Is it possible to cause damage to a vehicle (2003?? Chevy Trailblazer) with an on-the-fly 2WD to 4AWD system by switching to 4AWD when the vehicle is in park or otherwise not driving forward? This was done by someone and now the vehicle is making a loud noise.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Elantra with 138,000 miles. I never had any slipping or jerking or reverse issues in the past. I got into the car put it in reverse just fine then put it in drive and nothing happened, I put it in park and the car kept rolling like in neutral and started making a loud grinding noise. When I put the transmission in any other gear the noise stops but will not move and acts as if in neutral.

When I hit the brakes it got worse but got better as I slowed to 30 mph. It doesn't happen all the time and not right away, only after a while of driving and the dealership says without codes they can do nothing...

View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 v-6 and when I first start my car, its makes a real high pitch whining sound that will last for about 10 sec. before it starts to whine down.Then after that, its ok. It will not make any noise after that when I start it unless it sits for any length of time (6 to 8 hrs.) What might be the problem and If Its something I could fix myself?

View 7 RepliesI Have a 2002 Trailblazer and when i turn on the rear A/C there is a loud clicking sound coming from the back of the truck. It is on the passenger side up by the interior light in the third row. If i turn off the Rear A/C or turn the knob and have both the overhead and the feet blow out it does not click.
View 3 RepliesI had an oil change done last week for my 03 trailblazer, and was getting valve tapping on startup after sitting 8 hours in the cold, it goes away after a few minutes. I stopped by today, and they looked through the maintenance records and noticed a new i.e., supersedes the old filter filter model had been used, they are going to pick up the old model filter and swap it out. I can get the part numbers tomorrow, but in 154 k I have never had such a noise. And it started day 1 after the oil change. 5w 30 as specs and level was full.

View 2 RepliesWhen turning in both directions, front end makes a CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP sound. Frequency increases when speed increases.Brakes are NOT engaged when this happens. Goes away when coming out of turn.

I had an interesting ride home tonight. I accidentally lowered my front passenger window a little bit and when I tried to raise it I just got a clicking noise. So I drove along hitting the button, hoping the window would close, but it wouldn't. Then, the dash lights and head lights started pulsating/flickering. The engine power wasn't affected and the battery gauge wasn't moving. My vehicle is a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with 173,0000 miles on it. Replaced the battery a few years back and have had no other electrical problems.
View 19 RepliesMy Chevy Venture 2003 approx 120 thousand miles is idling high at times. It will drive fast. I can feel it speeding up even when I am not pushing on the gas. When I put the car in reverse it flys backward (I have to keep my foot on the break to back up at a safe speed) and then when I put the car in park the engine is VERY loud. Again, this does not happen all the time. Usually when I drive it over ten miles. I thought it might have something to do with the AC, but I played around with that (driving with and without the AC) and that did not factor in it.
I took it to my own personal mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I then took it to a dealership and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with after doing their hundred dollars worth of diagnostics and said they needed it to actually be doing it..what they called a hard fail...for them to know what was going on. . They drove the car for quite some time and nothing happened. I drove it all this pass weekend and nothing happened. It might go a week or so without doing it. Thenn it does it. Usually I can turn the car off and restart it and it will be back to normal. The check engine light is NOT on. Any clue as to what might be going on?
My vehicle is making a noise like a flat tire but no flat tire it is the loudest when my foot is off the gas and I am coasting I have had the bearing checked that is not the problem of course the mechanic couldn't hear it when he took it out but as soon as I left it started doing it they also told me the motor mounts are a bit loose but they didn't give me much information on it they kinda rushed me out my car is also vibrating quite a bit ....
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 RAV4 Sport and it is making a noise..... kinda like a rubbing noise, almost a squeaking noise. It happens when I first start up my car and more when the weather is colder. After a few minutes of driving it stops. It also seems to be louder when I am idling, and quiets down once I begin driving again. It seems to be coming from the right front part (the right side if you are sitting IN the car, the left side if you are standing in front of the car and looking at it) of the engine. I can see a belt down in that area...... is that probably it? I have not ever had any other issues with my car and I have had it since it was new.
View 3 RepliesThe Trailblazer quit running like it ran out of gas. I had it towed and put a new fuel pump in it. When I try starting it, it acts like it isnt firing. It is also clicking over what looks like a carburetor next to the breather. It clicks really fast and keeps on till I turn the key off. I can see what I think is the coil packs and it is to the right of this. I have replaced the battery as well. The engine will turn over but wont fire.

View 1 RepliesFound the problem with the growing sound in the front end on a 07 trailblazer had just replaced both tie rods, cv shafts, inner transfer case bearings and seals and tires still getting the growling sound thinking it could be wheel bearings but there $100 a piece.
View 12 RepliesMy wife bought a new 2010 Prius Hybrid. It has consistently achieved 51+ miles per gallon. She bought it in June-2010 and at the 7000 mile mark (October?) called me concerned about a noise it was making under the hood. She described it as akin to the noise a playing card made when as a child you fastened it to the spokes of a bicycle. Chattering? It lasted 15-30 seconds and went away, before engaging in reverse or forward. A trip to the dealership was fruitless, an "intermittent episode" the diagnosis.
Now, nothing since until today. Same noise again, 12,000 mile mark, goes away in same timeframe, in park. Only today, through the course of several errands, her dash MPG indicator reads 39 MPG. She is waiting as we speak in the dealer lobby as they plug into the computer hunting for fault codes, etc. Having issues, especially an indicated dropoff in MPG seemingly in conjunction with such a noise?
Started up the Touareg last night to come home from work and immediately heard a new noise. It is loud and clearly audible from inside the vehicle. I was able to isolate it to something inside the front driver's side fender, something above the wheel well. Sounds like a cross between a blender and a leaf blower (a device that I could certainly use at this time of the year.) Note - the noise goes away when turn off the climate control system (by lowering the fan speed all the way.)
View 9 RepliesI have a noise that has been driving me crazy for a week now. After some investigation I have discounted a few things. To sum up the noise, it seems to be coming from under the vehicle, maybe the passenger rear. It sounds kinda like a jack hammer and it is loud. People on the street can hear it well! There is no consistency in it. I do not here it standing still and it only appears when I am driving. The speed does not matter.
While driving, it will come and go, it will last from 5 seconds to up to 30 seconds. While driving along, it starts, then stops abruptly without dying down. The speed of the "knocking" will follow the speed of the vehicle. If Im going slow (20 mph) it will knock at a slower pace, thus going 65, it is 2 a second. There is nothing loose, I have ruled that out.
Although it does sound like something loose and hitting. I can feel it slightly on the floorboard under the pedals and passenger side. I have to believe it is the rear u-joint? but that was replaced 2 years ago, and I have never heard of a u-joint making this noise.
