Elantra HD (2006-10) :: When Put In Park Car Kept Rolling Like In Neutral And Started Making A Loud Grinding Noise

I have a 2007 Elantra with 138,000 miles. I never had any slipping or jerking or reverse issues in the past. I got into the car put it in reverse just fine then put it in drive and nothing happened, I put it in park and the car kept rolling like in neutral and started making a loud grinding noise. When I put the transmission in any other gear the noise stops but will not move and acts as if in neutral.

TrailBlazer :: Ticking Noise Coming From Passenger Side Of Engine

Sound coming from the engine and it is coming from the passengers side of the engine. The year is 2003, LS model, and four wheel drive. Well, I took it in yesterday and the mechanic said it was the "Camshaft" and this was a normal sound. Not to mention I have had this vehicle in for 6 other problems: 3 times for the four wheel drive light malfunctioning, 2 times for the service engine light coming on and then they had to replace a seal on the left front deferential because it was leaking oil.

Chevrolet - Trailblazer :: Switched From 2WD To 4AWD While In Park / Vehicle Making Loud Noise

Is it possible to cause damage to a vehicle (2003?? Chevy Trailblazer) with an on-the-fly 2WD to 4AWD system by switching to 4AWD when the vehicle is in park or otherwise not driving forward? This was done by someone and now the vehicle is making a loud noise.

Golf IV R32 :: Ticking / Slapping Noise When Idling In Neutral

My R is starting to make some noise when idling in neutral. It's the stock clutch with 135k on it and its starting to sound like it's a single mass flywheel. Ya know kinda like cogs ticking/slapping more that normal. I've done some searching/researching to find something that sounds the same but nothing seems exact.

No hamster wheel squeaking. It's very subtle, can't hear it while standing outside the car but I can when I'm sitting in it. The clutch pedal feels the same too. I've also noticed that first and second gear make more noise than it normally has in the year I've owned it.

Is this just time to change the clutch and throw out bearing? I'm driving to Denver from Minneapolis next week. Should I park it for the trip?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Engine Is Making A Ticking Noise

My engine is making a ticking noise. Louder when I start it and not as intense after it warms up but its still there. I first thought it was one of my pulleys making noise but I brought it to a friend who knows a lot more then I do and he says to check the engine valves. Did some searching online and thinking it might be the valve lash adjuster but not sure.

Anyway whats the best way to go about this? What type of oil should I be using and I also read I should be only buying Hyundai oil filters?

TrailBlazer :: Car Acts Like It Goes To Neutral In Third Gear

My daughter just gave me her 2003 TB, about 180,000 miles. She never serviced the tranny but changed the motor oil religiously. She went to take it out one day and it wouldn't shift out of 1st. There was no warning, such as, sluggish shifting, hard shifting, slipping.

I dropped the pan, (no metal shavings just some grey slimy gunk) changed the 2 shift solenoids, filter and fluid. Now the TB has first and second but acts like it goes to neutral in third (no third). Before I give up on this tranny I was wondering if there is anything else I should look at: vacuum leak, known electrical issues with the tranny, PCM. It does not set any codes.

Ford - Explorer :: Heat And AC Making Ticking Or Flapping Noise For Sometimes

My exlporer heat and A/C system has been making "ticking or flapping" noises for sometime. So, to make it stop I would turn fan to full blast and it would stop and the heater would function fine after that. Last week we hasd a warm spell and I switched to A/C (going through the same process to stop the noise). All was well until I tried to switch back to heat after the warm spell, and now I get nothing but cold air. The noise will only stop when I turn the temp dial to the cold side, but either way, all I get is cold air. Is this something I can fix, and if not what am I looking at for repair cost? I'm freezing!!!

Mercedes-benz - M-class :: 1999 - Making Ticking Noise?

My 1999 Mercedes ML 320 with 180K started ticking when my wife turned the temperature control from cold to hot last week. Before this, it ran fine with a fairly new a/c installed - ~1 year ago. It was a cool morning. I started the car and she turned the control from blue to red. The ticking sound started immediately and only cooler air came out.

The a/c also does not blow cool air anymore either. The ticking is constant and low when the controller is in the blue and louder and faster when the control is turned to red. What happened, what the problem may be, and repair options? I haven't taken it in to my mechanic yet and would like to get some preliminary thoughts.

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 XLT - Engine Making A Ticking Noise

Its getting worse. Noticed it a month or so ago, very slight ticking noise when the engine was cold. It would go away after a minute or two when the engine warmed up. Kinda sounded like a lifter ticking type noise when low on oil but I was not low on oil.

Now its getting more noticeable and it doesn't go away. Very noticeable when I take off or accelerate. less noticeable when I take my foot off the gas but its still there.

What it might be? I am pretty newbie about engines and I don't want some repair outfit telling me I need a rebuilt engine if all I need is to tighten my manifold or something. Because that would be my luck.

2000, XLT, 5 Liter V8, 178K miles.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Engine Making Loud Ticking Noise - Crank Pulley Gone

Oh where do I start. 2003 Santa Fe, V6 Auto, FWD.

The engine has been making a loud ticking noise lately, starting right after an oil change it seemed. It actually sounded a lot like a stuck lifter, so I had an engine flush done, but this did not remedy the problem. Popping the hood one day it was particularly noisy, I noticed that it sounded like it was coming from the serpentine belt tensioner (or there abouts).

Anyway, tonight, *something* finally gave. All of a sudden I heard a squealing noise, then smelled burning rubber, and my battery light came on, and I lost my power steering. I figured that the tensioner finally gave out.

I turned off the vehicle to see what I could see. A bit of melted S-belt was it. I restarted it, and the belt was turning fine again, but while it was idling, I noticed that the crank pulley was shifting in and out now and then. When it moved inward, the S-belt shifted in as well, and started to rub on the timing cover, wearing a hole right through it! Have a look at the attached photo, showing the grove worn right through.

So I'm assuming that my tensioner was fine, and it was my crank pulley all a long. I'm figuring that 3 thing will need replacing:

1. Crank Pulley (the source of the problem)
2. Serpentine Belt (since it's probably half melted)
3. Timing Cover (can't see that water getting in there would be good)

Does this sound accurate?

Chevrolet - Trailblazer :: 2005 - Transmission Slipping Into Neutral Usually When Slowing Down

We own a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer, 8 cyl, 150K miles. Since July 11, the transmission has been slipping into neutral, usually when slowing down. This happens anywhere, and usually in slow (so far) traffic. My husband has been able to get the car to drive either in D3, or has been able to get it back into Drive, and the car just drives off like nothing happened. This usually takes a few minutes of turning it off and on, and shifting gears. Today he drove it in AWD, and it was fine (so far). He normally drives it in 4WD. They have been unable to duplicate this problem and, because there aren't any codes, cannot tell us what's going on. Needless to say, I've had it.

Passat (B6) :: 2007 - Clicking / Ticking Noise When First Started In Morning

My '07 2.0T 6MT has started making a clicking / ticking noise when it is first started in the morning. The car is garaged, so it doesn't get all that cold. The noise seems to be coming from behind the center dash, in the area behind the climate control and radio panels. It doesn't last particularly long (maybe 3 seconds, clicking perhaps 3 times per second or so). It happens whether the radio is on or not, so it's not the CD changer shuffling discs or anything like that. I suspect it has something to do with the Climatronic system's ducting.

I had a Saab that made a noise similar to this, and they had to disassemble the entire dash before they found that the drum that directs air to the various vents was sticking. It ended up costing $1500 in labor to do the job. So I'm looking for a sanity check before I send my dealer on a long, expensive hunt that will likely result in a "no fault found" or "could not duplicate".

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 F250 - Making Ticking / Knocking Noise

I have a 2000 F250 5.4 that has a ticking/knocking noise. After about 30-60 seconds of first starting the truck in the morning, the ticking/knocking noise appears. It sounds like its coming through the exhaust system and seems to be louder under the front passenger side wheel well. When I rev the engine up, it seems to go away. Does this engine have a cam phaser? Could it be timing chain slap?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 F250 Making A Sort Of Ticking Noise

My 2004 f250 5.4 Triton has been making a sort of ticking noise, it almost sounds like my lifters have a little play in them but it also sounds like an exhaust manifold leak. They both would sound about the same and it seems to be getting a little worse of gas mileage than before. Also, the check engine light was on from Saturday into Sunday night then it shut off Sunday night and hasn't been back.

And it started right up. I've been driving it with those things off with no problem. But today it wouldn't start again and its making a ticking noise like the horn is trying to honk.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Mirror Started Making A Clicking Noise

So I was driving my wife to dinner the other night, it was about 30* F out and the mirror started making a clicking noise (of course, I had no clue it was the mirror until I stopped and looked around). Sure enough, the mirror was clicking and the display was going back and forth between the "188" (the start-up display) and "NW" or "W" or whatever direction we were traveling in.

Obviously the clicking noise is a relay.
