Having problems with center console not shutting properly? A few days ago out of the blue it would not shut, almost as though something was blocking it. If I push really hard it clicks shut but when I go to open it again it takes a lot of unusual force to open.
View 8 RepliesOk, I can live with little things like the drivers side pillar not being completed seated and flush, or the drivers seat rocking a little from time to time.
But the thing that annoys me the most is the center console armrest lid squeaking every time you lean against it. I drove 3 SFS's before I bought mine. All of them squeaked.
Any fix for this to stop it from squeaking? Besides going to the dealer and getting the run around.
When Powering off my 2004 Prius, here's what happens: Press Power button, Power button and Dash display(above the sterring wheel) go off, while the MFD screen stays on(center console) - although temperature is no longer reported on the consumption screen, the consumtion screen is still on, power outlets stay on, and clock is still on. Car refuses to lock driver's door, even with keyfob located outside of car. Car beeps as though still on - I disconnect 12V battery to leave vehicle(and not wear down the 12V). Happened for 3-4 days, went away for a week, and its been back for a week since.
Traced problem so far to the three cables behind the 6 CD changer/radio unit. If the middle of the three plugs on the back of the radio/CD player is unplugged, the problem goes away, so does my bluetooth audio. I need to be able to use handfree while driving in my state, also haven't figured out what else is gone when that cable is unplugged. Radio, CD Player, and Navigation still work with sound when that same middle cable is unplugged.
I drive an 84 242--something bad happened when I was driving from Baltimore to Phoenix. Mostly it is now that I live in a very hot desert. But the thing with the car involved a short period (15 seconds) where smoke came out of the center console (behind the heating controls). After this the headlights didn't work. Everything else in the car works fine. I've checked the fuses--they are all good (both visual and by running a battery and flashlight bulb through it on the lighting fuses).
Of course when the headlights are off there isn't an issue. The lights are off. When I turn the headlight knob to the driving lights (center position) the parking lights come on. It is when I turn the knob to the headlights (rightmost) position that things go wrong--not only do the headlights not come on, but the parking lights go off.
Could this be the switch? Or more likely the step relay?
I have a 2013 Elantra GLS. I use a USB stick to listen to music. Sometimes it would reset the center console/radio if I leave the USB stick in, but this time it didn't turn back on.

View 5 RepliesI am 3 weeks into my 2014 ES300h, my first Lexus and first hybrid. I am hearing this odd rattling noise from the center console, it's almost like two wires touching. The noise comes mainly at low speeds and mostly what it seems like on the hybrid train.
I took it to the dealer who is saying they hear no noise or normal hybrid noise. Since this car is supposed to have a super quite cabin I am wondering if I am being taken for a ride (figuratively) .
2013 Elantra GT. Right-hand power socket under center console is dead. Does not appear to be connected to fuse box? How to activate it when the ignition is switched on?

I'm contemplating removing the center jump seat and replacing it with a Ford center console. Is it just a matter of removing the center jump seat bolts, then bolt in the new center console?

I have a 2009 Santa Fe Limited with the Infinity sound system.
Last night driving home there was a split-second power pop/fluctuation in my center console. The lights and sound turned off for a split-second. I didn't notice if this also happened with my driving console or exterior lighting system, but the wife seems to think that it was only the centre console.
My wife spilled some Coke onto the center console and now the Drive mode select sticks and when its freezing outside the switch becomes frozen. Any step by step instructions? I want to clean it out.
View 6 RepliesMy 2007 Santa Fe Limited 3.3L with 102,000 miles started making a grinding/ticking noise yesterday. It's hard to tell but it sounds like its coming from directly under the center console. The noise is directly proportional to the speed and if I put my hand on the shift selector, I can feel the tick vibrations. It drives and shifts fine. What it could be? I'm hoping it's not a transmission issue. I'm thinking something with the AWD connection to the rear wheels.
View 1 RepliesI noticed today that the temp got to be about 70 degrees today. I went to put on the ventilated seat, but it did not blow cool air. when I first got the car, it felt like as soon as I pushed the button cold air came out, It actually felt weird at first.
Now I can hear the fan going if I turn everything down, but it did not get cool.
My 2014 Santa Fe suffers from the creaking dash (in the center) and I would like to know the fix when I have the windshield removed. Is it as simple as putting foam or rubber between the mounts and the dash or is there more to it than that?
View 11 RepliesI've got a case of dash rattle. I hit a small bump and I hear a small but plasticky rattle sound from (I think) the center of my plasticky dash. IT BUGS ME!
I wonder how I'd be letting the dealer tear apart my dash. The car has been on the road a full 2 months... First new car with dash rattle.
I noticed from time to time when i accelerate ventilation fans tend to drop speed. Not sure if the a/c shuts off for a brief moment as you can feel warmer air exit the vents. Nothing of concern to me as the a/c works fine, just wondering if it does this for a reason. Knowing the ac is a huge power consumption to the vehicle, I am wondering if it does this for the engine to put more power where needed.
On another note. I did a test on the HWY this past Saturday omw to a wedding coverage. 2hr drive there i used the a/c with seat vents on and got about 22/23mpg. On the way back i did the opposite and got 29.2mph, not too shabby... 2016 - 2.0T .....
I went to fill up my Santa Fe's tank for the first time and was only able to get about 9 gallons in. The pump shut off when the car only had about 2/3 of the tank full. I let it be, but I really don't want to be dealing with this every week. Have issues put gas in? Any tricks/tips? I do live in California which requires a lot of equipment on the pumps to prevent gas fumes from escaping. I'm not sure if that's contributing to the premature shut-off.

Suddenly, I cant open the rear hatch on my Santa Fe Highlander. It seems to be electrical actuated. Anyway it is stuck shut. Key fob, nothing seems to allow it to open.
View 2 RepliesA week ago, my wife and I were driving on the highway when suddenly our 2014 Santa Fe decided to shut off at 65 mph. When I say shut off, I mean EVERY SINGLE THING IN THE CAR DIED. All of the interior lights off, headlights off, instrument cluster, EVERYTHING. Being cool, calm, and collected, I immediately shifted into neutral, cranked, and all was back to normal. Not in the 2 years that we have owned this car has that EVER happened! I chalked it up to an inexplicable electrical anomaly.
Tonight, again, the same thing happened under different circumstances. This time, I was following her. She came to a stop at a red light, then once she lifted her foot off the brake, everything shut off. I instructed her to immediately put the car in neutral and try starting it. Like last time, it turned right back on. Apparently, there seemed to be an issue with the previous generation with the 2.4 motors.
