04 Honda CRV: I just had new rotors / pads / calibers put on my rear 2 tires because I was getting a loud creaking sound whenever I reversed or stoped at a stop sign. Most notibly I would hear it after the car had sat for a few hours as it's not happening a 100% of the time... Am I looking at joint or wheel well problems now? The loud creaking is still an issue...
View 3 RepliesI have about 200k on my forester. Friday when I was leaving work I cranked it up and it made a loud knocking sort of sound. I drove it home (about 15 miles) and on the way the sound lessened. It was louder when the car was idling but she made it home ok. Next day, started the car and it happened again. Not more than 50 feet up the road we stopped at a stop sign and it sounded like a semi was starting up around the corner. Much to my dismay it was not a semi but my own car. Engine shut off. We pushed it back to the house and tried to check it out the next day. This time, we started it, didn't go anywhere, and within 30 seconds it turned off. Same loud knocking sort of sound. The confusing part is that all of this happened within two days. There was no gentle sound leading up to it for a few weeks or even a few days. Knocked on Friday, shut off on Saturday. What could be going on?
View 19 RepliesThe radio in my 1991 Honda Civic has been dying a slow death over the past year. First it would stop working if the weather was too hot. Then it would only work sporadically, finally it almost never worked. Whenever the radio stopped working, there would be a loud electrical "pop" sound, so I thought it might have a short. Yesterday my husband fixed the upper rear brake light (cleaned contacts) so it would pass inspection. Now the radio works perfectly! Are the brake lights and radio on the same circuit?
View 10 RepliesOk so I have I 2007 hyundai accent with a weird problem. When the car is in normal operating temperature (180-210) and stopped at a stoplight or stop sign the car will have a fluctuating idle. This problem only happens when the car is at idle and with the heat or air conditioning on. With the heat and the air condition off the car will do it once in a great while. Things I have done so far. Replace the pcv valve clean the egr. To me it sounds like a voltage problem like the car is having too much load at idle. But I am unsure. Took it to a mechanic the other day and he couldn't replicate the problem.

What happens is when i back out the drive way and the go into drive, i hear and feel a rough loud clink down under even when im at a stop sign.. I am a first time truck and diesel owner due to my field of work. Also it has a rought time starting in the mornings or anytime the truck is completely cold. Then after it warms up it behaves like it should. also ill get on the throttle and when i come to a stop, the idle is rough and slowly comes back to normal. ...???
View 10 RepliesJust bought a L/Certified pre-owned 2013 ES 350. I am shocked at how much the car vibrates and noise increases when stopped at a light or stop sign. I tried a 2015 ES 350 and the same thing occurs!! The dealership technician says everything is operating "to specification". This is a disgrace for such a high-tech, luxury car.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2005 Honda Odyssey. A few day ago I noticed a weird smell, sort of like burning chemicals, only after driving the 25 miles to work and later that day the same. Drove it over the weekend around town with no problems. Just to be safe, took it to my trusted local mechanic on Monday...he could find no problems except black walnut debris from critters. Drove it to work Tuesday, no problems there. On way home at stop sign, hit the gas to go forward and car wouldn't go forward. Luckily I was going downhill and could pull over.
Tow truck driver was able to drive it up flatbed and brought it to shop. Mechanic said transmission fluid was dark and flush/changed it three times. It is driving absolutely fine with no problems(to the surprise of my mechanic) though mechanic said transmission life may be limited. I am now afraid to drive my car as I commute to work and have three children. It has 106,000 miles and always has been maintained on schedule. The transmission fluid was flushed last year for the first time at around 95,000 miles as recommended by mechanic.
I recently had an oil change and 30,000 mile service at a Honda dealer. Car was running perfectly when I took it in, but now infrequently 'moans'. The low moan usually happens after I have driven the car for awhile, at a stop sign and I slowly accelerate to take off. In SF, there are lots of stop signs! As soon as I accelerate to full speed, the noise stops.
Can happen as often as five times in ten mins or not at all if I am only driving on the flat. Have had it back to the dealership numerous times since, test driven it three times with them and only heard the noise once (with a technician). They cannot find a reason for it and seem to have given up.
The car is a 2009, has 16477 miles on it and is under a Honda Care warranty. I purchased the car in 2012 as a preowned certified Honda and have had no problems with it and as I only drive about 3000 miles a year have had no previous services or maintenance issues.
I own a 2002 Acura TL- car has 100K, i am the original owner- always maintained etc.. I am having problems with the transmission- car was in accident back in 2005, and tranny was replaced..Anyways, when i back car out and then hit it in drive, car goes to neutral. also when i drive, approach stop sign, and then accelerate, car goes to netural- dealer says need new tranny- cost is 2400 plus tax.... so i was thinking of doing that but now they say there is a leak with the oil pump- i said i dont see oil leaking they say its hitting the pan, could go in a month or in a year- cost 1200 to fix.. then he said the brake lines will need to be changed evenually- again 1000 or more.....ball joints- they quoated me 625...
So they say they will give me 500 bucks for a trade in- this car is in really good conditiion except for the supposed problems they found..If they car wouldnt have these problems i would get the tranny fixed- but i dont know what to do- ball joints dont have to be replaced- they hvae a little play.. the oil leak? I mean i have a 2000 accord that the dealer says is leaking- my private mechanic says all accords leak.
My 2002 F-150 with the 5.4 has an issue with a high rev (1000 RPM for a few seconds) while at a stop sign, along with a clunking/banging sound coming from under the truck. This is when I have the brake mashed all the way, and this all happens at the same time, almost every time I come to a stop at a stop sign or light. I do have an intake manifold leak, which i have recently determined, but I do not know if the high rev at a stop sign has to do with the manifold leak or to do with the transmission sounding thump I hear. Could this be a torque converter not unlocking, and then suddenly unlocking? Because after the thump sound, the RPM's go down to around 650 from 1000 every time.
View 4 Replies2012 f250 SC xl 6.2 - Is it normal to hear a single clunk sound on occasion when accelerating from a stop sign? Doesn't happen all the time mind you and I don't ever remember hearing it in the past.
Now just today, while backing up my driveway, as soon as I started the reverse motion, I heard the same clunk. Sounds like metal to metal and comes from the rear of the truck.
Only 7000 miles on her and I treat her like a baby...anything I should be concerned with?
Just bought a new 'C.' 35k, and now 271k. After I come to a complete stop it makes a creaking sound like bad bed springs during hard and light breaking. I've baby this car, I love it, and I just want it to last for as long as it can. It's really annoying to hear every time after I come to a stop. Not before, not during -- right after (just like when you make a complete stop at the stop sign or red light, or just stopping in general).
This is supposed to be a brand new car. There's something wrong and it's not a normal thing for Prius's after you've start using it daily. I've never heard it before until today.
I have pushed the back windshield, and haven't gotten a peep anywhere, so it's not that. It's coming from the outside, because it is so much louder driving slower with the windows down. It appears to be coming from the rear left of the car. It's a definite "creak," and not a "thunk." Sounds like creepy stairs being walked over repeatedly...I haven't investigated hard enough to really pin point the direct spot, but it would sound to me like it has something to do with the suspension in the back left. However, it's not any more prominent when I hit a bump than it is just accelerating or decelerating, so that also leads me away from it being a suspension issue. I know I should look further into it to locate the spot.

Its been pretty cold up here and lately i find my car making a creaking sound when i brake coming to complete stop. I talked to a couple other guys in a Hyundai chat, and they said it was the Elantra frame in the cold.
Just wanted to get some others input, anything I can tighten up to make it go away, or bushings?? I am almost positive its not the brakes because i had them checked just before my winter tires went on.
2014 FX4 F. Got 6000 miles on the truck, front tires are wearing on the outside edge, and also when turning the wheels to the max in either direction I get a loud creaking sound,??
View 14 RepliesI've noticed a creaking sound coming from the rear of my 2012 Honda Odyssey when I'm in the garage, loading & unloading people & stuff. I can recreate it by rocking the wheel/tire back and forth by hand. It's only the right rear wheel that creaks, but the left rear wheel "sings" when I do this rocking motion. I don't hear anything when I'm driving (even when it's quiet & I have the windows open). The rotors are overdue for a resurface, and have been since we bought the van 7 months ago. Could this be part of the problem?
View 10 RepliesOur 2008 Honda Accord has about 89,000 miles on it. For the last few years, it has been making a creaking/groaning sound at low speeds. Generally between 10-20 miles an hour (so you hear in more in rush hour when you are generally annoyed anyway), only when its hot (due to extensive driving or weather - we live in Texas so its awful in the summer) and it does not correlate to using the brakes. We took it to Honda and they said the "bushings" were worn but not broken so they wouldn't fix it. Our own shop has replace both front control arms. The right side they did last week and 3 days later the sound is starting up again. Its almost as if they can lube it to fix it temporarily but I'd much rather a permanent fix. My father in law suggested the struts.
View 1 RepliesI own a 2010 Toyota Corolla S that I purchased with about 30k miles, I have put about 65k on it since purchasing it. When applying the brakes in dry conditions I am receiving what feels like the abs engaging and a loud pulsing sound/creaking sound. The brakes will pulsate as if I am stopping on snow or ice but no traction control or abs lights will not illuminate. This has been happening for a good while(ever since I purchased the car). I have replaced the front rotors and pads and the problem purists.

My 97 Civic DX Coupe has 74,400 miles. In recent months it has started making a grumbling kind of muted creaking sound when I make any hard turn, does so on any 90 degree turn unless I take it slow and gradual. It has never made this sound before so I wondering what is up.
View 2 RepliesI carried eleven 40 lb bags of dirt in my Honda Civic (1998) - in the trunk and backseat - and then drove about two miles with the dirt in my car. After unloading the dirt, when I got back into the car I heard a distinct squeaking sound - like something in the suspension moving or creaking - the sound seemed to come from the middle of the car. I started up my car and there was no sound but as soon as I began to drive I noticed that my car was leaning distinctly to the left and there was a rubbing and squealing sound coming from the left front end of the car - or so I think. I got out to check whether there was anything hitting the tire, but there wasn't.
I didn't drive the car very far, except to park it. The car is drivable, but just makes an unbelievably loud squealing/rubbing noise now. It does not pull to the left, but is leaning to the left as if something broke or cracked or I have a flat tire (which I don't).
I've carried heavy loads before - but perhaps this was the last for my Honda. I thought it might be the suspension, then maybe cracked CV boots. I have 129,000 on the car and have kept up maintenance on it.
My 2011 2.4l Sonata made a metal on metal sound suddenly the other day. About 4 days ago, I drove about 2 hours away from where I live, Mostly highway, about 80mph to a go kart race. Got out of the car for a while and came back in and was pulling away to run the store and as i started to approach the first stop sign maybe 500-600 ft from where i was parked, i heard a bad metal on metal sound, came to a complete stop at the sign and it stopped. Went back to the race after driving to the store about 5 miles away.
Got in the car to leave and same thing, just to the stop sign 500-600ft away. Drove home like i said mostly highway, and didn't hear a thing. Today, about 4 days later, I drove to Chicago O'hare airport, about 30min away, and it was fine the whole way there. However on the way back, after about 20-25min, I heard it again. So I came to complete stop as I was forced to by a traffic light as I was taking my exit off the highway, and It started making that sound again. So i came to a complete stop at the light and started moving again when it turned green and couldn't heard a thing.
