On a recent trip to the service dept, I mentioned that the steering wheel makes a loud clicking noise anytime it's turned, the service guy said "it's normal and supposed to do that it's a spring"... Really? I find it hard to believe that Hyundai would make us listen to this annoying sound all the time.

View 9 RepliesWhen turning the steering wheel slowly while from a stop or slow speed there is a grinding sound coming from the front end. It isn't very loud but you can also feel it in the steering wheel.
Is there a common thing/problem with these? I know there isn't a pump. There isn't any kind of a vibration or wobble at highway speed.
I recently bought a 2014 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T about a 3 months ago, and have since noticed a couple issues that have come up with it. First was with a squeaking front suspension, but that was fixed by simply lubricating the sway bar bushings.
The second is that the steering wheel seems louder than normal when turning left/right at low speeds, mainly when parking, it sounds like two pieces of paper rubbing against each other right behind the steering wheel like a dry noise.
I test drove another Santa Fe before getting mine for about a week and didn't notice this issue. Is this a normal sound that eventually develops after having the Santa Fe for a while? I'm like at 3,600 miles.
I have a UK 2006 Mk2 CDX+ which I was driving last night - seemed ok, got to our driveway, turned the steering wheel fully left so I could manoeuvre the car into the driveway when I heard a loud "clunk" noise.
I thought I ran over a bottle or something so carried on reversing, when I got out I noticed the car was parked diagonally! Thought this is strange, I don't park like that and tried again, a bit better but still not parallel! I then noticed the steering wheel was hard to turn, a grinding like noise is heard when I turned so I decided I would need to take into the local in the morning.
Started the car today and drove out and got immediate sensation that steering was not connected to the wheels, the SW was off centre by miles and turning left/right was very sluggish. Lucky the garage is only down the road (but it's not Hyundai specialist) from me as I would not risk driving it down main roads in this condition. Guy at garage asked me to fully turn the SW left to right and we can see that the front of the car actually moved during the process. He is going to take it up on the lift to look underneath.

Having a very annoying rattle/creaking near the seat belt pillar on the driver's side? This occurs continously even on smooth highway roads. I will ask them to check it out at the 5k service.
Also, my steering wheel slightly "clicks" when turning the steering wheel 1 full turn to the right. It doesn't do it on the left side, and doesn't seem right. No turn signals or anything is on. Just seems flimsy with all these noises!
My 2013 Prius v made a really loud clicking noise this morning when starting the car from a cold start. It was less than 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The car has about 14K miles in it. Is this normal?
View 1 RepliesI've noticed several times, already my heated steering wheel will automatically turn off at random times.
During the winter months i keep it on almost all the time, but noticed occasionally it just shuts off, and even gives the message in the dash that the heated steering wheel is off.
Last time it happened, i was driving for about 25 minutes, at a stop light. Whats odd is its been on for 45-60 minute drives with no issues.
I don't even think it could be diagnosed by the dealer since I don't know what the trigger is.
I'm getting a loud clicking noise on my front passenger side around the wheel or axle. Once I press on the accelerator it starts. It goes faster and faster as the speed of the car increases.

View 1 RepliesPurchased a new 2.0T Santa Fe this weekend. While driving it home from the dealership noticed a loud wind noise between 60-80mph. We took it back to the dealership within 30 minutes and talked to the service manager. They put us in a loaner Genisis and said they would take the front end apart and see where the noise was coming from. The dealership called back this morning and said they can't figuer out what/where the noise is coming from but they do agree it is a wind noise.. They are offering to swap the vehicle out with another one next week when it is delivered. High pitched noise while driving on the freeway?
View 387 RepliesAbout 3 weeks ago, I noticed the SUV would occasional make a loud "CLICK" sound in the front steering area, usually if I made a fast turn motion (either left or right).
So today I put it up on a ramp and took a look and it's obvious there's a part in there that is coming loose. I don't know what the names of the stuff is in there, so I'm posting a photo with arrows & letters so people can tell me what's what, and also what to do.
I tried putting a vise grip on it and tightening it with a ratchet wrench on the top part (16mm), but the lower nut just spins. I decided to not go any further because I really don't know what that assembly is, what it does, if it's broke, etc.
This is my first VW and I have a strange clicking noise when I turn left or right and especially after a turn and the steering wheel turns back to center. Taken it in twice and no one can figure it out. I have never heard this before on any car. What this may be?

I have been experiencing colder/rainy weather compared to the warm weather I was driving in when I first got the car... Weird 'click' noise? I feel like it's coming from the steering wheel column.... or am I just being paranoid?

View 1 RepliesFront sway bar bushings causing "clicking" noise while turning the steering wheel? Usually happens when I'm moving into or out of a parking spot and while I'm turning my steering wheel. I got the driver side, I believe, lower control arm replaced and after that i started getting a faint clicking noise when I'm turning the steering wheel.
The dealer, after multiple visits, discovered it's the front sway bar bushing causing the noise. They said it's really not worth the cost, since it's isn't a safety issue and the whole sway bar needs to be replace since you can't buy bushings alone. I want to get rid of the noise regardless of safety or not.
I'm having an issue with my 2004 Elantra.
When I turn the ignition in my car, it makes a very loud noise at the front of the car. This goes away after about 3 seconds, but when I turn the wheel to either side, it makes a very high screeching sound. This persists until I've been driving for a few minutes then it goes away.
I hesitate to say the following, but it also feels as if my steering wheel is a bit "harder" to turn, but maybe it is my imagination. What it could be? I checked power steering fluid and it is at normal levels.
I've recently replaced the power steering pulleys and belts. Now when i turn car, it makes a clunking /clicking noise and sometimes the power steering tugs back a bit. 2010 camry.
View 3 RepliesI have 2016 camry 4 cyl have roughly 2300 miles and I'm noticing a click click while turning the steering wheel left or right while stationary and vehicle running sounds like it's coming from under the dash.
I've seen there is a tsb for other year camry intermediate shaft issue, my vehicle is lowered on eibach Springs and would hate to take back to dealer and have them blame it on the springs in a vehicle that has only 2,500 miles.
When I am sitting at a dead standstill and I turn the wheel lock to lock, left or right, I hear a clicking sound. The clicking is louder inside the car, but I can't tell if it's coming from the steering column or the various linkages in the suspension or drive systems.
If I drive in circles, with the wheel at a constant (or changing) angle, there are no clicks, so I don't think this is a CV joint issue.
What could be causing this noise? I really don't want to take off my lowering springs and restore this thing to the original configuration for a warranty repair visit to the dealership.
If I do, you may see a fire sale of H&R 20mm wheel adapters and B&G lowering springs in the near future.
My brand new 2015 Santa Fe Sport (limited) is making a "knocking" noise (emanating from the steering wheel / steering column?) when I turn right.

Fault will go away on some turns but is generally consistent and easily duplicated. Took it to the dealer and they are stumped as well -- follow up appointment next week.
