Was having problems with trailer wiring blowing a fuse so I pulled a fuse, the wrong fuse, out while it was running and the whole rig died. Key was locked in the ignition. Window down, ect.. The dash lights and radio works that's about all. vagcom will not hookup because I can't turn the ignition on. The alarm goes off if I open any door......
View 8 RepliesI did my biggest screw up today I went to hook up a new battery and didn't notice the terminals were opposite of the old one. I hooked up one and as soon as I touched the other terminal it sparked and the horn honked. I straightened it out but now the car won't start. I checked all the fuses and found one blown. Changed it still no good. What should I check now To all who come to this thread needing the fuse how to, it is on page 2. It is also on a gen 6 Camry 2009 le.
View 14 RepliesI have a 02 Saturn sl2 and every time I pump gas, the nozzle will click every few dollars as if my tank is full even when its near empty or half full.
2 weeks ago: I started my engine up and went about a few feet then my engine went dead. My car would crank but not fire up and I wasn't getting a reading on the instrument panel so I figured it was a fuel pump related problem. I took a look at the fuse panel for any fuses that could be blown or in bad shape. The only fuse I pulled out was the PCM-b fuse but upon further inspection, it was good and after that, it started up fine.
Next day: I get gas after work, drive home, grab a few things, start the car up, get a few feet, dies, won't start, its instrument panel reading, pull the same fuse, put the same fuse back, go on my way.
Next week: So I haven't put any gas in my car for a week and it has been working perfectly. I start to get near 1/4 tank so I put another $25 of gas in, started my car up and only got far enough to get away from the pumps when I notice my gas gauge going down, low rpm, and lost power steering. My car then died as I was pulling into a parking space. I did the same little trick and it started up again.
Today: Make a list of reasons why my car is stalling and plan to fix them from cheapest to most expensive. Start with putting gas line antifreeze as I rule out if there is water in my tank or not. ( I meant to put in one with water absorber, but I put a normal bottle in) Start my car up, get to school which is about 6-10km and when I was pulling in I noticed that my gauge was almost empty. I stopped the car and went to start it up again to see if I would get a new reading but my car just cranked. Tried a few more times but it wouldn't start until I did my little pcm-b fuse trick.
Now I am just wondering what you people think could be the problem but this is my conclusions and debates.
Water/Air in the tank - Why would does my car stop giving me an reading on my instrument panel after it stalls.PCM fault -Why does it only happen shortly after I open my gas tank (or maybe coincidence)PCM fuse blew -It works after I put it back inFuel filter clogged or fuel pump blew -why does my car start after I do the fuse trick.
Gal Pal of mine put the wrong key into the ignition. I was in the middle of no-where when this happened. $600 tow and it's in Gunnison, CO. The "tumbler" is toast. I cant even get the key in the ignition.
I'm sure I will need to buy a new ignition, My question is... does VW offer a new ignition with a programed key, and if they do, is this something I can install myself.
I'm looking at $1000 to have it towed, and I cant be without my "egg".
My Nav system was working okay (the Treg is only 2 weeks old), and yesterday it kept showing me in the wrong location. The sky was heavily clouded and we were having heavy rain. Does the weather affect the system's ability to function properly? Do you need to calibrate it or is there a way to reset it?
View 24 Repliesi have been using 5 w30 in my 2005 Prius with 155 k. Made a mistake of picking up 5 w20 this last time. I have 4k on current engine oil in car. Both are full synthetic ..I change I change my oil every 8 k and the oil filter, at the halfway point 4k . Plan to go back to 5 w30. Would it be advisable to switch back to the 5 w30 now, or run car another 4 k, when oil change is due.

(cold start obviously, keep in mind its cold where i live at this time of year), there is a weird whistling like sound. goes away when the rpm gauge hits 10/ after 1 minute of the engine running. at odd times it will come on again after leaving the car off for a few hours, after work for example. I was told it because I'm using the wrong coolant??
View 4 RepliesI have a 97 dodge caravan engine 3.0. When I start to accelerate my engine fuse 20amp blows. I does not occur every time but yesterday, it did it 6 times and is now getting looked at. I am just curious on what causes this. I did recently have my spark plugs changed so I am thinking something may be arching.
I do have codes that previously came up for my fuel injectors (P0203, p0206). Another code I have is p1294 idle speed performance.
What happened is I went to get in the truck I opened the door and the gauges and blower motor came on by itself like the ignition is in the on position. I put the key in the ignition and the truck didn't do anything. No crank or anything and I did notice the anti theft light blinking really fast. I unplugged the battery and plugged it back up then the truck started but I went to shut it off and pulled the key out the ignition and truck stayed running. But also the blower in the truck and the gauges are still staying on. People keep saying it's my key but why would the stuff cut on by itself inside the truck when I just opened the door?

I got a 97 F250 4x4 w/ 4.6 lt. motor & auto trans. The engine is leaking oil. It looks to be coming from a set of hoses that are on the adaptor that is between the oil filter & the engine block. Also what are the oil lines called? It is leaking motor oil not transmission oil.
Also just pulled my oil dip stick & the whole thing (dip stick & the tube) came off the truck. Seems the tube has rotted away at the oil pan. Is this also a job I can do?
Taking fuse cover off. I tried per the manual but I did not want to apply too much pressure via the screwdriver.
How much pressure do you need to apply; the cover was getting a good bend in it an wasn't moving?
Is there a trick to this (besides taking to the dealer)?
I have an 05 F-150 Lariat 5.4 and it has been going haywire today. While driving if I hit a hard bump the power will cut off (radio, a/c) and even sometimes the truck. Check engine light came on and I pulled codes P2160 & P0506. Also, when it completely cuts off and I start it back up it says "engine in failsafe mode".
View 1 RepliesWhile doing some rewiring of my xm satellite radio in my car. I seem to have broken something electrical (besides the wood trim!) For some reason now the xms cig plug wont work. Though the other one next to it does. I've already swapped out the cig plug with another to see if it was just the plug and that didn't work. The two outlets aren't on separate fuses are they?

Turned out, the No. 16 fuse was, in fact, blown. What caused that, I don't have a clue. Replaced it and it is working again. Hopefully, not a harbinger of electrical gremlins to come.
My left side blinkers keeps Blowing the fuse, I replaced ir 3 times already. First I thought it was the light bulb but my whole left side (driver side) blinkers were out except the one on the side mirror. Is there a relay for the blinkers somewhere that might be bad or something else?

View 8 RepliesThe chime goes 6 times on engine start up. It is repeated every 30 seconds 10 times, i.e. the last series start at 4 1/2 min., a total of 60 clanks. After this it does not sound again if you don't turn the engine off. The seat belt can be removed, the door may be opened - no chime. But if you stop and restart the engine, it starts the process all over again.
View 1 RepliesSo I've visited the dilemma of trying to replace my axles 4 times now... going on a 5th... apparently, my car is one of a kind, its a 2000 5 speed 1.8t fwd... so my issue... the axles for the 2000 5 speed 1.8t are not right, no where near close! The v6 manual axles have the wrong hub end, but the correct tranny side..... the 1.8t automatic axles... are about 4 inches too short but everything else is right..

View 9 RepliesI was having intermittent fuel pressure problems. I replaced fuel pump and relay and was still having the problem. A figured out that wiggling the 20 amp fuse would cause the intermittent. Looking at the connections for the fuse, I can see one side was damaged. I figured I could pull the connector out from the back and fix the connector, but when I took the back off (see picture) I have a purple wire (labeled 1) going to one side of the fuse and a multi-connector (labeled 2) from one wire going to the other side. My luck, it's the multi-connector side that is damaged.
It Looks like the multi-connector goes to the Black and yellow wire. Instead of replacing the box, I figured I could just create an inline fuse for the fuel pump with the purple wire and splice it into the Black/yellow wire.
I can't see any problem with this, just looking for a second opinion. And I'm not sure how it would effect the relay. I can't find a fuse panel wiring diagram anywhere.
