I purchased an '07 Touareg within the last 30 days. Right after purchase, I began to hear a tapping/flapping sound from the front passenger side, seeming to be somewhere in the dash.
I currently have it at the dealership and have been getting mixed answers. First they thought it was something they could fix and today I was told that it was a "normal sound on a Touareg".
I have a 2004 Touareg with a 2-zone climatronic system. A while back (hard to quantify exactly), my wife noted that she couldn't ever get warm on her side. I stuck a temperature sensor in the vents and cycled through the temperature settings on both sides. On the driver's side, the air varied with the setting. On the passenger side, it did not.
The absolute biggest problem I'm having, is that here in Florida, I get ice cold air blowing on the bottom of the windshield which causes significant fogging. I can adjust the air to blow away from the windshield, but I obviously get some "blow around" and end up with spots of condensation on the outside of the window. The condensation is almost solely on the passenger side.
I pulled the dash off and replaced the temperature sensor on the passenger side. It actually fixed the problem -- but that "fix" only seemed to last about two or three weeks. After measuring temperatures, the temperature tracked with the setting -- on both sides. Now, the problem has returned and I'm ready to replace the damper motor for the mixing damper on the passenger side. But, after reviewing the eBahn manual, they need the VAS 5051/5052 to intiate a "service position". . . I obviously don't have the VAS 5051.
So, my questions: Is it damper actuator? I also understand the climatronic module "could" be bad. Could the second temperature sensor have actually gone bad? Can the VAG-COM be used to intiate the service position? If not, what are my options?
Whenever I applies a brake and the was almost stop, I always heard a strange sound from the front passenger side. What is happened?
View 8 RepliesI was coming home from a trip and started to here this banging sound coming from the passenger side in the front under the vehicle. It already sounds like it busted up some gears cause you can here it being tossed around inside the casing. The vehicle will drive but once I get to around 10 mph it would start banging sounding like gears are messed up.
There is no binding there is nothing that makes the car slower but something is broke. I am wondering if there is a gear box under there near the center console and over to the passenger side in the front. Funny thing is... Is that it started in the back rear but stopped then the front started and then broke something. The back is fine though. Think this could be the All wheel drive also or some part of it.
I bought a use 2009 Matrix S 2.4L (2AZ-FE) with about 81000 miles on it. when the car is at idle i hear a light tapping sound on the passenger side. It sounds like the engine but am not sure what it might be. What is causing the tapping sound and how to fix it? (i saw some ppl post about the OCV.) The car also has a light vibration when am at a stop n in gear. Its annoying because i bought a car not a tractor.

I thought it was the GPS I put in there, but it's covered with a microfiber cloth and it's pretty tight there so I don't really expect movement. I checked the door pocket and there's nothing there that I can see or feel.

Here's the kicker: It only happens when I turn LEFT!!!! I checked and there is nothing obvious that sticks out to touch the tire when it turns...
My front drivers side pillar is flapping around and won't stay in the set position. It seems to be the washer that the one of the clips goes into (at the very bottom of the pillar) has corroded.
So firstly I am trying to take it off - but after reading the removal of windscreen instructions I see:
21. REMOVE FRONT BODY PILLAR OUTER RH
a) Remove the nut.
I can't see a nut and if it's under the pillar how do I access it?
And then
34: INSTALL FRONT BODY PILLAR OUTER RH
a) Exchange the clip with a new one
What clip is this referring to and what is the part number.
I have a 2006 with 15,000 miles and I have noticed under the front of the car on the passenger side there is some type of oil or fluid leaking. Its not leaking on the ground leaving a puddle its some type of build up. What could it be from? When in service for oil changes service never noticed anything. I am due for 15,000 oil change and want to have it checked.
View 1 RepliesI noticed that when I was driving the other day, the right front passenger lower speaker made this terrible popping/thunder sound. I took the REG in today and the lady told me that there is a faulty speaker and amp, and that they are ordering a new set from Germany. She also told me that one of VW's touareg reps was in town today and she is reporting this problem to him so this will not be future problem with touaregs.
View 5 RepliesI recently had my 20k mile service done which included a tire rotation. Perhaps my understanding of a tire rotation is incorrect but I noticed the rear passenger side wheel was moved to the front passenger side. If the tires were left on the original rims as is, that means it was simply moved from the rear to the front. Is this right? The reason I noticed this is because I have a little curb rash on my rear passenger side rim which now is up front.

He stated that while performing my 10k service, he noticed that there was a crack on my lower engine cover (splash guard) on my front passenger side and that the tire was worn on the inside almost to the metal. He stated that a driver must of hit a curb or a pot hole at a high speed to cause this type of damage... My wife and myself are the only ones who drive it and we are sure we have not hit any curbs or gone over any pot holes at HIGH speeds... some pot holes but nothing my old jeep couldn't handle...
My complaint is that I was hoping that the TReg would turn out to be the off road beast that VW has advertised it to be, but am disappointed that only after 10k miles I need an alignment and a tire change and have not even been off road... what should I expect in the years to come.. I am hoping to not have to treat this Truck like a car...
How to replace a front (passenger side) fog light bulb on a 2006? I removed the plastic cover and see several screws. There are no instructions in the manual.

View 7 RepliesSometimes when closing either the front driver or passenger door, it seems as though the door is not closing properly and it sounds like the latches are striking metal against metal. The doors always close and the noise does not occur all the time, in fact it occurs on a very seldom basis. The noise is very annoying and definitely does not sound right. I can not repeat the problem at will and I fear the dealer will not be able to locaate, unless it happens just as they close the door. The doors do close tight, but the sound is awful (sharp metal hitting metal sound).
View 2 RepliesI have this light tapping sound that I don't believe is native to the otherwise healthy Prius II I'm currently driving. Mine is a 2007 Prius II with about 106,000 miles. The sound occurs persistently when the vehicle is ON but the engine is not running and the ventilation system is off. If I press down on the brake pedal I hear a light tapping similar to tappets in older cars.
But since the engine is not running at this point I don't think the problem is there. If I let up almost all the way on the brake the noise goes away. I bought this car with 103,000 so I know there may be things that I need to tend to. I'm not experiencing any braking problems. I'd rather have some idea of what's making this sound before I check with a mechanic and incur a few hundred dollars of expense.
My 2007 manual transmission Hyundai elantra makes a single "tch" sound in the front passenger side. It does it at high speeds in 5th gear over long distances. Also if the car sits for a while it will make the noise right after shifting to second gear if the rpms are a bit high. What it could be?
View 2 Replies2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT... My brother took my truck off road yesterday by himself and when I left there was a noise on the passenger side. It sounds like slowly tapping an empty barrel, it ranged from a low noise and a little louder. Randomly while driving... Bumps in the road wasn't the problem or turns didn't make it either. I found a thin stick with burrs stuck underneath and took it out but when I left driving again it still made that noise. It might vary by speed but I doubt it I only drove a couple times and that's all I perceived so far. I am wondering if I should be driving it at all now? until I can get it looked at I also called my brother and asked if he hit any bumps or holes real hard but he said no hoping he's not lying to me.
View 1 RepliesDeveloped a very annoying plastic creek/ tapping sounds from the passenger side C pillar. Almost sounds like it coming from between the c pillar and the rear window, but can't be sure. It's definitely trim related and not suspension. Also how difficult it would it be to remove the C pillar Plastic cover?
Lastly, how many have had success in getting rattles/ squeaks worked out after the 1 year adjustment warranty? I did mention that on a service visit when it showed up right before the warranty expired, but it was very warm that day and the rattle went away.
The sound is coming from the front passenger side. The noise gets louder the faster I go, put in neutal and noise still there press brake noise there turn wheel no change in pitch. Jacked it up and there's no play in wheel. Just changed both front wheel bearings 6 months ago.
Just changes all brakes today and got all new tires today. I'm thinking maybe the differential bearing but not sure and if so how to change it. I travel from Mississippi to Baton Rouge, LA everyday for work, about 240 miles round trip. What would happen if a bearing went out while driving 70 mph on interstate.
Recently been having a rattle sound from the inside ( passenger front side ) sounds like the door card area? Haven't been able to figure it out. Only happens when I accelerate "strongly". Have had my JoeZ axle back for a nice amount of time. Happens once in a while, not every time.
