I am looking to reduce the weight on my rear suspension. I have H&R springs and I rub on bumps. Fenders need to be rolled but the inside of the tire is being rubbed on the strut housing. My subwoofer box doesnt work for my situation either, saw a thread already about this but he was recommended coils. I rather not go that route. View 1 RepliesBrought my 2011 Sonata SE to dealer today because my Airbag light remained on for days and the passenger airbag light was flashing with no one in seat. I was told after a diagnostic that the "Weight sensor" is faulty in the passenger seat and the entire seat needed to be replaced. I bought this car brand new and never been wrecked. The dealer went back and forth on if my airbags will deploy or not.
View 3 RepliesSometime back I had posted that I was getting a minor creaking noise which occurred mainly when I was slowly making right hand turns. At that time the conjecture was it was caused by the mounting tabs (used when the car is assembled) on the rear suspension. The solution was to drop the suspension and file off the tabs. But then I saw at least one other post that said the cause was something else.
Well the minor annoyance has become a major annoyance since it has gotten progressively worse. Before I resort in taking ot to the dealer I'd like to see if I can figure it out and fix it myself. But before I tackle that job I thought I would ask others who had this problem what it turned out to be.
So this clacking and thunking from the front suspension is something we all have to live with? Second. Dealer says everything tight. I think its the strut mounts because the noise seems to at top of dash behind the fire wall. It sounds like two metal balls knocking together clack clack.: Seems to getting worse as the kms rack up.

Rotors
Brake pads
Steering coupler
Where do I go next? LCA/ball joints? Tie rods?
I just bought used 2011 sonata 2.0T ltd. three weeks ago and i just figured that out when i turn the steering wheels both sides while car stops and pressing the brake pedal there is sound comes out from front and rear suspension.
View 2 RepliesWhile trying to troubleshoot a suspension noise (knock on potholes and when changing from drive to reverse) I found my outer tie rod end to have alot of play. This is similar on both passenger and driver sides.
Is this normal? I couldn't see any other issues with the other components including the bushings.

Noise is coming from the front suspension. You can hear it at :11 after i come to a stop, then drive over a dip. The dealer has told me it is the front struts. It's the 2nd time I've taken it to the dealership, the first time they could not replicate the noise so i am surprised the technician was able to hear it this time, and I don't want to spend money on strut replacement if it isn't the cause.
So I started hearing these random squeaking noises coming from the front suspension its what it sounds like. This only happens thou when i drive up into a drive way that is slanted. Or any kind of slow making slanted turns (~5-10mph)
I'm not 100% positive but it sounds like the suspension because it only makes noise when the car moves a little when ever i go up a drive way.
After being stonewalled and hassled by Toyota, the corporate office finally authorized a dealer to change the backup beeper to the one-beep mode. But now, when I carry furniture or lumber, etc and tie down the rear hatch with a rope, the beeper beeps constantly as long as the vehicle is moving.

There is a loud groaning/creaking noise coming from the front suspension area. At low speeds, this noise dominates all other noises and is directly related to hitting the gas or pressing the brakes, which produces a forward or backward force on the front suspension and chassis. I can sometimes hear it briefly just by pushing against the parked car.
My hope is that I can just tighten up some bolts and make this go away, but other posts suggest it may be struts, stabilizer links or other non-obvious sources.
Having suspensions creaking sounds coming from the back left/right side? A friend of mine has the sonata too but is having the sound coming from the left, mine is on the right.
View 6 RepliesI'm in the market for an '09 Sonata 4cyl. I found a good looking one at a local Toyota dealership (supposed trade in). Unfortunately, the dealer claims there are no service records available...test drove it and heard noise coming from rear suspension when going over speed bumps. Dealer had tech look into it and said they lubed up the 'springs' and stabilizer/sway bar and now the noise is gone. Should I run away or take this thing in for an independent inspection, and if it checks out, buy it without the service records?
View 3 RepliesHearing a slight clunk noise inside the back of thier gen 2? I've taken apart all the paneling used foam tape to secure things and took apart the spare tire area etc and the clunk persists. It seems to vary intensity every time I close the rear hatch.
View 4 RepliesFor the last year or so i have been annoyed severely by a clunking knocking sound from the rear (possibly passenger side) of the car. The noise occurs when there is torsion occurring or a sudden change of direction. I can go over a huge speed bump or pothole and not hear a thing yet the slightest change in direction or torsion will cause this extremely annoying heavy metal clunking knocking sound. I tightened every suspension system related screw in the rear of the car and the noise is still present.
The car is lowered on H&R springs (approx. 1.4 drop) so im wondering if maybe there is an additional stress that has been torturing the sway bar links for the last 3 years causing this noise. Or could it be the shocks (which are working properly)?
2006 Sonata 2.4 GLS. My car has done 60000 miles and has developed a creaking/knocking (metal on metal clunk) sound at the left rear. it is only noticeable at low speeds when accelerating and decelerating in stop start traffic.
It is not the shock as I have removed the shock and driven the car and the noise is still there, I have also looked at all the bushes and nothing is obvious. I have also checked tightness of all bolts/nuts.
My car's rear suspension bushes are getting torn and are making squeaking noise in bumps. I am able to get bush for trailing arm and stabiliser bar. My dealer says that i have to replace the whole knuckle assembly as the bush for that part are not available separately. Is this true or the dealer is trying to earn some quick bucks?
View 2 RepliesMy 06 Sonata LX 3.3 has me smiling except for two items, MPG, which I hope will improve after break-in, and a "k-thump" sound from the area of both rear tires. It occurs as I pass over fairly small bumps and ridges in the pavement, and remind me of the sound that is made by a bad shock. I took it to the dealer at 900 miles. They drove it and inspected the rear end and proclaimed all was OK. They claim it is caused by the low profile tires. I have never had low profile tires before, but it seems to me if that were the cause, the front tires would make the same sound, but they don't. The front end is sooo quiet. All tires have the recommended 30 PSI.
View 469 RepliesI've been noticing sometimes that when you try to roll up the right rear window, it won't work. It goes down fine, but sometimes, the button won't make it go up. I'm not sure if it's just the rear switch or both the rear and the driver's switch.
View 5 RepliesSo the car is a 2014 hyundai hybrid limited I had all the door panels off cause i was upgrading all 4 door speakers putting everything back to gather and a few days later I went to roll the rear window down and neither one works the front to works but both back will not go down or the heated seats in the back wont work. I check all connections and the fuses and they all seem fine what else can be the problem....
View 3 RepliesI have 2011 Sonata Ltd. As I cross over 60 mph, I hear a whinning sound from the rear wheels. I have 50K miles on it and is still under warranty. All 4 tyres were recently mounted and balanced by another dealer.
Dealer checked and said it is from tyres, but also said the tyres look good. Rotated the tyres but I am still getting sound from behind. At times it is quite loud.
