I just put in my LED kit and no matter what polarity I try the front and rear domes are faint and flicker when turned on by a door opening. They work fine when turned on by the dome switches. I did the rear domes first and after some switching of bulbs they started to work. I went and did the front domes and again after some switching they seemed to work, but now they're acting up again when I open a door.
View 10 RepliesThe bulb in my dome light started to flicker all of a sudden and now it won't even turn on. It will not turn on whether the switch is in "Door" or "On" position. I put back the original bulb to see if the bulb burnt out but still nothing.
All other interior lights/exterior lights work except for the bulb in the middle of this picture. I'm thinking it may be a fuse....
I have a 2010 Tiguan Wolfsburg 4Motion. A few weeks ago I swapped all the interior + License bulbs to LEDs. They were suppose to be error free but found out they were not since the map lights would flicker on and off even in the off position.
Removed all the bulbs and replaced them with the OEM incandescent ones and still the same issue. The bulbs in the map lights would flicker on an off. How I can fix?
Already took the Tiguan to the dealer and they scanned it for codes and nothing. Of course when I was there the lights worked perfectly fine.
Ok so I have a 09 tiguan S that stalled yesterday while driving only a few short min. My wife had been driving home about 4 miles when she got home I could hear a faint squealing noise as she pulled up. I left right after and assumed it was the the ac belts it that exist, so to verify that I turned off the ac and the sound did fade. I drove with it off for a few min then turned it on again the car acted normal and cooled just fine then about 5 min later I pulled into a lot and while waiting for others to move the engine stalled and I had the engine light, epc and battery lights showing. Now it was something like 110 outside and I thought overheated but the temp gauge showed normal and I received no warnings. I smelled a burned rubber smell and I recall seeing a small puff of smoke. I could not locate anything that could have burned out. The only thing I could see that was unusual was what looked like buildup on the air intake tubes.
View 5 RepliesI have had my Tiguan about a month ago and it has started getting cold. I noticed that when taking a right turn at a stop sign, there is a very faint clicking noise (sounds like it is coming from the front left wheel). On my way home today, I turned right at a yield and the road was a little bumpy. When turning right, I heard a clunking noise coming from the same area. It does not always make this noise. The car is under warranty, but I am afraid if I take it to the dealership, they will just tell me they couldn't find anything.
View 4 RepliesHas rattle that sounds like it is coming from the centre of the dash? It sounds like a piece of tin sheet metal is rattling faintly. I wouldn't think a fuel line rattle would sounds like that, but maybe I am incorrect? Putting pressure on the dash with your hand doesn't seem to make it stop.
We also get the creek in the l/h side that I had assumed prior that it was from the door seal when the body flexes.
Wife's Tig had an issue with its rear doors. Dome lights would activate only with front doors. If you opened the rear doors only, no dome lights.
VW dealer says they found the issue, I disabled the DRLs via VCDS and now he states that disables the rear door dome lights. He even went so far to say that I had installed an "aftermarket" part in order to disable the DRLs.
Any example for disabled their DRLs and lost the rear door dome lights?
Wife's picking up the Tig now. I'm sure the DRLs are now working. I'll VAG it again to remove the DRLs and see if I lose the rear door dome lights.
The car is a 2004 Suzuki Aerio with 68k miles on it. I've owned the car since 25k miles, and performed all maintenance on time. The car was also maintained well before we owned it (receipts). I've taken it to our garage 5 times now, for the same noise. Here is the timeline of events:
1) Two months ago started making two noises (rattle over bumps and a faint clunk on driver's side when turning). Garage replaced control arm assembly on both sides.
2) Took it back a week later because it was still making clunk (It got worse over this week, and then stayed at this level. I can feel it under the driver's side floor board. Sounds like a clunk/cracking noise) and was making a new rattle. Garage said their air wrench was messing up the first day and a heat shield came loose.
3) Another week later, still making clunk and making yet another weird rattle/grinding noise over bumps. Garage said this time that it's another loose bolt on the control arm assembly. Tightened and double checked everything. They seemed apologetic and embarrassed about the loose bolts.
4) Another two weeks later, still making the clunking noise. I take it back and take our mechanic for a ride. He hears it. I call back later that day and they say they can't find anything wrong with it (checked struts, front suspension, and cv joint). I speak with a different mechanic and he tells me "we don't do any fancy hard turning when we take the cars for test drives. We drive them like most people with old cars drive them." This seems to infer, to me, that it's only making this noise because I drive my car hard. Fyi, I drive reasonably. They say they had my mechanic, the other mechanic, the shop owner (who was on vacation that week), and ANOTHER mechanic from a different garage looking at it, and they can't find what's wrong. Bring it back next week.
5) Yesterday, they say they looked everything over and couldn't find anything wrong. Said they would have to diagnose it by feel. I have to work, but my husband picks it up and says they said it's play in the drive shaft causing this noise, and that they didn't seem worried about it. I only paid for the first visit.
Does this sound reasonable? Should I take it somewhere else for a second opinion? It does it on turns weather I'm on the gas or not. I like this car and I'm hoping to keep it for at least a few more years.
One my F350 with 175,000 miles on it, at low speeds when turning the steering wheel it seems as if it has two places during use that it rubs or has an oblong spot in it. I have 285 tires on it and have for years.
Kind of like if you were turning a shaft in a seal and it rubbed or was rough. It makes a faint, muffled, barely audible grinding noise or feel. I have a lift and level of about 4" and 285s for years. This just started in the last 5 months or so.
How to keep the freaking dome light from automatically turning itself off?? I understand it's a battery life saving function but I find it ANNOYING and would like to stop it.
View 6 RepliesI cannot figure out the interior lights by using the dimmer switch. Starting the vehicle and then trying to turn on either passenger or driver front dome light will not work. I continuously depress the right side of the dimmer switch it will turn on the REAR dome light and by depressing again it will shut off the REAR dome light. I can push either light in the front and it will not turn on. Once driving down the road and reaching a decent speed (40+) I can push the buttons and it will turn on and off by simply pushing the light. The buttons you use to turn on either light up front actually feels different---it easily "clicks" the light on.

Got it home tonight and the radiator fan ran for over 45 minutes wide open after I turned off the car before I disconnected the battery. The battery cable is off now until morning. Wet sensor?
View 12 RepliesI just recently changed the battery in my key fob and, after starting the car and driving a few minutes, noticed a flashing light on the dash and the information center stated "AFS turning light malfunction, see manual"...
It has happened a few times since then but have not gotten a chance to see of my turning lights still function at night or not.
I have a 2009 VW Tiguan SE with about 85K on it. Yesterday driving to work the alternator/ac belt broke, after replacing the belt the AC compressor will not turn on. The AC was running fine up until the belt broke, so far I have checked all the fuses and the codes, no bad fuses and no codes. I read in the manual about a compressor shaft overload protection but it doesn't go into detail what this is or how to reset it. I could imagine that since the belt broke while the AC was on the system could think there is an issue with the compressor and shut it off but I can't figure out what to check or how to reset it. The AC system was checked a few months ago and has been producing cold air so I don't think there is a coolant level issue.
View 2 RepliesSo the car was making a strange creaking noise from the column (the point where the wheel attaches to the column); then on a drive up north, i noticed that the horn had stopped working. Shortly after, the airbag light and warning came on, and I lost all power functions to the wheel (phone and radio control). Cruise, etc, all still work.
I'm guessing that the power harness took a dump, but unsure. Car going in on this weekend.
My 2010 Wolfsburg Tig makes rubbing noises when I turn the wheel but not moving. The noise sounds from the wheel shaft. The noise goes away when the car is moving. What's noise? Is it a normal noise for Tig?
View 6 RepliesThere is a new issue with our 2012 Tiguan S 4Motion. On several occasions the wipers did not turn on when the stalk switch was moved through its positions. Right now, the switch and wipers are working but we don't know for how long.
One interesting fact is that when the switch is left in the on position, the wipers eventually start working. This delay can be as long as 5 minutes.
I scanned with VCDS and found no faults. I monitored the switch position with no issues in any of the 4 positions. Forcing the output causes the wiper motor to work as well. Since the wipers will not operate with the hood open I also checked the status of the hood switch. That too had no errors and responded correctly, disabling the wipers when the hood was unlatched/opened.
Having issues with your wipers not responding to the switch inputs? I will continue to monitor it and will scan with VCDS if I can catch it in the act.
I own a 2009 VW tiguan 2TSI 4WD. Lately i am experiencing undercarriage low tone grinding noise as i made turns at slow speed. i am not sure if the noise is coming from the rear or front. Why and what should i do about it.

View 6 RepliesJust having a bit of an issue here, my fuse box cables are getting pretty hot and I don't know why. I replaced the fuse box itself and replaced the cable that goes from the alternator to the fuse box and its still getting hot. It only gets hot after I drive the car. Not sure if it's normal.
Before changing the fuse box and cable, the car's lights would flicker and my car would stall out here and there, also at times when I powered off the car the radio will turn off and turn right back and the clock will reset to 12:00. So I did some research and someone told me to change the fuse box and the cable that goes to the alternator. Did that and it fixed the issue, but the cables are still getting hot....
Ever since i got my car back from getting a new oil pan, the cluster lights and nav screen seem dimmer than it should be at night. the Cluster lights seem to flicker a bit as well.
This has been going on for about a month, I had been out of town with the Phaeton when i noticed this happening. I figured it was the batteries as both are the original ones and the volts were a bit low. So i had both replaced on Friday when i got back into town. The Dealer was supposed to check out the light flickering problem and they told me there was no problem when i got it back.
I picked it up this morning and did not notice any problems until it was dark out. Same issues: cluster lights and nav screen dimmer than usual and flickering cluster. Also the driver's side headlight bulb was flickering.
