immobilizer-light should blink if immobilizer is on. I have not watched the dashboard lights so accurately before this. When I turn key to position "on", the immobilizer-light turns on (it doesn't blink). Is it supposed to do so and turn off when the car is running? Or is that a sign that immobilizer is on?
I bought a new to me 2005. The car came with one fob with the silver logo. The smart key functionality does not work on the car. Lock and unlock works with the fob and I can start and drive with the fob inserted in the slot. Oddly when I push the black button on the outside of the door the red light flashes on the key fob. I have pressed the button under the steering wheel labeled key and that does not seem to change anything. Pressing the button on the door handle causes a long beep to sound.
In addition the light on the dash that is the car with the black key in the middle constantly flashes. It never turns off while driving. I believe this is the same light that acts as the theft deterrent light. I would think that the two are somehow related.
I just purchased a 2013 Prius from the insurance company as a theft recovery , it came without any keys.
View 7 RepliesToday I test drove the car and was told that the key fob was lost and a replacement was programmed for the car to start...but not locks. But while driving it I noted that the Immobilizer / Theft deterrent light was flashing. Is this normal because everything i'm reading says that the car shouldn't even start. I know that the car isn't stolen because we are planning to take over the loan in the morning for the car at the bank. What I should do. If this is because the key was only programmed without the original then can I simply use this one until I can have Toyota make me a new key for around 350-400 based on what I'm seeing online.

I have a 2009 XLE Camry which has been running smoothly for years. I failed to replace my old battery on-time and my drained battery surprised me on Christmas morning. I tried to jump-start it, long story short but something went wrong during jump-start and I lost all the lights on my dash (I can't say I didn't cross the cables but I'm pretty sure I was fully awake that morning).
I bought a new battery and replaced the old one, lights on dash are back on, the engine starts but there is no acceleration at all, the car just moves forward on D and backwards on R but no acceleration on gas pedal. I did some research and figured I might have blown a fuse, I opened my fuse box under my hood and found out my 10 Amp ETCS fuse is blown. I changed the fuse and now acceleration is back, I can drive the car but I get this 'VSC System Check' error on my dash, the 'Check Engine' light is also on and the AC fan is not working.
Could it be another blown fuse? Is this something I can fix by myself?

View 2 Replies2011 Sonata Se. Keyless fob will not unlock car or open trunk. Brake lights and overhead lights are all that will light. Immobilizer indicator flashes yellow when start button is pushed with brake depressed, car does not even attempt to start.
Putting fob in console will also cause the Immobilizer light to flash, no start up. Holding start button with foot on brake for a minute does nothing.
Owner's manual says call dealer. Car battery is 1 year old and 2 fobs have new batteries, and neither will work.
Going down the highway the other day my '07 SE started to flash the battery and seat belt "dummy lights" in the instrument cluster. There was no discernible change in power, other lighting, or anything else that I can tell. The lights didn't seem to flash in any particular pattern either....
What this might be?.....other than gremlins?
I have a 2009 Sante Fe AWD: What it means when the battery and seat belt lights flash on the dashboard while driving? The headlights also dim slightly and sporadically as if there is a huge load on the system. No noticeably pull or drag while driving.
View 5 RepliesAbout 4 months ago, I had the battery replaced since the car was not starting easily and they said voltage was not good. They also shimmed the ignition coil at the same time. I thought it was a bit early for a new battery but ok.
Last Friday I started getting a flashing battery light on the console but no other issues. Thought I would bring it in Monday.
Sunday I was driving on the highway and all warning lights came on, flashing, console died then came back on with a bunch of warning lights and then the car died. I managed to get off the highway with about 10% power and park in a lot. Car would not start once I turned it off, click, click, click, click like no power etc but rest of power in car seemed fine. Started fine Monday morning and I drove it to the dealership.
The dealership says the code was P2502 (Charging System Voltage). They are going to replace the Battery Sensor first and then if that doesn't work replace the Alternator.
Last night, while my wife was driving, the battery light on her instrument panel started flashing. This morning the battery light came back on when she started the car. As she was driving on the highway, the ABS light, the stability light, and couple other lights came on, plus her she was losing power to her wheels. She said it then felt like the car was towing a heavy object and that there was no power going to the wheels or any other part of the car. She was able to drive it a few miles to a parking lot, where it died.
When she tried to restart it, she heard a clicking sound, but had no power and the engine was not turning over. She could not remote lock the doors because the all power was gone.
The tow truck driver tested the car and said the battery is fine, but that the alternator was dead. She had it towed to the dealer, who also says it is the alternator that is the problem.
This all occurred after we had a previous, and resolved issue, to the instrument panel (including the light around the cigarette lighter) and the taillights going out intermittently. The dealer disconnected the electrical connection to the towing package and the lights have stayed on since.
Seems odd to have an alternator go on a two-year old vehicle (we bought it new in Jan 2011). Could it actually be the alternator or something else?
I have a 2000 Jetta VR6 and my Immobilizer (car & key) dash light came on, along the check engine, battery, and a few lights when tried to start my car to move it. I've been doing my research and know the problem is the communication between an RFID chip in my remote key and the key cylinder. My current remote key is old so I wonder if I need a new key. Now I do have a spare remote key (hardly used) and valet key which I could have overnighted to me.

So, i changed my oil recently, and at the same time changed both valve cover gaskets (front and rear were leaking). From time to time now, the oil light comes on, and goes off, flickers as i drive over bumps, but cant figure out what the problem is. Since the word "Oil" is too short of a term to search for on the forum it was hard to find many posts about it.
When i changed the valve cover gaskets, i went ahead and changed the plugs and wires as well, no Milkshake, no oil on plugs, .90 on the plugs (originals with 137k miles on them, ouch!) i had a small oil leak for a short time after i changed the oil (first time ive changed it on this vehicle) so i did not know how tight the oil filter had to be, but a slight tighten fixed that leak.
The car has the correct filter, using 10-30 (im in the desert) oil is staying right smack dab in the middle of the line, no burned smell from the oil, no milkshake on the dipstick, no oil in the coolant, Im at a loss on what to do next.
I have a tiny leak from the oil pan gasket, but nothing major, plan to replace this with my next oil change.
My wife's 2011 v6 Santa Fe has been having issues with the immobilizer. Randomly the vehicle won't start and we have to keep on trying. It stranded her for an hour the other day, I'm ready to drive this PoS off of a cliff.

My car is a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5 and several times i've seen the 4wd warning light start flashing. It happens right when i start up the engine, however if I turn the engine off and on again, the light will be off the next time it starts up.
I'm just trying to figure out what kind of problems this warning light would indicate, in case it stays on sometime. I like to plan ahead my car repairs and know what's going on with it. The car has like 190K + miles so it's getting there.
Also I try to avoid the dealer, so I was also wondering if a typical scan tool that most mechanics have could read the codes, or if would need to be done by Hyundai specifically.
I have a 2003 santa fe and the blinkers are not functioning but the hazard lights are working fine. I checked the fuse and that is fine. Is there someway I can take apart the handle assembly where the switch for the blinkers are? Also, sometimes they would work and other times they wouldn't so that seems like a loose connection somewhere. The indicators for the blinkers on the dash do not work either so there has to be a problem giving power to the switch.
View 8 RepliesI bought a used Toyota Prius last winter and when the weather became hot I tried to use my AC and it worked well for a while before the Ac light FLASHING and then the AC doesn't work but the fan still working and the air became hot more than the outside temperature !! And that only happen when the weather temperature is 30c or over !! So I took it an AC tech and he told me he couldn't do anything to it because it's a hybrid car and it uses 600W Ac, so I took it to the Toyota dealer and they looked at it and they didn't know what is the exact problem so they told me I need to change the clutch relay and if it didn't work then I need to change the Magnetic Clutch.
View 3 RepliesI have had the keys recoded 9 days ago and two days ago they started playing up again, today I phoned the mob I paid $150 to recode my keys and they're going to look at it again (for a small fee) despite it their work being faulty, is there anything else that could be causing this? It will sometimes take 20+ turns of my key before it registers.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2001 Prius and my wife has a 2001 Highlander. I only have 1 master key remaining for the Prius, and both cars use the same transponder type. I had a plain (metal, no transponder) copy made for the Prius, and it turns all the locks just fine. I also followed the master key programming steps with the metal non-transponder key in the ignition, but holding the Highlander key in close proximity to the ignition. It worked! If I have the highlander key on the keychain next to the metal spare Prius key, the Prius will start. The Highlander key is now a 'superkey,' it will start the Highlander, and it will also pacify the Prius immobilizer.
But this is not 100%; if it doesn't sit right on the keychain, I sometimes have to hold the Highlander key a little closer to the ignition to get it to recognize. I
My Santa Fe is a 2004 V6, with a replacement engine. I told I am in need of a new A/C compressor but haven't been able to get it done yet.
This evening I heard a squealing noise. It suddenly stopped, and then my brake and battery lights both went on.
I'm guessing my serpentine belt went out tonight. But I also wonder if the A/C compressor is contributing to the problem?
