2010 Lexus Rx450h... Rattles in the morning, only when really cold. (Around freezing?). Somewhere in or near the passenger side door, or the air vent by that door. It gets quiet(er) after warmup. Car has been at the dealer for a week... They can't find it; they want to pack in additional insulation. That hardly sounds like a sound solution.

It's not slow turning over just takes a little bit longer to actually catch and start.
When the motor is warm or the outside temperature is closer to freezing or above I find that it turns over for no more than about 2 seconds before it starts.
I am thinking the longer turning over when cold is a good thing since the motor is starting to pump oil when it is turning over and allowing the internals to get lubricated before starting and revving.
Hear rattle from the hatch on a 06 model? I have had my TC for two days now, and have had this rattling sound from the hatch. pretty annoying.
View 30 RepliesI have a 2001 Toyota Solara Convertible, V6, low mileage (92,000), and it will reliably NOT start when the temperature gets below freezing. I have tried a couple of tank fulls of injector cleaner on advice from a friend, but no success. Once the temp falls below freezing overnight, the engine cranks but never catches. Once the temp is above freezing for a few hours, it fires up fine.
View 9 RepliesThe windshield washers of 2014 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v) didn't work all winter if the temp was +20F or less. I'm using -30F or -40F washer fluid. I use the same fluid in my 1995 Previa, and its washers worked all winter. A friend has a 2014 Prius, which didn't have any washer problems.
I tried pouring warm water over the nozzles, but they're location makes it difficult to reach them. Is it the nozzles or is it the rubber hose that feeds them from the reservoir?

View 11 RepliesWhen the temperature drops below about 30 degrees f, the windshield washer won't spray. I am using washer fluid so I don't think that it is freeing or that there is any water in the lines. I read somewhere that this might be a defective motor, part number 98510-26100.
View 1 RepliesSo I've had my car for 3 years now. I've done an emissions delete, replaced maf, diverter valve, coolant temp sensor, thermostat, timing belt kit, fuel filter, air filter, starter and battery (for another issue) have a 3" DP and replaced the O2 when I did that, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, tested another n75 in my car.
The problem: the car sometimes has a really hard time starting when it it way below freezing. When it's around cold, at freezing or under the car will start fine. But the problem starts after I back out of my driveway and take the clutch out and put on the gas. When I try to accelerate the car will not accelerate. You can have your foot pressed to the floor and the car will act as it's stalling out and sputter but it actually won't stall because the call will keep driving and then all of a sudden power will come back and it will take off. The situation can be remedied by either pushing the clutch in. The car will idle no mall or if when the car is sputtering I can tap the gas quickly an it will build up speed and the problem will go away.
I have a 2003 Ford crown Victoria with 137,000km (85,000 miles) which is in good condition overall. It runs well in the city and highway with few problems. I have noticed 1 issue with this car that is consistent. When it is snowing and below freezing it will hesitate occasionally on the highway at speeds over 45 mph. It does not put out any codes. I have sprayed the ignition wires with no change. I have not changed any ignition parts. I did over 500 miles on the highway this weekend in moderate rain with no trouble at all at temperatures around freezing. Today was snowing and below freezing with same problem on highway with occasional hesitation. In the city today with traction problems and tires spinning the ABS and Brake light came on. They were out when I drove it home.

View 2 RepliesI just bought a ceritifed pre-owned 2010 RX 450h. I love it, but a couple of questions as I get to know the car.
1) The rain sensor seems to not work. I set the wipers to what on another car would be "intermittent" but the wipers never come on. Am I missing something, am I a dummy? Or should I just get the dealer to replace the sensor?
2) Any way to turn off the seatbelt warning chime?
It almost sounds like somebody is taking a small hammer and banging at the plastic cover on top the engine when the vehicle is started new from cold. After about 8 or 9 knocks it goes away.
Taking it to a dealer soon to get it checked.
2010 Model year. 81k miles.
I just bought a certified 2011 RX 450h and my sirius keeps going back and forth to no signal for no reason. I've had sirius for 9 years in other cars and it's never had this bad of reception. It's at the dealer now but the loaner 2013 RX350 they gave me does the same thing. None of my other cars perform this way on these same roads. Had this poor reception problem, what has been done to remedy?

View 2 RepliesI dropped off my 2015 RX450h at the dealership yesterday because the rain sensing wipers no longer sensed rain. Late in the afternoon the service writer called and told me that they ordered a new windshield because the sensor is part of the windshield?
Sounds strange. I've heard that some aftermarket windshields were interfering with sensor's ability to sense but never an OEM windshield.
I test drove a 2013 RX450h this morning and almost decided to purchase it. The one problem I experienced was a dark area, about 1/3 of the nav screen on the driver's side with my sunglasses on. Taking the glasses off eliminated the problem. I tried a different pair of sunglasses and was able to duplicate the dark area. I am assuming this problem is caused by polarized lenses. I do not have the problem with my 2010 LS nor the 2013 GS350 I also tested.
View 14 RepliesI noticed recently that my car has been running a little sluggish lately and can't figure out why. What I mean by sluggish is that when I press the gas the car is relatively slow to get up to speed. Getting onto the freeway for example, or just trying to take off "quickly" (it's a Hybrid so not trying to race anyone) just not noticing the car doesn't seem to get up to speed as quickly as before.
This is with ECO mode on or off, just more noticeable with it on. Just got the oil changed this morning, still noticing it.
The car has only about 35K on it so really puzzled as to what might be causing this problem.
My less than 7000 miles RX started making noise when I pushed the brake pedal. Evidently it sounded like the "LS brake squawk" according to service foreman. Not sure if the actuator is same in all RXs.
View 3 RepliesI brought our 2010 Rx450h to the dealership several months ago due to an occasional clicking noise in the upper steering column, behind the steering wheel area. The repetitive clicking was most noticeable at slower speeds while turning the steering wheel.
The dealership had the car for about 3 days saying it was a loose cable and then told me when I picked up the car, that sound was the way it was supposed to be, part of the electric assist steering. So the clicking noise continued.
Now the steering is getting stiffer. Some days much stiffer. This happens more when turning the wheel slowly.
This is my first winter with my 6.7 and I've noticed that since the weather has been cold the motor rattles a lot more, doesn't seem to want to rev as freely and it seems like the turbo response is slower. I've noticed that my truck goes into exhaust cleaning more frequently, three times in the last week before Christmas. The transmission thumps on downshifts the colder it is. The first shift out of my driveway is between a thump and a bang. The dealer told me I'm not ready for a trans flush, it's not cold enough to need to use the engine heater and that some of the noise and lack of performance could be winter blend fuel.
