My dad's car, a 2002 Chevy Caviler, started leaking oil on the top of the engine just the other day and we're not sure what's wrong with it.

Venture :: 2002 Chevy - New Fuel Filter Leaking Gas
Yesterday our 2002 Chevy Venture minivan died in the store's parking lot. It would not stay running when we started it and let off the gas. As long as we were pushing the gas pedal down, the van would run. As soon as you let off the gas, it died.
So my husband walked to the auto store and bought a new fuel filter. He then tried to replace it in the store parking lot. As soon as he took off the 'male hose' from the fuel filter, a lot of gasoline sprayed him in his face and of course he came out from under the van screaming and in pain. (Don't worry with kids we had over 8 bottles of water in the van and I flushed his face and eyes for over 10 min and he is fine now).
Anyway, in the process of flailing under the van when the gas hit his face, he jumbled up these little black and rainbow colored rings and lost a long rusty screw/bolt that screws the main round body of the fuel filter to the underneath of the car and holds it in place.
We searched and could not find the bolt. My husband jumbled up the small rubber rings and did not know what was from the old or new filter. He tried placing them on the new fuel filter but as soon as he turned on the car, not even the engine just turned the key to where you can play the radio... all this gas sprayed out from the new fuel filter. After many tries of re-arranging the little o rings he gave up and called a tow truck.
Today he called auto zone and they looked at a new fuel filter in it's box (same one my husband bought) and told my husband that there was only one small black o ring on the fuel filter. So he put one ring on his new fuel filter (on the male hose I think) but still the filter sprays gas as soon as he turns the key. He then went and bought new 'hose clips' and tried those. The fuel filter still sprayed gas.
So, what I am now trying to find out is what could possibly be causing the fuel filter to spray the gas (leak). My husband (in his words) is a welder, not a modern car mechanic and is getting really stressed over this.
1. Does he need new or different sized little rubber rings?
2. Could the missing bolt that screws the large body of the filter to the car be causing this gas leak?
3. I read he should turn off the gas some where and then replace the filter, could this cause a gad leak issue because he did not do this before replacing the fuel filter?
Chevrolet :: 1994 - Chevy S10 Leaking Oil
I have a 1994 Chevy S10 truck. I been having some problems with it.I was having transmission issues with it (I posted on that one before) , but now it has started leaking oil and I would like to know why. The color of the oil in the oil leak is dark brown and oil gauge is giving me odd readings. For example, when I start the truck the oil gauge says it is half full (40), but it warms up and I am in stop and go traffic it drops to 20. But, If I step on the gas the reading goes back to 40 again for a while and then drops back down again. I thinking about just getting a different truck because this one is becoming a pain to fix, but I would still like to know what could be wrong with it.

The truck we have is a 1999 Chevy Suburban 1500, 2-Wheel Drive with a 350 vortec engine. We replaced the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets with no leaks for about a week and several hundred miles then it started leaking oil and then antifreeze after that.

My 1995 chevy camaro has been overheating. at first i thought it was the thermostat sticking because there was no spewing or smoking so i changed the thermostat and my car was still over heating. I finally found out that the water pump was leaking fluids. so I changed out the water pump and filled it full of coolant. i turned on my car and within 10 minutes the gauge went up to 260 degrees and went down a little bit but stayed around 260, there was no spewing or leaking or smoking again. I was thinking that maybe now it could be the sensor but im not sure.

I picked up this 2004 Chevy Venture for my daughter and it has a power steering fluid leak coming out of the power steering cooler line that runs along the frame in front. I know that the procedure to replace this line calls for disconnecting the intermediate shaft of the steering and lowering the subframe to gain access to the line connections on the rack. My question is, is it possible to replace that line without lowering the subframe? I ordered the new line and it's on its way. I wanna do the job right.

My recently acquire 2002 has intermittent leaking/hissing periods when the engine is engaged. I have the sound of air leaking or being moved. I hear the individual stokes of the engine, I don't feel any missing in power, No light comes on. After around 60 to 90 seconds of driving, quicker if I press the accelerator the sound has gone away. I wonder what I can do to check this out, I have not been able to pinpoint the area it comes from other than the engine area.

The cruise control on my 2002 Chevy 1/2 ton Silverado doesn't work. Went to boneyard and bought a module but it didn't fix my issue. Borrowed a multimeter and tested the cruise control module plugin. The only pin that came up with a incorrect reading was the first brake test. It's suppose to have 12 volts with brake pedal up but showed about 30, so I changed the brake light switch. Still no cruise control.
Since I have a high reading on the brake pin, do you think I have a wire issue there or would my problem be in the multi switch wires by the steering wheel?

I have checked the engine mounts and transmission mount, and they look good. I have a 2002 chevy suburban 4wd with 156000 miles.. I had tires replaced last week due to them being chopped. They caused a low humming noise between 65-70mph. That was coming from the front.Below or above this speed the sound was not noticeable. I had new Coper AT-3 tires replace all around and balanced 5 days ago. The noise has become worse and starts at 61 mph and gets louder up to 70 an with a slight vibration . I have not gone above that speed to se if the noise goes away as I feel a bit uncomfortable going any faster with this issue . The tires were balanced so was wondering if I have bad tires or if the new tires being all terrain are causing more strain on what could be a bearing. The wheel bearings are fine and the rear bearings and pinion bearing were replaced two months ago . I know all terrains will make noise but not to this extent .

I have a 2002 Chevy Impala with power driver's seat. The seat has three motors which move the seat forward/back, front of the seat up/down, rear of the seat up/down.
The seat will no longer go up/down in the rear of the seat. More importantly, it will no longer go forward or back. The left side jack screw spins and wants to move the seat forward or back but eventually stops when it can no longer go any further because the right side jack screw will not turn at all.
All of the motors are working properly and turning the flexible drive shafts. The drive shafts do not appear to be stripped at the ends. After removing the drive shaft covers and reinstalling the drive shaft, I can see that they are turning when the motors are activated.
I then removed the drive shafts and inserted a square bit into the end where the drive shaft gets inserted into the gearing attached to the jack screw. The bit just spins and spins and doesn’t turn the jack screw.
I cannot removed the seat because it is in a position where the rear bolts are covered by the seat. I have tried to remove the four bolts under the seat that attach the seat to the frame. I am unable to break these bolts free (they appear to be welded or loc-tited down).
Clutches - Airconditioning :: 2002 Chevy Cavalier AC Clutch Not Engaging
My AC pulleys bearing froze up and broke the belt. I replaced the pulley and clutch, checked fuses and relays, all good. The clutch still wouldn't engage.I bought some AC 134A and put half a can and its still not engaging. How do I get that clutch to engage?

Chevy - Blazer :: 2002 - Driving On Steep Island Roads
I recently moved to a place in the Caribbean that has very steep paved & unpaved roads, lots of potholes. I have a 2002 Chevy blazer, has 4wd, hi & low (not automatic 4wd). What is the best way to drive these roads? Someone told me its ok to leave the truck in 4wd when on "the country" roads even though they are paved but the Chevy manual says not to do this. I have been putting it in second to go down the hills. Still figuring out up hill. I'm not used to driving this terrain and want to learn it right.

We have a 2002 Malibu with 216,000 miles. Car in excellent condition and always garage kept. We have used the same mechanic for many years until this year when he closed his shop. We do plan to replace the car next year, but it's just not necessary to do so just yet.
A couple of month ago someone rear ended me and the body shop replaced the trunk weather stripping, rear bumper, light assemblies, repainted the trunk/bumper/rear side panels.
Several weeks ago, while hubby was pulling the car out of the garage I noticed every time the brake is pressed the backup lights come on too. I then checked turn signals, all other lights, etc. Everything else appears normal except this oddity.
I took it back to the body shop and told them what was happening and said it had to be something done during the repair work. He checked and said everything was hooked up correctly and I needed to take it to a mechanic because it wasn't anything they did.
I have researched and researched and found several other people with this problem. One answer was that the new light assembly was after market and the "pins" were not compatible with the original wiring harness. Another was that the wiring harness coming from the trunk was somehow damaged.
Chevy Trailblazer :: 2002 - Acceleration Will Pause And RPMs Bounce A Bit At Higher Speed
On highway, at higher speeds (50-70), I notice that the vehicle's acceleration will pause and the rpms will bounce a bit. Best description I can give is that it feels as if someone were constantly pinching and releasing the gas line. Short revvv...revvv...revvv. The vehicle doesn't lose power. I get where I am going. And it only occurs up at these higher speeds.

A few minutes into a summer's evening drive, the engine shuts off and will not start. We've determined that there is fuel to the fuel injectors and they are clicking. There is a strong spark coming from the distributor. When there is fire, from cranking the motor, it results in a backfire in the intake manifold. As for the OBD, it's a 16 pin connector that when I shorted pins 5 and 6 (top-right pins) with a paper clip, gave all code 12s (not sure if it's OBDI or II)....

I have a stumbling engine when my chevy shifts into over drive. I have new plugs wires dist rotor coil ign module fuel filter air filter. Checked timing with auto advance unplugged and it is not @ TDC but about 4 deg advanced. It is also not consistent in its stumble.

I have a chevy cobalt and recently just upgraded the pistons and rods. I've driven it about 1k miles since the replacement and it just started making a ticking noise. It sounds like its up in the head. I've changed my timing chain tensioner bolt, also replaced the rod bearings. Everything lines up at TDC but around 2-3k rpm it starts ticking. I'm also getting a P0300 code. When I pop the hood I hear a leak somewhere but can't find it. I've also tried using carb cleaner at the injectors to see if a gas leak was accruing, but nothing changed in the rpms.

Recently the 'check engine' light went on in my 2005 Chevy Cavalier. since I couldn't afford the typical diagnosis charge, I went somewhere where they code it at no cost. They said it was the gas cap, so I went to a dealer & bought one. (They also turned the light off for me.) Problem is now the light is back on. While I was at the dealer, the mechanic said it will have to be properly checked to pass inspection; apparently it has something to do w/ emissions. Is that true?
