1993 chevy silverardo ... There is a knocking noise coming from passenger side dash i turn the key on it starts tell maybe i get down the road, when i turn the truck off it knock for like 25 secs. I just got the truck didn't find out until I took it home.
View 8 RepliesThere is a knocking sound coming from the passenger side dash board in my 2010 Taurus. I found a youtube video that indicated in was a recirculation door motor. I replaced that but the knocking is still there.
View 8 RepliesI have a 1993 Chevy C1500, and about 3 weeks ago I started noticing that whenever it gets to temp I start hearing a knocking coming from the valves, and I lose almost all oil pressure. I also lose a lot of power. What could be causing this? Am I looking at a full on engine rebuild?
View 3 RepliesI drive a 2013 4 door gti. Car has 4k miles. Just last weekend myself and my buddies threw my coils in. FK Silverline X plus'. I am not sure on the measurement from fender to ground but I am a finger gap in the front, and fingertips in the rear. After throwing my coils in on saturday, I had an alignment and the rear camber adjusted. Just today, sunday, while driving home I heard a weird clunking/knocking noise. Previously I drove a mk4 and I know the sound of sway bar on axle and this is not the sound. Its coming from the passenger side front.. and I can sort of feel it through my clutch and brake. After pulling the car over I checked everything I could. wheels are all tight, struts seem fine. The noise occurs continuously even on smooth roads. The knocking/popping is pretty loud and can be heard in cabin. My buddy had mentioned the guys the aligned my car might have forgot to tighten something so I am heading back to the shop first thing in the morning.
View 3 RepliesI installed my sway on saturday and it went smoothly. The bushings were greased up, bolts were torqued to spec, nothing was rubbing or touching in anyway. Now I am getting a knocked noise coming from the rear passenger side. after driving it for a day or so i check under the car to make sure nothing loosened up and everything was just how it was when i installed it. What the issue could be, but the noise is really annoying.
View 4 RepliesHaving issue with his truck. He bought it 3 months ago and has no history. 166k. You now know as much as I do about the truck! He knows little about automobiles so fact finding has been difficult. I have done all my own work on countless US and foreign automobiles over the last 30 years and never take my vehicles anywhere. I will try to post as much detailed info as I can. I have read tons of posts now on various forums so I am up to speed on VCT and phasers.
This one seems similar, but not exactly the same symptoms which is why I am here. I have already pulled the VCTs and found the passenger side missing the top screen. I swapped them from side to side which made no difference. I checked ohms and they were at 15 which is normal from what I read. They were very clean and moved easily when I took them out so they were not gunked up so I don't think that's the problem. It idles very smoothly and isn't rough at all.
I have posted a video of the knocking/dieseling noise (link below) coming from the passenger side. The knocking starts as soon as the truck is started hot or cold (outside temps right now 70F-90F Houston). I can make the knock disappear by gently depressing the gas pedal going from idle of about 650/700 to maybe 750/800 and it will go away completely as long as I keep it gently depressed. As soon as I lift up it returns.
If I rev it up to 2000-3000 rpm it does not knock, however, as soon as I lift off quickly, it seems to knock at a high speed, hangs for a second and then knocks all the way back to idle. However, if I rev up and then lift off very slowly, it will not knock. I have tried to locate the exact location of the knock, but doesn't exactly seem right at the phaser, but actually back around the 2nd and 3rd spark plug area, but I can't tell exactly. I've had a couple people tell me the same when I asked them to tell me where its coming from. The noise is bouncing around in there so difficult to pinpoint exact area.

I have an 2005 VW Touareg. I purchased it 1 month ago with 8919 miles on it. I love the thing! However I have a rattle coming from the part that is below the passenger dash. The good thing is it only rattles when i hit a big bump, however when u pay 30k + this is the last thing you want to hear. See Pic. How to remove this black panel so i may fix it? Dealer was no luck the typical "I didn't hear any rattles" ....
View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 Chevy cavalier with 133,000 miles. For the last week I have been hearing a ticking noise - seems to be coming from inside the dash board on the passengers side (glove compartment). The ticking noise begins when the engine starts up and stops when the engine stops, so the noise is continuous while the engine is running. The car runs well, no loss in power, nothing out of the ordinary, with the exception of the noise. I opened the hood and listen - the sound seems to come from inside the firewall.
View 5 RepliesTruck-2005 F-150 XLT 5.4L ... Problem - Currently when my truck reaches a speed of 45mph+ there is a methodical knocking sound that comes from the passenger side dash. This sound is on the interior and comes from the far right corner of the dashboard.(almost as if someone is tapping with there finger every other second). There is no correlation with anything else being turned on or off that affects this sound.(i.e. air) It simply happens once I reach a certain speed and is not an outside noise. When I slow back down under 45 mph the knocking subsides.
View 7 RepliesCar: 1993 Chevy C 1500 (2WD) manual transmission Background: The car sat unused in a garage for 2 weeks (no problems before this) the first drive after its break, the pickup almost felt like it was slipping and power was not getting to the wheels. The vibrating began the next day. The vibrating is very obvious and unpleasant under acceleration at approximately 2000 RPMs in any gear. Grease was injected via grease zerk into the center carrier bearing area and the vibrating was marginally better. Today the back end of the truck was lifted up and put into gear and brought up to 30 MPH. The pickup was then lowered and a test drive revealed that the vibrating was considerably diminished.
An inspection of the drive shaft reveals:no vibrating in neutral the U-joints are not loose or leaking; the drive shaft has 2 small dents which are countered on the opposite side by weights;the drive shaft will move up and down ~1 inch or less if pushed in bench press fashion near the carrier bearing;the drive shaft does not move in the direction of the length of the vehicle;the drive shaft will rotate freely 1/16th to 1/8th of a turn before it is stopped by the back of the transmission or the rear differential; no mud clods in wheel wells;new tires properly inflated.
I drive a 1993 Chevrolet 1500 v6, 2wd. I have changed every part I can think of related to the fuel system. When I try to accelerate, the engine hesitates, it gets louder, and my truck will jerk. Sometimes, however, it is responsive. Often times, it will be responsive for a few minutes and start to decelerate.
View 2 RepliesI have a 1995 4X4 Chevy Silverado. Well tonight the lower radiator hose came off, and all the coolant drained out while my wife was driving it around town. She noticed that the temp gauge spiked, and tried to get home. The truck stalled, was able to restart it for a moment, stalled again and now when we try to start it up there is a low spinning noise coming from the area around the starter. I think it might be the starter trying to engage the flywheel. My question is whether or not this could because the motor has seized, or is there another symptom that could potentially make this noise.

View 3 RepliesI've just installed new shocks on my 1997 Suburban K1500 4WD. Now there's a knock that appears to come from the driver's side. The knock seems to be as the wheels descend while crossing rolling bumps rather than abrupt jolts; for example; pot holes or running over reflectors embedded in the road don't cause the knocking.
Here's what I've checked: balljoints, inner and outer tie rods, idler arms are OK; brake calipers secure; 4WD is fine; steering shaft is OK (don't feel the knock in steering wheel); can't find anything loose.
When you turn the interior ac temperature from cool to warm there is a loud knocking noise coming from under the dash. I am new to working on explorers but it seem like its coming from the black box nearest the firewall above the transmission tunnel. When you turn it to cold the noise almost completely goes away. The noise gets even louder when you mess with the selector for "max ac" "head and feet" "feet" etc.
View 2 RepliesJust picked up my BMP R32 last week. The car is MINT, only 25k on her, seriously probably one of the cleanest, stock mkiv r32's left. I got every single service record since brand new, all done by a Volkswagen dealer.
Only problem is, a knocking noise has just started to develop, coming from the front passenger area somewhere. It is only noticeable when I brake or let off the gas after accelerating, but definitely more noticeable when braking. At first I thought it was something rolling around in the door, but now it seems clearly suspension related, or a loose bolt or something?

We have an 07 Prius with around 150,000 miles on it.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a slight knocking noise coming from the passenger front wheel area mainly when I was turning toward the right.
Question.......So when turning to the right, it first seemed to me that the right side would experience a heavier load. However, after further thought and applying some physics the inertia of the car would actually be putting a heavier load on the left side during a right turn. Which is correct?
Just trying to troubleshoot the noise/problem.
#1 when I apply the brakes, the noise doesn't change. I don't think it's brake related.
#2 the noise speeds up with speed, meaning that it's rotational.
#3 The noise does get louder when I am turning right but has know progressed into a constant noise going straight. During a left turn it subsided.
#4 I did take my floor jake and jaked the pass. front wheel up but didn't see anything broken or damaged. I couldn't rotate the tire though.
#5 I also had the tires rotated today and the noise got worse.
The last couple days my truck (1997 f150 4.6l) has been having starting issues. At first it would just turn over and not start then the battery would die. So i bought a new battery and yesterday now its starts sometimes but when trying to start it while its ttuning over it stops then starts turning and starts up. Then i drive wherever I am going when i get back in to start there's nothing.
Its not turning over at all but when i turn the key there is a loud single knocking noise coming from behind the dash near the passenger floor vent. Actually there ate two noise from the same area, one when i initially trun the key and another when i release the key. But after just sitting there doing this it will finally turn over and start. What this is, there are no codes being thrown besides my dreaded P0401 which i cant seem to get rid of either. Ive changed every part that has to do with the egr system and cleaned the throttle body replaced vacuum lines and still the code.
I own 2016 Camry special edition, and while driving i hear something knocking sound like ping pong ball sound coming from passenger side front tire, feels like shock is not working properly, in warm weather (over 60F)it drives better no sound or anything, what can it be? Is it because of 18" tires?
View 2 RepliesMy 91 chevy 2500 has a fairly loud tapping sound under the passenger side dash, I used a mechanic's steth-a-scope & think i narrowed it down to left of the blower motor on the inside of the firewall. The clicking/tapping occurs every time the ignition key is turned on for about 10 clicks turn the key off & it repeats the 10 clicks again. Its consistent & very annoying.

I assume I have to replace the entire shock? I've had them on for about 1.5 years so I'm not too thrilled about the life of the shocks. I'm not sure what the normal life expectancy of coilovers are since my last car had air ride which actually was fine for 6+years.. But I was hoping it'd be more..
