I recently put back my stock haldex and since then I keep having my esp light turning on and remaining on. If I turn the car off for a while, and turn it back on, it is gone and then comes back and stays on.
View 11 RepliesI own a 2002 GTI 1.8T, it only has 69000 miles on it, fully loaded, everything but power seats. So far I have had major issues on it. At first the car was randomly turning off and the EPC light came on, engine light is on and airbag light is on.
So far the car has a new speed sensor that fixed the EPC light. Engine light came on I plugged the computer in and code came up to replace the temperature and ignition sensor, took care of that, but light is still on. Airbag light is on for some time and Autobarn wants 150$ to check it but not fix it, and im not going to be doing that.
I also have new front brakes, new CV joints, and new tires on it.
The issues are at hand: If i am at a stop light the car will just turn off randomly, I can turn it back up but I want to stop that part. Sometimes the radio will go off and turn on by itself at random times.
When I am making a hard left, I hear a jolt in the back like something pushed the car and the car will die. Just yesterday I was driving, the ABS and Traction light came on and the back tires screeched and the car just floored by itself.
Yesterday the window did not want to go down and fell out of the socket and currently i have tape on the window to hold it up, i can live with that.
My buddy with his 2000 jetta 2.0 that starts then stalls. The immobilizer light turns on and off again as it should during the starting process. Tried reprogramming the key with the 2 key programming process, also tried removing power from the battery and touching the leads together but these are fixes for the immobilizer but the light doesn't stay flashing. Is there anything I can try while waiting for my vag-com scanner to be delivered....
View 1 RepliesI just replaced the steering rack today, things i noticed on the drive home:
I get the traction control light (i know its called something else, cant think of it) when i accelerate while turning. it'll cut the power to the throttle for a few seconds/ until i slow down or stop turning.
The light also comes on when i brake slightly hard. I am not anywhere close to locking up the brakes so i know its not the ABS. Whats going on?
My coolant indicator light keeps returning on my 01 Jetta GLS 2.0
I have searched in the forums and read that its likely a coolant sensor and requires replacing the coolant tank. I am wondering if there are other possible causes as I want to drive it for another 3k before replacing tank (as I will be having timing belt replacement and coolant flush at that time). Previous owner had universal (green) coolant in and it will be replaced with proper coolant when the flush is done.
The indicator comes on within a minute of starting the car. The thermostat seems to operate just fine and car is not overheating. I have topped off with diluted water, it definitely has proper level.
Safe to ignore as long as I watch coolant level and temp?
On a separate issue: I tried to use code reader but it would not connect to my car (had successfully connected at some point prior), I believe it may be because I have an aftermarket radio (the K-wire issue?). If that is true, should it resolve if I swap the stock radio back in? I need to be able to connect to the car eventually when it is time to renew registration (for state emissions control testing).
I'm having a weird issue with my passenger side turn signal light. It's more of an annoyance than an actual problem. When I turn on my headlights both yellow turn signal lights also usually turn on but the passenger side one is not turning on anymore. The odd thing is that it still blinks as normal when I engage the turn signal. I replaced the bulb but it did not resolve the issue. I'm thinking it's an electrical short somewhere. It's not the wiring in the headlight housing because I tried an old housing I kept when I replaced my headlights last year and I still had the same issue. What I should check first?
View 1 RepliesHad an issue with "check" engine light turning on and "cruise" control light flashing, intermittently. Dealer said we had dirty oil contaminating some solenoid valves in the system but we had just done an oil change and do so every 3-5K (car has 170K). They recommended switching around the sensors and doing an "oil flush" with another oil change. The warning light problem hasn't recurred, in the past month, since we started giving the gas cap a few extra turns after a fill-up. We're getting ready to buy a new car and don't want to give what might be a serious problem over to the next owner.
View 6 RepliesMy turning light needs a bulb replacement (I believe, since when I click to turn right it makes quicker clicking sounds). Does this mean bulb is out or wiring is out?
As for the side light (also on the right) has fallen off and can no longer be screwed back in place as that part has broken off so I will be buying the replacement part/lamp. However, when it fell, the wiring was disconnected so i have lost the bulb and any connection to it. I think I still have the rubber wiring harness, just missing the wiring & bulb.
My ESP light has been turning off and on by itself the last few weeks. It doesn't happen too frequently but it's bothering me... Sometimes the light is on when I turn on the car and sometimes it turn on when I'm driving normally. The light is not flashing and when I stop the car and kill the engine and then re-start the car, the light turns off! What could be the problem? The car drives just fine, I just want to fix whatever it's wrong before I get stranded and the car is a 03' Jetta 1.8T.

View 2 RepliesA month ago, it didn't start out of the blue. When I went over to try to start it, it wasn't turning. Seemed like the battery died. It's under warranty so the dealer came and picked it up. They called the next day and said that it started without any issues.
Today, my gf made it to work, but when tried to start it again, it wouldn't start. She got it towed again. The dealer called and said they were able to start it without any problems. We told them that we had the problem and was concerned. Then they responded with they have to keep the car for a couple of days to do some testing. Now my gf is out of a car for the next two days.
When I start the car I can hear (the engine I think?) squeak only while it's turning over, not after it has started. I also hear this squeak when I put it in park, reverse and drive. I don't hear it while the car is running, so I'm thinking maybe it's the motor mounts?
View 24 RepliesSo my ABS light turned on along with my MIL about a week ago. Figured the ABS module is done.
Today I turned on the car and now my MIL doesn't light up. Pressed the ASR switch (normally lights up MIL) and nothing. I went as far and unplugging the battery for a few minutes and even unplugging the MAF to see if it will light up.
Nothing. I highly doubt the light in the cluster is done.
I just recently changed the battery in my key fob and, after starting the car and driving a few minutes, noticed a flashing light on the dash and the information center stated "AFS turning light malfunction, see manual"...
It has happened a few times since then but have not gotten a chance to see of my turning lights still function at night or not.
The light that comes on when you're turning, it's located behind the parking lights and lights up to the side, has went out on the drivers side. I am needing to know how to change it out and if you know what bulb it takes.

I just want to know how to turn my DRLs off on my GTi, its the sunroof nav package with BI Xenons. I think I heard you need to use VAG COM to load some special code, and that's about all I heard. So where to get it to turn these off.
View 12 RepliesRecently the dashboard lights for my .:R have been taking a few minutes to turn on after I turn on my headlights and the car has been running for a bit. What could cause this, my headlights turn on fine, its just the interior lights for the dash, radio and climatronic that don't turn on immediately, they end up turning on after a few minutes but it varies every single time.

View 3 RepliesI have a problem with that, when i'm in a low height with my car, i turn right and the hole car vibrates, like rubbing in the axle, its no heating the frame, both sides are new, i change because of that, check everything, also change engine mount, top mounts are camber plates, running bags over coil, and all suspension its new. only part thats original are the front bearings, can be the bearings?
View 17 RepliesThis weird thing happened to my Golf MK6 this morning. First when I turned on the car, I realised that there was "engine fault" on the screen but it went away. Then after about 10 minutes drive, when I turned on the indicator, the wiper also turned on (only once).
View 1 RepliesI lowered my car recently and it makes a wicked rubbing noise when I turn right at a decent speed, I've heard the axle rubs i guess what you'd call the seat of the strut in the front, is this the case? and if so, what can be done to correct this issue, because by no means am i that that low, I've seen much lower.
