After 12,000 kms of trouble free motoring on my replacement Treg (first one a lemon) it seems to have developed an unusual problem. The best I can describe this prob is that when I go into almost full turning lock (obviously at snail pace speed) the car shudders quite noticeably. The problem occurs intermittently however as of late at least on 50% of occasions. Seems to be worse after reversing uphill a short distance.
View 24 RepliesI have a problem with my VW Touareg 05 plate. When I turn the steering wheel full lock left or right in tight places the car shudders. It doesn't do it all the time but does appear to be getting worse as time goes on. I have been told that it may well be the Stepper motor.
View 9 RepliesI have a dragging/scraping noise (almost like static or some type of friction) that happens when the wheel is anywhere from ~80% to full lock on either side. At first I thought it was wheel rub (have stock wheels and tires), but there was no evidence of that. Dealer checked the noise and said it was "normal".

This happen what I full lock, or almost, the steering wheel to right, u will see on the video, I even show that it don't do it on the other side.
What the hell this can be ?? im on 16'' winter tires, so its not the tires that rubs.
I have installed the Whileline w.a.l.k. and the Tyrol subframe collars 2 months ago so, I doubt it is the subframe?
Possible bad CV joint? but I heard its more kind of clicking noise that this horrible rub.
Possible front-brakes worn?
What else should I take a look ??
My 2013 R has 1770 miles and I just noticed a strange new sound when I turn at really low speed (parking speed) on steering full-lock. The sound is hard to describe, but it starts as low frequency hiss (such as someone exhaling) and then slight rattles from suspension. Power steering? View 8 RepliesI have an 02 Elantra GT. I was dropping off a friend who knows cars and went to turn around, turned the wheel to full lock to make the turn and heard a squeal. I asked my friend what it was and he said it was the P/S and I just needed to add some P/S fluid. I got some fluid and sure enough when I went to fill up the reservoir it was below to MIN line, not too much below but still below it. I filled up the fluid and didn't hear the problem for the rest of the day but this morning I heard the same noise when I was leaving for work. I figured the fluid had to work its way though but am not sure if there is something else I should check or do.

I have been looking under the hood for 2 days now and cannot seem to locate it. I have located the brake fluid reservoir which was flushed out today...night and day difference in braking btw. Now this power steering is bugging me but i cant locate the reservoir.
View 8 RepliesI've read about transmission shift problems between certain gears with these cars but don't know if my symptom applies. 2004, AWD with 35k miles, however mostly short stop and go driving.
When applying the brakes to come to a complete stop, there's kind of a abrupt downshift that I can even feel in the brake pedal. The car even has a last second little shake and a bit of a clunk..

Definitely not the transmission. Pulling the ABS/VSC/TC fuse , the car brakes normally. Skid control affects turning in curves and TC affects acceleration. So, it's ABS related..

What to hunt down if there is a creaking sound when the car is parked and turning full lock left and right? Sounds almost like the brakes are locked but slipping slightly but I don't have my foot on the brake.
View 7 RepliesWaiting at a light, hear screeching of tires under full lock. Glance in the rear view mirror to see a Corolla about to smack into us. Missed getting pushed into the van in front of us by less than a foot.
Will be getting estimates this week. I'm guessing $1500ish. Bumper cover, one of the center sensors and not sure of any structural or crush-able components under the cover.
Very fortunate that everything is still properly aligned where the cover meets the rear quarters and no issues with either power trunk alignment/operation nor exhaust issues.
Corolla didn't fare so well.
When I turn the wheels to full lock, either right or left, I hear a clunking sound. Usually pulling into parking spots, into the driveway, etc.....but only going forward, not in reverse. Where do I start?
View 9 RepliesWhenever I stop my T-Reg (like at a light, etc.) I feel a rumble and can see the RPMs take a quick dip below where the car normally idles (this happens just before the car has fully stopped). Pretty much I feel the rumble for about second and at the same time can see the RPMS rapidly dip. When the car has made its full stop the RPMs come back up and the car idles normally. Sometimes the dip is more drastic than others, but you can definitely feel a rumble or shudder. It almost feels like the rumble associated with a car getting ready to stall; except it never stalls. What is causing this?

Last week I was turning right onto a busy street so I got on the gas hard and all of a sudden it sounds like my transmission was bouncing/shuddering inside the tunnel. It has since happened twice since then, both times while turning right and on the gas hard. I always like to find out as much information as I can about a problem before I take it to my local dealer as the only V-10 they have ever seen is mine and I didn't buy it from them.

View 2 RepliesThis is kind of an odd ball problem since I have not encountered this before, but every time I turn my wheels full left or full right and start moving a really high pitched squeaking sound comes from the front of the car. Is it bad alignment or wear sensors on the brake pads rubbing? the brakes have a lot of pad left so i find that hard to believe.
View 5 RepliesI have just purchased a 2008 Santa Fe Limited and there is a problem with the steering. At slow speed, particularly in reverse when performing a full-lock turn, the power delivery is jerky and the vehicles jumps a bit.
It feels like either the AWD system is binding or the CV joints are operating beyond their limits. I have ready other posts that this is a known problem - the dealer I bought it from said the same, that it is known and seems to be accepted by Hyundai, there seems to be no recall on this and apparently this doesn't happen in post 20009 models when they face-lifted and supposedly changed the steering lock limits.
I'd like to understand more what is happening, see if there is a solution that I can implement, or alternatively if I have to just accept this, then it would be good to get reassurance that what I am feeling is not going to damage something further down the line.
So yet I found out about another common issue but not that publicized. This is the grinding sound when turning at full lock (left or right) in slow speed. I've read several people in the forum who has encountered this. I read different remedies but the most common one is to have the CV boots lubricated.
I have a 2014 Wolfsburg with almost 5k miles. I am really now worrying about my water pump crapping out on me but I heard this grinding sound yesterday.
Had to make a sharp circular turn last night in a parking lot, with the steering turned to full-lock...noticed a very audible clunking or clicking noise during the turn...went away after full-lock turning was released. My hubs are locked in...but I was told there was no issue with leaving them locked in, even during the summer. And there shouldn't be...4x4 disengaged, of course. Must have been the u-joints clicking / clunking? Problem?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 V8 standard suspension Touareg and when I make a turn and turn the wheel all the way to either the right or the left the Touareg feels like the front wheels are skipping and I can feel a shuddering vibration from the steering wheel. I have the Pirellis on it.

I'm contemplating a 4" lift on my 2012 F250/6.2L. It sits at stock height now with 315/70R17, slight rubbing on the mud flaps near full lock.
