My front wipers have quit and have seen a similar thread a while ago indicating that this is something others have encountered. This happened once before about a month ago, and they started up again a few days later. So I don't think it is the motor. The back ones work, the fluid works, but no fronts.

View 7 RepliesI bought a good running and clean ' 87 Caravan last year and it's a good one. When I bought it, the speed of the windshield wipers were very slow. The delay part of the wipers didn't work. Recently, the wipers quit working all together. I checked the fuses, they are fine. I have an ' 89 Caravan parts van that I removed the "tested and working" wiper motor. Installed it and it's still not working. What else am I missing here?
View 6 RepliesI have had lots of work done trying to fix this dangerous problem of the wipers malfunctioning or not working at all. No one can figure out why the wipers work perfectly whenever I get to the shop..but sometimes quit or won't start or work at the wrong speed when I need them, in the rain. I have had the multifunction switch replaced, the error codes shown nothing wrong..they want to replace the body control module, plus programming etc... but won't guarantee it will work.
I am thinking of having an "override switch" installed that goes directly to the wiper motor, so I can turn them on whenever they quit functioning normally. I am worried that unless the existing wiring that goes to the control module...is unattached, when the over ride switch is used...that it could send a stray voltage back to the module and disrupt or damage it... Maybe I should trade the truck off...but it only has 50K miles and runs beautifully and rides even better, plus I really like it. Dodge - 1500 - SLT ....
I just bought a used 2004 Touareg. I think I got a great deal.
I have noticed the noisy windshield wipers, the condensation on the windshield, minor binding problems when turning, and some hesitation/jumpiness in the throttle. I talked to a dealer today and they said if I had a list of things to fix, they could do it in a day.
Just got my Touareg a little over a week ago and used the wipers for the first time today and noticed that they make a rather loud noise everytime they wipe the windshield (I believe the driver-side blade is making most of the noise). It's hard to describe the noise but it's probably the most annoying. It seems to be loudest when it's drizzling or misting and the wipers engage (triggered by the auto-sensor). How to to resolve it?
View 10 RepliesEvery time my wipers go they chatter or bounce on the glass as they go across. Even when there is a TON of water on the windshield it will still do this... though not as much. It seems to happen more at the bottom of the wiper.
I don't know if it is a design flaw with the wipers, if I just have a bad set of blades, or what could cause it. In the past with other cars I have only had this problem when I tried to wipe dry glass.
I have an 04 jetta and have replaced the wiper motor, the relay and the switch. I'm not sure where to go from here.

View 1 RepliesMy wipers stopped working. They quit working and then they worked one day and haven't worked since. I've got codes 02071 and 00153 in my cent electronics module. I'm trying to cover the easy/cheap options first. I've checked the f31 and f22(was empty) under the hood and all seems well. Are there any relays or anything else I could check? Also, I realize there's a TSB regarding the wipers but would it apply out of warranty?
View 7 RepliesThe digital dash went out a while back and I never fixed it. Now if the lights are on dim the left headlight will not come on and the right will flicker like a strobe. When the brights are on, the right works normally, but the left will flick on and off. When the left light goes off the speedometer quits working, the abs and trac lights will come on, the cruise quits working, and the wipers quit working. Sometimes it works normally, but the problem is more frequent of late. Hitting bumps in the road seems to effect it sometimes, which points to a short or something poorly connected. Is this a multi-switch issue or a lighting control module issue, or both, or something else.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 Buick Century. The wiper controls are all goofy. The delay seldom ever works, just goes into slow steady speed most of the time. And they go through several more cycles when wipers are shut off. No doubt some entire multifunction module will have to be replaced.
View 8 RepliesThe windshield wipers on my '98 Volvo S90 seem kaput. I can hear the motor but the arms don't move. I am assuming it's the wiper transmission and have been quoted astronomical amounts for repair.
View 4 RepliesWhen driving in the rain, I've had the scary experience of the windshield wipers suddenly stop working. Maybe 30 seconds later, they start working again. I'm just glad the cars in front of me have had their lights on. It even seems that the wipers go the same speed no matter how fast I want them to. Also, the blades do rub against the windshield. Is it the linkage or should I simply replace the blades?
View 2 RepliesWell we got our first snowfall here and since buying the Tiguan and I had to clean windshields this morning. Go to lift the wipers off the windshield to clean under them and "THUNK"; they don't lift higher than a couple of inches above the windshield and they certainly don't stay there while I'm trying to scrape, brush, clear off snow and ice. The hinge on the wiper arm is below/under the trailing edge of the hood! This is a horrible design flaw.
Not mention that when knowing that we are going to get horrible freezing rain/snow, I would typically lift my wipers while away from the car so they would not freeze to the windshield. Clearly I cannot do this on the Tig.
This design flaw will lead to faster wearing of wiper blades through ice not being cleared and blades being frozen to the windshield in wet turning to freezing weather, a fairly common occurrence here. Like last night.
How do those of you in wintery climes deal with this issue? Is it only on the face-lifted '12s and '13s?
This is on a 2006 GS3. I don't know if this is how it's always been, but after I picked up the car from service at the lex dealer yesterday i especially noticed that the windshield wipers don't go all the way down when they are off or at the "bottom" of the wipe motion. especially the one on the passenger side - when the wipers are idle it's sitting maybe 3" above its base if you understand what i am trying to say. Is this normal? or is it just now i am noticing this. it's not really in the way to impede my vision but i just find it odd.
View 14 RepliesI have a 7.3l 02 f450. The wipers won't work on any low speeds and only on the fastest will they work. And if you switch it from the fastest to any other speeds, the wipers stop right where they are.
View 1 RepliesMy 03 GX470 has an issue where the windshield wipers will randomly stop working. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, auto, low, high, they work fine for a few minutes, then just stop mid stroke. They sometimes start back again on their own after a minute or so, but usually, I have to turn the switch to other settings a few times, to get it going again. Inevitably though, the wipers only work for a few minutes more, before stopping again. What could be causing this?
View 5 Repliestell a difference between "Lo" and "Hi" with your wipers? I'm worried mine might be failing because on Skippy there's not 10c worth of difference between the two. Hi is barely faster than Lo.
Also, wheres the wiper motor located? Is it under the vent cowl with the wiper arms?
Windshield wipers don't work at all. Not even a little bit.
I first had a problem in the summer. The wipers stopped working for a day or two and then started working fine again. Now, they don't work at all. The fuse is fine (and was replaced even though it was fine). It isn't the switch as that has been replaced. It isn't the motor/wiper arms as that has been replaced. I don't see any damaged wires or anything.
I am hoping I am missing something really simple.
My windshield wipers aren't working. I can hear the relay click and I've checked the fuse. I found this ground wire, what it goes to?
