I hear a strange UFO like, bird like chirping noise coming from the rear of the car. The chirps increase and decrease in frequency but with no regularity and do not match engine rpm or vehicle speed. It will do it at idle or highway speed but gradually disappears. It comes and it goes when it wants to.
View 3 RepliesI went out to our driveway (just a couple of hours ago) where my Ex was parked and I heard some bird chirping coming from under the truck. I looked at the Ex and I saw these 4 little birds right under the rear axle flapping around on the driveway. I immediately picked them up and ran inside the house and handed them over to my wife.
I went back outside and looked the underside of the Ex to see where the birds came from. Here's where they nested just above the rear axle.
Here they are after getting feed by my wife with some pureed meat (per google) since we really did not know what to feed them. They ate like crazy even had some bowel movement after 10 -15 minutes. We tried calling the local Animal Control but they are close on Sundays. We will try again tomorrow and for the mean time we'll try to keep these guys warm, fed and comfy. Per research they need to eat every 15 -30 minutes.
That's their actual nest I pulled out from the truck. I wonder how long have these birds been living inside the Ex? You see the Ex gets driven only on weekends sometimes longer.
I drive a used 2012 Nissan Sentra that I purchased six months ago. Today is the first time I've ever had problems with it. I was driving down the road this afternoon and it started making a noise that's very hard to describe. It sounds like it's coming from the dash and is comparable to birds chirping or a computer-like/electronic noise. It kind of sounds like R2D2 hijacked my car! It also started making a scraping like sound from the back wheel. I thought I was dragging something under my car, but there was nothing there when I checked. When I started it again later, there was a squeak when I backed up that was either underneath or the rear right wheel side. The sounds only occur when the car is moving.
View 3 RepliesFor close to 6 months I drove around with a squeak that sounded like a bird chirping coming from my dashboard windshield area. I tried listening everywhere while driving and could never pinpoint the squeak that was driving me crazy. For whatever reason, I adjusted the rubber bumper stops for the hood and the chirp went away. I had to post this just in case there were others with the annoying squeak.
View 2 RepliesI took it in to repair shop and they checked all belts and said its all good but I still hear noise. Sure hope it's not the transmission as it only has 44K miles. Car is Sentra 1.8 - 2006.
View 2 RepliesThe truck starts fine and when it was idling just started this loud machine gun sound for a few seconds, then stopped, and then happened again. I turned it off, and now...? May or may not be related but the battery was dead yesterday. We jumped it quickly and drove it to let it charge. Had the battery checked and it tested good. The battery is only about 6 months old but it's been pretty hot here in southern NM so figured that was probably the cause. There was no check engine light. I did a search here and spark plugs were mentioned for a Ford, but not sure if that holds true for the Honda.

Ticking sound from the engine compartment. Here are the clues:
Have observed this since at least probably 2009. Affects a 2000 Saturn LW1 with DOHC 4-cylinder engine.
It's a mechanical "ticking" sound that seems to come from the right side under the hood.
It only happens in cold weather.
It typically starts a couple of minutes after the car is first started up on a cold morning.
It typically goes away when the engine warms up (after several minutes).
It always repeats at the same rate, maybe about 7?8 ticks per second.
It is independent of engine RPM.
It is independent of vehicle speed
Sometimes (but not always) it stops when you lift your foot off the accelerator (it may tend to do this after the engine has warmed up a bit). When you depress the accelerator it resumes It doesn't seem to affect performance but I'd love to know what it is and whether I need to worry.
I have a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid (automatic). The car has a bit under 200,000 miles on it, and has been used in a lot of long distance commuting and driving. We do pretty frequent check ups on it, and checked oil/other fluids last week -- all were good (the oil is admittedly getting close to needing a change, but definitely not within the next few weeks).
I was on the return trip of a 300+ mile drive when I noticed a rapid clicking/ticking sound roughly under the right side (passenger side) dash of the car. It was not affected by turning, accelerating or braking. The clicking was not constant, not very loud (I did not notice it over my music at first) and would come and go. If it was affected by anything, it appeared to come or go when a bump was hit, but that also wasn't necessarily always the case (hit bumps and it didn't stop, hit bumps and it didn't start). I checked wheel wells and under car for objects (suspension is a bit worn and car is low to begin with, so it rides close to ground and this has been a problem before; didn't seem similar) and there was nothing.
Google has led me to the possibility of sticky lifters, and though the sound is similar-ish, I am under the impression that this would be a much more constant noise and I am also fairly confident in the current quality of my oil.
The chirping sound happens when I go over bumps but not all the time. If I take a short little ride to the store at low speeds it won't happen but as soon as I get driving in the city or on the highway it sounds like a bird on crack back there, really loud as I go over any type of bumps. I searched and learned that it could be the wheel rubbing the caliper but its not that. There is nothing leaking back there and no visible signs of damage or wear. Brakes have plenty of pad left and rotor is good, i check the tire well also and everything is tight.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 Honda Accord Coupe EX V4, there is this chirping sound coming from under the hood it sounds like its coming from the section in front of the driver s seat. I hear it when I apply the breaks or even if I am just driving normally but once I put the car in park I don t hear anything. It sounds like birds chirping and sometimes it sounds for a little bit other times it is consistent. So it basically sounds if I am driving, braking, at a red light but it doesn't really sound when I put it in park. I assumed it was the driving belt but that's located towards the front of the hood on the passenger side maybe I am hearing it wrong but to me it sounds like its coming from the driver s front section area of the front hood. I literally just bought this used car with 80k mileage.
View 2 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2001 Subaru Forester. She just had a new clutch installed. When she got it back there is a chirping sound coming from around the slave piston assembly. The mechanic has worked on it several times and he can't figure out what is causing the noise. I can make the chirping start or stop by moving the fork on back of the slave piston but can't figure out why it is making this noise?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2011 Sante Fe AWD 3.5L with 22K on it. The last few days I have been hearing this chirping noise coming from the left rear tire when I am stopped. When I am driving with windows closed or open I do not hear it, but when I pull into my driveway or a parking spot I hear it occasionally. Today, since I am looking out for it I get home, get out of the car and go to the left rear wheel well and sure enough it sounds like a chirping noise. Does not sound like it is mechanical and when I look under the car all seems OK. I put my ear right up to the top of the wheel near the well and I hear it. Sometimes it does not happen..
I suspect the Tire Pressure Monitoring System.....
So When driving around I'm hearing this squealing almost chirping noise and it sounds like its coming from the rear of the Truck. I greased the bushings and leafs but that didn't fix it, to me it sounds like a rotating noise. Don't think it's the brakes cause it makes the noise when driving not stop.
Also, a bad alternator would make noise while driving over 40+mph, like a loud whistle?

About two weeks ago I started hearing some creaking noises coming from the rear of my car. I thought, I need to put some grease to the RSB bushings, but this didn't work. After a close inspection I notice that the sway bar was rubbing.
The RSB was installed about 3 1/2 months ago and didn't have any issues. What could be causing the problem? I am suspecting the endlinks are going to be culprit. the car is used as a daily driver. what endlinks would you recommend to get?
I have 1997 F250 LD since i bough it has been doing this chirping sound coming from the serpentine belt and the pulley area but when the truck has been working for 15 - 20 min it goes away
This is apart from the from the problem before I think the fan clutch is broken because when I start the truck I can hear the fan going at the same speed of the engine is that normal ? even when the truck is cold
1996 ford explorer xlt 4.0. One day it worked fine the next day it would not start. When I turn the key there are no dash lights or exterior lights, nothing. There is also no crank over no noise of any kind. I checked all my fuses, I had one in my power distributer. It was for my premium sound, amplifier ect. I cant check the relays I don't have the correct tools. I was thinking maybe the pcm relay has gone bad? I tried jumping the car as well and nothing happened at all either.
View 19 RepliesTwo months ago, my 2011 Ford Escape (27,000 miles) was sounding great. I took it in for a standard oil change and tire rotation. When I picked it up they mentioned that they found a nail in what is now the passenger-front tire and patched it for me. When I drove it home, I could hear a sound like "whom whom whom whom whom" coming from the front-end between 45 and 60 MPH.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and drove it for 2 months until yesterday when I finally had enough and took it back to have them look for a cause to the problem. They said it needed an alignment and we went ahead and did that. HOWEVER, they said that after the alignment, the car would make the same sound for 500 to 1000 miles and then it would go away. I got the car back, and at best it sounds the same, and at worst it maybe sounds worse than it did.
My question: Is there any reason the car should make the same sound for 500 to 1000 miles after the alignment? Also, was it an alignment problem or do I need new tires or something else? I suspect I have been screwed by the dealership.
A few months ago my car started whining at highway speeds. The noise has increased in pitch and volume, and is not dependent on engine speed--in fact, if I turn the engine off and coast, the whine persists, lowering in pitch (and getting quieter) when the car slows down. Recently the car has also started vibrating when I turn slightly to the right, as when I change lanes on the highway or bank right on a long turn (sharp right turns from a full stop don't elicit any noise). Do I have a problem with my alignment? I notice my tire wear looks a bit uneven.
View 4 RepliesI drive a 2005 toyota mini-van. Lately the engine has started sounding strange. it has been sounding like a tiny diesel engine or like a go-kart. There are no lights on on the dash, I have not noticed any changes in fuel consumption, acceleration etc. and the temperature is normal. Is this a timing issue? is my car about to die? what are the repair costs?
View 5 RepliesThis make and model is the same as a Chevy Trailblazer. It has 124K miles on it, when it's cruising, there is no weird noise from the engine, but when I give it gas at any speed, there is a distinct sound coming from the rear of the engine. It sounds like when you put a playing card on your bike and the spokes hit it, but faster. The more gas, the louder the sound. It's gotten progressively worse lately. My first thought was rattling valves, but I'm not sure. It also sounds like a hole in a vacuum hose or something. With the hood up and an ear to the engine, the sound is definitely coming from the engine, not around it, and toward the rear.
View 2 RepliesMy awesome 1990 Toyota Pickup (6 cyl., supercab), fondly named Ol' Rusty, has a measly 245,000 miles on it and still running strong. The one problem is that when it is very cold out such as this morning (-10F), I get a terrible noise coming from under the hood just in front of the steering column. It sounds like a belt rubbing, but I can't find it. It happens when I start going faster than 20 mph and goes away once the engine is completely warm. When it's happening, the speedometer jumps a bit. Interestingly, if I warm the truck up for 10 minutes or more so that the engine is completely warm, it still happens when I first drive the truck. Is this something I need to worry about or can I continue to ignore it like I have been for the last 3 years?
