Touareg :: Driving Down A Slippery Slope - Low Or ABS

Dec 28, 2004

I was driving down a steep hill the other night, going about 10 mph. It was very slick, with a few inches of somewhat wet snow. All settings were normal, and when I started to gain speed, I stepped on the brakes. As the wheels locked up and the ABS kicked in, I could not get enough traction to slow down, and I wound up sliding through the upcoming intersection. Fortunately, no one was coming, so I was OK.

I have a lot of experience with ABS. My question is this... Should I have engaged LOW, and relied on Hill Decent to maintain my speed, or should I have just made sure that my speed never increased but remained in HIGH? Or is sliding down a slope like this inevitable?

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Crunching Or Cranking Noise In Suspension When Driving Down A Slope

I have 2011 Elantra that I was driving down a slope yesterday and heard some weird noises. The slope had some holes.

While I was going down slowly, I heard my right front making noises. It sounded something like crunching or cracking noise coming from the suspension maybe? I also noticing this when I go over uneven bumps, I am here the same noise as well.

Is this normal? I got about 35K on my car now.

Golf/GTI VI :: Loud Pop From Front Suspension Area While Driving On Slanted Slope

About 2 weeks ago i installed my silverlines on my 2012 gti. Everything was fine until today So i'm not slammed by no means; i have close to a fingers width of gap.

Today while driving i took a slanted slope while pulling into a driveway. I heard a loud pop from the front suspension area. On the way home while driving at slow speeds and hitting mild bumps i could hear a rattling sound and a popping sound from the front area.

I looked down when i got home and noticed by front left sway bar endlink was completely loose. Somehow the nut loosened itself. So i tightned it up and figured that was my problem.

Well it seems that fixed half of my problem. The loud pops when tweaking the frame through roads that are slanted (driveways) went away but i still have a loose rattling sound.

Camry :: 2005 - Surging Or Transmission Slippery?

I just notice this problem after I bought this used 05 Camry I4. When I was running at a mild speed said 30-40 miles, the engine will accelerate by itself and the RMP will jump to around 3000-4000 instantly with a pretty loud noise like you are stepping on gas while stay at N gear and the speed won't go up a little bit. The problem seems won't cause much impacts on driving since the RMP will drop to normal very quickly and such thing only happen occasionally. After doing some search online, I really don't know what kind of problem it is, I did check my transmission fluid lever and found it is in normal area.

Volkswagen - Rabbit :: EPC Light Only When Raining And Slippery

I have a 2006 VW Rabbit with 106k miles. It is an automatic. Strange problem: if it is raining AND the traction control symbol comes on (I slip), then the EPC light comes on and the car is slow to shift and has poor acceleration. This does not happen if it is not raining and it does not happen just when it's raining. One mechanic recommended cleaning the throttle body, but since the car runs great all other times, this didn't make sense to me.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Hard To Drive On Slippery Roads

My 2013 Sonata 2.4L 4cyl is very hard to drive when it's slippery out (snow, ice).

The throttle is so touchy, it just wants to spin as soon as you touch the gas pedal. It's manageable on dry pavement. It has always been like this since new, but this winter there's been so much snow I'm getting a little annoyed by it. Even with traction control I have a hard time making headway from a dead start.

Tires should be OK - only have 12,000 miles on them.

Is there a cure for this issue? Re-mapping EFI??

Lincoln - Towncar :: Slippery Transmission When It Comes To A Very Little Hill Not Taking The Gear

Recently did Transmission rebuild soon after noticed that it's slippery. When I start the car in the morning it's not rolling as it should. I let it worm little like 3minutes then start driving but still it's slippery when it comes to a very little hill not taking the gear. After driving on the straight road for 4-5 blocks then its fine no problem at all. Only when car gets cold this issue happen.

Prius V :: Roll Back A Bit On A Steep Slope

When driving Prius v 2012, I've noticed that prius will roll back a bit when stopped on a steep slope. I think it is due to cvt transmission design.

For example Subaru have a "hill holder" button, I did not noticed anything like this on prius or is there one?

Caravan/Voyager :: Brake Shudder On A Downhill Slope

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 4.0L 47K miles. I am having a bad issue with the brakes.

I have had to replace the front brake pads and rotors 3 times and going on the 4th time IN LESS THAN 47K MILES. The brakes seem to work fine in city driving where the streets are flat. The problem is when driving on any kind of a downhill grade. If you try to brake on a downhill slope the brakes shudder so bad that you cannot only feel the steering wheel shake, you can SEE it shake.

The Dealerships say the problem is warped rotors and everything is fine after installing a new set or turning the old set. After the 2nd set of "OEM" rotors supplied by the dealerships (two different Dealerships to be exact), I got fed up and installed top of the line NAPA Ceramic pads and Rotors, which do the exact same thing after less than a year/7k miles. This van is not a commercial vehicle, and is not overloaded or used for towing.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2012 GLS Rolls Backwards On A Slope

I purchased an 2012 Sonata GLS a couple months ago. Yesterday I decided to do an oil change, so I brought out my ramps and proceeded to drive up on them, the ramps are about 4 feet long so I have to be careful how much I accelerate to make sure I don't go over them, as I was driving up on them I noticed that even though I was in drive if I took my foot off the gas the car would immediately roll backwards off the ramp. I'm curious to see from other owners if this is normal behavior? The 2013 Altima I had was able to drive up the ramps and if I took my foot off the gas it would stay put. I also notice when I'm backing out and I switch to drive the car still moves backwards a little bit even though I just switched to drive - again I'm not sure if this is normal behavior since I've never had this issue with other cars I've owned.

The rear end on my truck feels slippery when starting to drive from a stop sometimes, and also when you drop the hammer to pass vehicles on the highway. Acura - Rsx :: 2006 - Whining Noise At 2500 Rpm / Less Power When Going Up A Slope

I have a 2006 RSX base model. got 134,000miles on it. recently it starts to making whining noise when the rpm gets to 2500-3000rpm. The car also started to have the cricket chirping like sound. Had the oil changed, tune up already. The sound seems to get louder, and the car seems to have less power. Especially when going up a slope you can hear the engine revving, and car don't want to move. Before this car would go up these slope like it was nothing. My brother say the sound is coming from the engine.

Prius (2004-09) :: Parked On Very Slight Slope - Red Triangle Warning Light On

Yesterday I parked on a very slight slope (the front sat maybe 1 half to 1 foot higher than the rear) for a few hours. It was the end of my carport. When returned to move it forward and park, it was dead. So I put a charger on it and got it started but then the red triangle warning light was on saying that there was a problem with the parking system.

Touareg :: Driving In Deep Sand

I decided to take the day off and run out to Melbourne Beach...there are a couple of places off A1A with beach access - but there is some mighty deep sand too...
I locked the differential, jacked it up and turned off the ESP...didn't have any problems at all - but there was a moment...

I guess that the best advice for getting through sand is to keep up your momentum and turn in little bits. I guess I could have deflated the tires a bit, but I'd like your opinions...

Touareg :: AC Did Not Work After Driving For 20 To 25 Minutes

2005-V6 with 83k miles. The A/C did not work after driving 20 to 25 minutes when the temperature hits 85 degrees. Usually did not work all day but started to work fine the next day and if temperature did not reach 80 degrees, will work all day.

The compressor did make a humming noise that you can hear with the window close.

Finally took the car when the A/C was not working and they saw it at the dealer. After a week I got a call today that the temperature sensor was bad, they are testing and should be ready tomorrow.

Will that fix the issues? what about the noise coming from the compressor.
