Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Rough Shift Going Uphill And Downhill

Oct 10, 2016

I have a 2008 2.7 all wheel drive santa fe automaic. It has 110 Kilometers on it. It is stop and go traffic everywhere, terrible roads, and lots of hills. I have actually only owned it for about 14k kilometers.

It has been fine since I bought it a year ago up until about 2 months ago. I was coming to a stop and as I got right to the end of my stop, the car jerked and made a clunk sound. No smell. I could tell it was when the tranny was coming down from 2nd to 1st. I tried to replicate it but got nothing. Ignored it but then it happened again. It seemed more prevalent when I was moving from 1st to second to stop over and over.

As I began to pay attention more and more, it happens much more when going up a hill or down a hill and almost always happens when I am about to make a u-turn and the wheel is turned all the way to the left. When it happens, it isn't always a big jerk. It never happens at speed, the other shifts are fine, and if I shift from reverse to drive too fast and accelerate, I get a clunk as well.

Dodge - Transmissions - Shifters - Grandcaravan :: 2007 Won't Shift Going Uphill / Bad EGR Valve

My 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.8L engine won't shift going up hill. On any incline, it stays in the gear it was in when the incline starts and will never upshift. So we're stuck going 20 to 25MPH up hill. Once we get to the crest of the hill, it shifts to the next gear and we're good to go. From a standing still on flat land, if I nail the accelerator pedal, it also won't shift, I have to back off the accelerator, and it will upshift normally. What's up with this?

Have engine light on and the code indicates a bad EGR valve, and possibly a bad catalytic converter, but Autozone indicated that a bad EGR can also produce a code for a bad catalytic converter. They recommended replacing the EGR valve first, then see if the code comes back. But they didn't know if this would cause a loss of torque, which might be related to the shifting problem.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Driveline Jerking When Try To Accelerate Sometimes On Flats / Rarely On Downhill But Always On Uphill

2004 F150 FX4 5.4L. I drove from Vancouver to Edmonton and back this week and I started to get some issues. If I'm in overdrive at highway speeds, from about 90km/h to 120km/h give or take, which would be around 1600-2100rpm, and then I try to accelerate, sometimes on flats, rarely on downhills, but always on uphills, the truck will begin to jerk fore and aft. It feels like it's something through the driveline, either the driveshaft or the differential, but I really can't say for certain as I'm stuck in the driver's seat while this is happening.

If the truck downshifts or if I take it out of overdrive, i.e. getting the revs up high, the problem is no more. Other than the issue I'm having, it operates perfectly so this is very odd. I know that overdrive isn't a hill climbing gear, but normally an engine in the wrong gear will simply lug along until it's downshifted. The entire truck jerking shouldn't happen.

On my way to Edmonton, I noticed that this would cause one single, minor jerk. This is my way of describing it, but it was like the driveshaft had spun freely and then promptly re-engaged with the differential gear, causing a clunk. I doubt that's actually what happened, but I'm just trying to explain the sensation. It kind of feels like trailer jerking.

On the way back to Vancouver, it was a lot worse. Like I said, the whole truck would be jerking about once per second but there was one time that I found the sweet spot and it began jerking rapidly, twice per second. I threw it out of overdrive to stop this but the vibration caused the check engine light to flash a few times but it went away and didn't stay on.

What I might be up against? Been doing a little research. Seems as though this is common and it's supposedly the spark plugs, but those only have 50,000km on them.

Passat (B6) :: Hard To Shift Up To Next Gear Especially On Straightaways And Downhill

In late 2011, I took my 2007 VW Passat 2.0T Wolfsburg (automatic) to get a 50k mile service. When I got it back, I realized that the car had problems shifting up to the next gear especially on straightaways and downhill. Usually on a downhill, one would not have to step on the gas and the car would shift into the next gear staying at a low RPM and saving somewhat on fuel.

However, on downhills I find the tachometer being stuck around 2500k RPM and it sounds like its struggling to shift. This leads me to switch to tiptronic (correct term?) to shift into the next gear and then let the car roll. This also resulted in more fuel consumption. When I took it back to VW explaining this they said there was no problem or they could not experience it. Hopefully, there is a solution or explanation before the "transmission is shot" result.

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: 2011 - Transmission Would Shift Rough In The Mornings

I've got a 2011 lexus es350 with a bad transmission. I purchased the car 4 months ago with 50,000 miles on it. I noticed in the carfax that the transmission fluid was changed at 25,000 miles??? I knew that wasn't normal. After having the car for 4 months i noticed the transmission would shift rough in the mornings. I took it to lexus and they added more transmission fluid to the tranny. After I got the car back it had no getup and go. And the car would stutter when revving at high rpm.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Sluggish To Shift From P To R / D - Inhibitor Switch?

Model is 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7L

A month ago I started noticing it was sluggish to shift from P to R/D but i had no issues starting in P mode and the car would drive fine. I thought it might due to cold weather so didn't think of it too much.

Two weeks ago it was really hard to shift the gear from P mode and I nearly got stuck in middle of the road unable to shift from R to D. I applied a lot of force on the shifter and it finally budged into D and car drove with no issues. I parked and did my chores came back and the car would not start at all.I put the car in N and it started and was hard to shift back in D but I drove home without any other issues.

It died again in my drive way but this time the gear was nearly impossible to shift and I thought I almost broke it and the panel was not registering it was in P and the key was stuck in the ignition. After messing around for some time I was able to get it into N and put my hand brake on left the key in the ignition and disconnected the battery.

Today I opened the center console & battery tray these are my findings. The inhibitor switch was slightly misaligned from the N position.

1. The shifter moves freely once the linkage is disconnected by removing the tiny pin.
2. The inhibitor switch was slightly misaligned from the N position. Once I manually adjusted it I was able to start the car.
3. I reconnected the linkage pin, make sure the inhibitor switch was in N position and started the car but it was again nearly impossible to switch to P/R/D
4. My brake lights work fine.
5. I was able to remove the key once I completely disconnected the battery.

What can be the issue here ? Inhibitor switch ? The shifter assembly ? Linkage?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Transmission Shifting Harshly - Stuck Mid Shift

We've got a new 2010 Santa Fe AWD LTD with about 2800km on it. About once or twice a week, under normal driving, we've noticed very harsh shifts. It seems to be the 2-3 shift and is around 40km/h. Just normal acceleration from a stop sign. And just recently a new issue. It seemed like it got stuck mid-shift...

I was accelerating slowly from a stop and on the 2-3 shift the engine revved up above 3000 as if it was in neutral. I eased off the gas and then it completed the shift. My wife took it into the dealer today, but I'm worried they'll send it back as "unreproducible" as we've only had about 1 problem for every 10 hours of driving. We'll see what they say. As you can imagine, I'm not very impressed that we're having these issues before our first oil change...

Somebody mentioned that maybe there's something sticking in the transmission and it builds up enough pressure and then finally makes the shift. But I'm not a transmission expert by any means...

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Bad Shacking In Steering Wheel And Stick Shift

I have a 2009 3.3L santa fe integral transmission and for the second time they have a really bad shacking in the steering wheel and in the stick shift when I'm on the road the same thing like your drive on the side road bump to wake you up. I stop two times on the side of the road to find if they have anything abnormal but with no resolute.

My oils are all ok and no loss of performance of the car except they consume a little bit more gas (around 10L/100Km. The last time this happened the arm shifter vibrated.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2011 - Gear Shift Plastic Shutters

Having issue with those plastic shutter flaps under the gear shift console? I think something might have been spilled in there because they have a tendency to be 'sticky' when moving the gear shift back and forth. Sometimes it gets bad enough that they get jammed up trying to move it forward into park. What I'd like to do is take the console cover off to get at them to either clean or replace them. Have part of the gear shift console off?

Ford Transmission :: Cruise Control - Shift Or Lock / Unlock Trans On Ever Slight Downhill

Just picked up an Excursion with the V10 and 4R100 (2001). Drove it in to work to day and while on the freeway cruising on cruise control about 60 it seemed to shift or atleast lock/unlock the trans on ever slight downhill you encounter on a city freeway. Just light humps in the road. Does this seem normal? RPM's would be just shy of 2000 then I'd hit a small decline and would shift to 1600 or so then back up when it leveled out.
