Vauxhall - Corsa :: Acceleration Very Slow / Car Struggles To Reach 70 Mph And Can't Go Over 30 Uphill

Nov 10, 2014

My car struggles to reach 70mph, to the point where uphill on a motorway i come to like 30mph. also it has terrible acceleration where i struggle to get out onto roundabouts and sometimes when I start the car it doesn't start first time and the second time it takes like 5-8 seconds to turn over. it only has 65000 and its a 3 cylinder 1.0L vauxhall corsa. I am going to replace the spark plugs tomorrow as I was thinking that's what it would be but I am not sure.

Vauxhall - Corsa :: EML Came On - Seems To Have No Power

Engine management light suddenly came on one morning the car seemed ok but wasn't liking uphills to the point i would start the bottom of the hill at 50mph in 4th gear and by the top of the hill. I am in 2nd going 25mph or less depending of the hill (this is with my right foot going thru the floor). after making it home called up my mechanic he came out with his diagnostic kit and told my its a misfire and id need to replace the spark plugs and coilpack after this it still didn't seem right so he replaced the air intake sensor.

It made a small difference to the sound of the car but driving it again it still wasn't going up hills very well. then the next thing i no it wont even start after a few attempts I wasn't even getting any lights nor was the engine even attempting to turn over so i went inside called my man and he said it was the battery so today i got a new battery and it works she starts but still struggles to go uphill. I am now being told that it could be a problem with the starter motor and maybe that the new air intake sensor needs time to program with the ecu but I am not sure...

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: 2005 GT Struggles With Acceleration?

Since I bought my car and driven it I noticed the acceleration noise and feel more and more. At slow speeds and rpms the engine sounds like its struggling to accelerate. It isn't smooth like a constant climb. Its a winding up acceleration. From a stop you can feel it shake the car up to 3000 rpms then it goes away. It idles somewhat rough and you can feel it throughout the cabin and the exhaust sounds putter in at idles instead of a steady drone. I suspect a fuel filter as of I have changed my oil, spark plugs, and air filter. Could it be a timing belt or something like that? It also has a very very small leak around the valve cover gasket bolts.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2007 Driving Slow When Going Uphill

The issue that I'm having is that when going up hills, the car like automatically starts slowing down basically losing power seems like. I have to put it in low gear and even so it sounds like its straining to get up the hill. No more than 20mph and then begins to drop lower. When going up drive way I have to make a complete stop and then proceed else it will stall. Also, when at stand still in traffic car shuts off. Sometimes I can feel it vibrate before it shuts off other times it just shuts off. took to western auto and they don't know whats wrong with any of the issues. They just said there is nothing wrong with my idle and to put a gas cleaner in when i full the tank up, that didn't work.

Prius (2004-09) :: Red Triangle / Slow When Driving On Uphill

I've bought a second handed European Prius 2en Gen from year 2006, the car is wonderful and I simply love it ! I wouldn't change it for anything, but yet I have some problems with it.

When I start the car I get the Red Triangle on the front panel, and exclamation symbol, a VSC symbol and an engine (?) symbol on. On the Display I always have a black bar on the top with a car and an exclamation point on it. Both can be seen int the pictures below....

At this point the car runs normally, the only things I notice are :

1 - When I stop the car (without shutting him down) I notice that the consumption of fuel is at 99.9/L because it is charging the battery, which is already full.
2 - The back-right ventilation fan of the car (on the passenger seat) is ON even when the Air Conditioner is OFF.

After a few miles (I don't know exactly when it happens, sometimes it happens when stopped, sometimes when on the road), the car beeps and then it shows a, on the same black bar on the display, a message saying "Problem", after a few seconds I get a Battery symbol on the right of the car with an exclamation point symbol.

At this point the car starts having the following problems :

1 - The motor begins to speed like if I was at full speed on the highway.
2 - I simply can't do an uphill, the car won't pass the 20Km/h speed, if I gain balance before arriving at the uphill, it will start losing speed until reaching the 18-20Km/h.

At this point I really don't know how to solve this. I only know that, the Toyota Representative here where I live (in Portugal), ask me for 2,975Euros (almost 3,263USD) saying that it is a problem in the Hybrid System. But yet it seems strange because from what I know, if the Hybrid System was compromised, the car wouldn't start at all.

Does changing the 12V Battery on the back would solve this (even knowing that the Display shows a fully charged battery ?) ?

Golf/GTI VII :: MK7 - Unsettling Noise Under Acceleration When Going Slightly Uphill

I have a mk7 with 12k miles on it (edit: Manual). I noticed this noise periodically and it is hard to reproduce. I haven't been to the dealer yet because we all know how that intermittent noise thing goes with them.

Symptoms: Accelerating (usually 2nd or 3rd) low rpms. If I am going slightly up hill it will make a sound like a metal ball bearing inside of an Altoids can. "Tack Tack Tack.' It doesn't happen all the time and sometimes the volume varies. I'd say it has happened to me 10 times in the last 2 months. It appears to be boost related as it is building.

Chevrolet - Cavalier :: 2004 - Staggers On Acceleration Particularly When Going Uphill

I have a 2004 Chev Cavalier with a 2.2. Ecotec OHC. Lately the car has started to stagger on acceleration. Particularly when going up hill. The weird thing is, it only does it after it's been running for 10 or 15 minutes. Up until that time it runs smoothly. But when it happens it feels like the engine bucks. Or hiccups. If I stomp on the gas the car will either stall or kick in and overcome this. When I'm driving down the road at a steady speed, or when I'm sitting still the engine will buck in the same fashion. Not steadily--intermittently. Once or twice every fifteen seconds. But it's getting progressively worse.

Now if I launch out of an intersection the car might even stall. When this happens I just turn the key and she fires right up again as if nothing happened. No "Check Engine Light" or trouble codes showing up in my Scangauge. I replaced the fuel filter just as a preliminary measure but that didn't solve the problem. I had the fuel pump replaced a few months ago as well but that ws before this problem occurred. No other parts or pieces replaced. Fuel pressure regulator? Spark plugs? Injectors?

Lexus IS 2014+ :: Noise Towards Rear End On Acceleration Seems Worse When Going Uphill

For the last couple of weeks I've been hearing a weird noise towards the rear end of my car when I accelerate, seems like it's worse when I'm going uphill, sounds like a box of shoes moving freely in the trunk of the car. At first I thought it was something in my the trunk but I have nothing loose, the spare wheel and all attachment are pretty well secure. The only thing that I can think of is that the dealership installed the F Sport exhaust to it, but not sure if that should be making that type of sound. Sound is pretty low but it still manages to upset me, specially since my car has less than 3k miles on it.

Acceleration :: Car Sort Of Jumps Back And Fourth While Driving Uphill

Not sure if this is called "sputtering" or something else. But essentially today all of the sudden my car would sort of jump ahead, as if I when revving it back and fourth on the pedal aggressively. Not sure what could have caused this. Today was an essentially cold day so that may have something to do with it. Also my car overheats so I have to put anti-freeze in it most days. For the last few days I've been just using plain water, could this be the culprit? Why is my car jerking around like this?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - White Smoke Under Acceleration / Going Uphill

Having issue with a 2003 jetta 1.8t. I bought it used and it seemed to run great. Sometimes going up hills i get white smoke for like a minute (probably in too low of a gear when it happened).

Happens on the highway sometimes too if i punch it to pass somebody (like already going 60, punch it to 80). I've read other posts here to get some ideas (turbo going bad, etc.) It seems to coincide with a lack of power or stumbling in the gear I'm in...

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Acceleration Is Also Getting A Bit Sluggish Especially Going Uphill

What is a "normal" number people see on their load factor? Mine was around 25-30 a few weeks ago but I noticed it is increasing to around 30-40 once I'm in gear, in park it's fine. My acceleration is also getting a bit sluggish too especially going up hills and my throttle isn't responding all the way, my turbo boost is normal though and I don't think there is any VGT stiction. I'm thinking either a fuel filter or a MAF sensor to start with. Fuel filters have been in exactly 10 months. Can a dirty fuel filter, air filter, or MAF sensor affect engine load at idle and how fast it accelerates? I feel like I'm pulling a trailer and with it being more sluggish, my transmission is shifting harder as well.

Blazer - S-10 :: Engine Started Clacking And Lost Acceleration Power Going Uphill

Going up a hill, my engine started clacking and I lost acceleration power. (yes, I was in overdrive - which I now know I shouldn't have been). I immediately pulled off the road and into a gas station. Upon stopping, my oil pressure gague dropped to zero and my engine temp maxxed out. The temp was fine until I stopped. I let the engine cool off for an hour.

After listening to it for a few seconds, I was told that I had a problem they couldn't fix. We put a compression fix oil additive in it to see if that would work. It did raise the oil pressure when cold and when running with the RPMs up, but after running for a few minutes, the pressure would drop to zero on idle. At that point, they suggested that I shouldn't drive it anymore. I then rented a box truck and an auto trailer and trailed my truck the rest of the way.

I'm now in Fort Collins, Colorado and have a dilemma. I had a local mechanic look at the truck and he also agrees that I have a failed/failing rod bearing. (back of the engine near the firewall)

The question is to repair or abandon the vehicle. I'm not a mechanic and can't do the repair myself. It has 158K miles and has been meticulously maintained. Unless I also damaged something else, the rest of the truck is in good shape. Is rebuilding the engine possible or even worth it?

2005 Ford F150 lariat 5.4

Had the engine light flash, slow down and the RPM go up a tiny bit then back down and the light goes off

Now I'm back to miss fire different location, and a rough idle. I've swapped coil packs around and the miss fire stayed on cylinder 4.

Spark plug screwed or injector or ?????

Opel - Corsa :: 2005 - Change The Timing Belt At 6K Miles?

I purchased a 2005 Opel Corsa C 1.8l with around 70k miles. The car is in a fantastic shape, I've had it for around 6 months, having driven around 6k miles. The first maintenance I did was changing all oils and filters, and changing the accesory belt (the one that powers the alternator, that one is not dented). I was told back then at the workshop that the timing belt (not sure if that is the correct name for the belt with dents that syncs valves, etc.) was in a good shape. I don't know if the previous owner/s ever changed it. I understand that the damage done when that belt breaks could get pretty serious, with bent valves, mainly. The question is, should I change the belt now? How long do those last?

Prius (Gen 2) :: Slow Acceleration When Speeding Up To Get On The Highway

I'm a new 2007 Prius owner, and I know that the Prius is no sports car, but this acceleration is very slow. When I'm speeding up to get on the highway, it really sounds like the gasoline engine is working hard to get up to that speed. I've had cars in the past where the emergency brake gets stuck, can that be a probable cause, or is this type of slow, strenuous acceleration normal for the little Prius?

Passat (B7) :: 2012 - Acceleration A Bit Slow On Takeoff

I recently picked up a 2012 Passat. I love it. Comfortable ride compared to my Volvo, looks amazing from the outside and, well, its a VW - always loved them.

So, my only question is about the acceleration. It tends to be a bit slow on takeoff. Its hard to explain, really, but it creeps a bit and then I find that I need to push relatively hard to get the RPMs up to get the car to accelerate. Ive never had this type of issue in a car before so I thought I would ask to see if this is normal. At first I thought it was maybe a gas saving feature. When I use Sport Mode or Sports Shift it accelerates fine with no issue.
