Any solution for the annoying light message on the console indicating that the passenger airbag is off? In other words, if no one is sitting in the seat I need to be reminded my entire drive that the airbag is off? Does this even make sense?

View 7 RepliesSo over the past few weeks I've grown accustom to my airbag warning sensor and light on, a lot.
First time two weeks ago - Airbag light came on, brought it in...Repaired wiring harness reset light. Light comes on next day, make an appt.
Second time today, brought it in...Just picked it up, fired up the Treg airbag light comes right back on. I was told another harness was repaired and something about a side airbag firing something...
So my third time is in the next week or two... fab. They say the whole harness is to be replaced, which is cool. I respect my service team, the engineers as well... I'm going with the flo, I'm pretty laid back.
My questions is...How long do I need to go with the flow if this keeps happening? All the while this is going on, for every issue I have that's super legit airbag, stepper, running gear. They keep giving me the hook up on, new wood trim, new headlight switch, new mirror switch, new buttons on my center console, new buttons on the nav....
Another new annoying feature about my '05 Touareg is the passenger side airbag off light. Is there any way to turn the light off permanently? - without a passenger in the seat
View 7 RepliesLast night, my 2008 Prius was hit from the rear. The bumper was damaged as well as a few starches on the hatch. However the latch for the hatch was move forward so the hatch no longer latches. Also during the collision, my daughter's heavy backpack was throw against the back of the passenger seat with enough force to hurt her back.
The airbag warning light remains on along with the dash indicator saying the airbag is off. Does mean all the airbags are disabled? Can this be reset? The car will be professionally repaired but I still need to drive it until I can get it repaired.
Every time I start the truck, the Passenger Side Airbag light is on, which is saying the airbag is turned "OFF." I have to push the button to turn the light off, which turns the airbag "ON." How do I reset this to where the airbag is "ON" until I turn it "OFF?"

2. Disassemble the light unit into its constituent parts. You can pull the display panel off the electronic bit with some modest force, and it'll be obvious how the prism is separated:
Note that I painted the prism surface black with a sharpie. That doesn't work much.
3. Layer a precisely cut piece of thick black paper between the prism and the inside of the panel. Check for a light
leak by holding it up to a bright light. It's tough to cut the paper just right so that there are no light leaks.
4. Reassemble the light unit and stick it back into place.
5. Reseat the head unit.
Warning: you can't just leave the light unplugged. It'll throw an airbag fault. That's why I opted for blocking the light, rather than getting rid of the light altogether.
Possible to turn on and off the passenger side airbag? In order to have a child's car seat in the front I need to be able to turn off the airbag. I need to turn it back on when an adult is sitting there. It is a Touareg 3,2 V6 Tiptronic.
View 6 RepliesI was cleaning out the back seat of my car when I noticed the panel that covers the right rear seat belt and goes up to cover the curtain airbag has somehow come loose. I dropped by the VW dealership and they said that a clip broke off from inside causing this and they were asking me how it happened! How I occupy only the drivers seat in my car.
View 4 RepliesThe battery light came on in my '04 F150 a couple of days ago. Terminals were in need of cleaning, so I took care of that. The next day after driving 50 miles to and from work, the battery light came on again, along with the ABS & Brake light started flashing. After shutting the truck off, it would not start.
Three days later, I have now installed a brand new alternator and battery, only to have the same symptoms pop up about one minute after start up. The warning lights are now accompanied by the passenger airbag light and all engine instruments needle sweep back and forth. Dash lights go dim and bright intermittently as RPM varies.
Do I need old fault codes cleared or is this a PCM issue?
my car is a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser with over 75K on it. My problem is two fold. First, recently the right rear turn signal light shorts out but only in the morning it seems. Because we've been getting a lot of rain in Nashville and the surrounding area, I suspect the high dewpoint and humidity might play a part here but I think I just need to replace the bulb.The second issue is a little more annoying. For whatever reason, the "air bag warning" light on the driver side console comes on and I cannot figure out why.The third issue is a little more pressing. I noticed during the summer whenever I was idling and had the A/C running, occasionally I would hear the engine act like it was about to stall out, like RPMs had dropped significantly. Now I've noticed it does that when the front defroster is running and winter is coming. What can I do about any of these problems listed here?
View 7 RepliesI had my 04 Treg vagged over a year ago to turn off the seatbelt chime and turn on the DRLs when the hi beams are on. I have not have any problems related to the Vag. This week my ESP loght went on so I brought it to the dealer (a new dealer, who has not worked on my car before). Tech states that the Vagging may have screwed up the codes and caused the ESP fault and some of the other strange things that have happened such as Key Battery Not Found and my audio cutting out for 10 minues last week. He said he could not reset the codes because he did not know the factory defaults. He stated he turned my DLRs on when, in fact he actually turned them off.
Before he noticed the Vagging, he changed the Clock Spring. However, the ESP light returned on and they returned the car to me with the ESP light still on. The ESP light goes off when I start the car and initiall drive but it then returns on. Also, the ESP button on the console is lit off stating that ESP is off.
I am installing Sparco Evo Seats, a custom Harness Bar and racing harnesses in my MK4 R32 and have questions about wiring of the airbag and seatbelt sensor. What do I need to do so the airbag light and seatbelt warning light do not come on.
View 2 RepliesI have a very strange issue with the car, it started last week once the weather had cooled down. Over a 3 day period when starting to drive the car from a cold start, after 30 secs, the following 3/4 things would happen.
The master warning light starts flashing with beeping
Message on the console 'Warning Key Detected'
Interior front courtesy light comes on for a few moments then goes off.
This continues until you stop the car. Turn it off. Wait then start again. Once going again it happens all over again. Until the car is warmed up, then it stops completely.
My '04 V8 had been sitting unused for about a week. As I backed out of my garage the airbag warning chime and symbol illuminated. I have gone through many start cycles and added about 200 miles since its onset but the warning persists. I have a drive by with my VW tech Monday for a code read.

My Air Bag warning light is lit. My mechanic hooked up his scanner and it shows no communication. We checked the fuse in the fuse box by the passenger door. All fuses good. Is there a fuse or breaker somewhere else. Scanner does communicate with the engine.
View 2 RepliesI have VW 99 18L automatic Passat. Suddenly, air bag yellow warning light is ON . There has been no accident or crash. Maybe its caz I pulled the seat-belt too roughly, or maybe there is something else to the story. I don't have a scanner. I don't want to go to a dealer/showroom to get the airbags replaced.

View 12 RepliesThe air bag warning light is often, but not always, ON in my 1998 Chevy Astro. Unfortunately, it is ON whenever I seem to have a chance to bring it in for state inspection. My mechanic of many years has been unable to determine the cause.
(Note: An earlier problem with the battery draining was taken care of by turning the Dome Light button to the Off position and leaving it there permanently.)
