2000 Saturn L Series Station Wagon 73,772 miles
The Check Engine Soon light was on this morning but when on highway today and at 70MPH the Service light came on and then the Reduced Power light.
Couldn't drive past 5MPH but when I turned the key off and back on the power returned but the tranny was Slamming into gears. I made it back home but where to go from here.
I just got my ISF 3 weeks ago and this issue got me pretty worried. I would like to hear if there has been a recall or a fix on this issue. While in Drive (D), the tranny wouldn't shift past 2nd for a couple of seconds. It went as high as 4.5RMP and wouldn't shift, the RPM kept going up. Letting go off the gas did not work, the RMP just stood where it was and slowly decreased with the speed. This lasted for a few seconds. I must admit that I was just pulling out of the driveway and she wasn't properly warmed up (16 degrees temp or 60fh)...
View 7 RepliesI've got an '02 Jetta GLX with a 09a tiptronic. Last year I had to replace one of the shift solenoids. (Car wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. Now I've got an issue with the car slamming between gears, mostly up shifting. I've ordered the n93 solenoid but I've been reading the post with the symptoms. The job is labor intensive and I really don't want to miss anything. Is there another solenoid I should be replacing.
View 3 RepliesMy sonata 2012 with 71K km on it just started hard shifting in the morning, after first start. It slamming in D from R very harsh and then shifts all other gears for ~3 minutes harshly (upshift / downshift) and then it gets fine and shifts gears with absolutely no problem throughout the day. Dealer of course was not able to reproduce the problem.

When my truck on the idle the voltage reading 12.2V , but when I turn the HIDs and the a/c plus the a/c fan, the voltage drop to almost 9.5V , Then the transmission starts to slamming the gears. Is it the alternator acting or the Battery Which is new. I don't have the battery light on the dash but I think the dash light is not working .
View 14 Replies98 Gmc Jimmy 4.3L engine 4X4, they told me when the Abs light would come on will driving the tranny would not shift past 2nd gear, so after a month of not driving it, I took it for a drive Abs light was out vehicle drove fine shifted good even took it on the highway still ran good, two weeks later problem is back Abs light comes on after driving for a few minutes and the tranny goes into limp mode can't shift past 2nd gear plus the speedometer was not working, could it be speed sensor on the tranny causing the Abs light and the tranny from working wright.
View 1 RepliesWe have a 2000 Saturn SL2 (120,000 miles). Last night we drove to L.A. and back (from San Diego) , so about 250 miles round trip. For the last 45 miles or so we had the radio on quite loud. At some point in that 30-45 miles the engine developed a very loud knocking noise - like rocks being spun in a tumbler - which we noticed when we got off the free-way and turned down the radio.
This noise did not effect the way the car handled as I did not notice anything when the radio was up. We have been listening to a lot of sounds and I am concerned it could be a Rod Knock - it sounds a lot like this [URL] ... from inside the car, outside it was more of a constant pinging/thunking noise - less gravel sound.
So my quandary is this, our mechanic is not open Sundays so I cannot ask him, but when we take it to him tomorrow, do we drive it or tow it? If the rod is starting to go I do not want to inadvertently do more damage by driving it. The mechanic is 8-10 miles away. We can get their either on the freeway or through surface streets.
Yesterday I had my first test drive of the 2012 2.5L gas Passat SEL automatic. It seemed there was often a little "stumble" as the car accelerated from rest. Is this normal or just an issue with this particular car ?
The only other annoyance I noticed was the rapid up-shifting through the gears past 30 mph. I guess it's set up this way for economy reasons, but acceleration seems to hit a wall when this occurs, then I have to apply more pressure on the go pedal. The salesman was one week on the job and knew far less about the car than I did.
Today I bought an OBD2 scanner and was trying it on my 2001 accent but the app on the cellphone ( torque ) said : " couldn't connect ECU " . I think there is no ECU in my car, any example about trying the OBD on a 01 accent ?

I have a 2000, automatic Grand Am SE with 161,000KM in her and everything seemed to be working fine but as I was driving it today my speedometer just stopped working and when I try to get her up to second gear she kind of jerks forward.
Also, today when I was driving she couldn't gear up at all, she just went from first to second to third to fourth gear without picking up any speed. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the transmission?
I have a 2011 camry se 4cyl with 15k miles. Just wanted to know if you have to change Trans Fluid because my tranny shifts hard between gears.
View 3 RepliesI notice it happens driving between 20-30 mph and accelerating very slowly. Rpm around 1500. The tranny changes gears up to to 3rd or 4th gear and the vibration starts. If i accelerate, it goes away. During quick acceleration I never notice this vibration. Also if I drive the car in manual and go thru the gears i never notice the stutter. The problem feels like driving a manual car in a higher gear at a low speed and need to downshift.

View 1 RepliesI've noticed something very strange today with my Lexus. It was -8, in Toronto, and I had to start my car quickly and drive it. The engine was still cold, but I had to leave early. The odd thing which happened, is that after driving slowly and coming to a stop, for a stop sign, the car wouldn't go, though it was on drive. The car was still cold. It seemed, that the tranny wouldn't switch gears.
I brought the car to a total stop, and put it to a parking position, then drove again for a couple of feet, and the tranny wouldn't go again. I waited for the car to warm up a little bit, and the care drove normally after. Is it normal like that? Do we have to wait for the car to warm up? Or there's something wrong with my Tranny.
I'm at 5,500 miles and the last couple of mornings I've had my tranny slip and lunge between gears, sometimes 2nd and 3rd and once out of 1st. I know there's an update/flash that needs to be done but my build date says not required. My truck was finished April of 2012. I'm going to call the stealer but I'm sure they will "check it out" and say nothing's wrong so it would pin point this issue.
View 7 RepliesWe are having issues shifting the car it is hard to shift into gears. I have replaced the transmission and the clutch, trans mount is still good all mounts for that matter are still in great condition its getting tiring to have to slam the car into gear all the time.
View 1 Replies2007 Honda Odyssey. 105,000. Temperature about 0. 6 hour drive. About 15 minutes from destination, no heat, car starts blowing cold air. Temperature gauge still registers in normal range. Arrive at destination. Later that night, drove about 15 minutes to local ER, and drove back from ER about 2 hours later. No heat, but car otherwise fine. Next day (happened to be Christmas Day), begin drive home. Drive a little more than 15 minutes (about a minute passed the hospital), stopped at a stop light. Car stalls and dies. Restarts, but immediately temperature gauge shoots way paste "H" in a bad way.
Over the next day, local mechanic (in Petoskey MI) checks car, says it is low two gallons of coolant. He says radiator leaks, but he has no radiators there. Everything else works fine, and he says it is safe to drive back to Chicago, as long as I stop to check coolant. Drive home to Chicago, no leakage. Everything works fine. Get home, take car to local Honda dealer. They do "pressure test." Find no leak. Head Gaskets are fine. They see evidence of massive coolant leak (dried coolant all over catalytic converter closest to radiator, and over lower portion of radiator) but find no leak, and coolant level is fine. No sign of any leaks at top of radiator. So, what gives? Car is since running fine, no leaks. Everything works. Still driving in extreme weather in Chicago. Coolant level normal.
2002 sd 7.3 4x4. When I start up engine and put truck in any gear I get nothing but the ugly clicking sound when I shift back into park. Turn off engine and restart, everything works as normal. Doesn't do it every time 4-8 normal start ups then a bad one. Brought it to a tranny guy, head scratcher for him. Any other solution before I start changing parts?
View 6 RepliesI just bought a 1997 Saturn SL2 5 speed it runs great but when shifting gears the RPM stays high while changing the gears. The man who sold it to us said it's done this ever since he's had it (2yrs) and it also burns oil in between the oil changes. I've been told so much I'm torn what to try and do to fix's the RPM to not stay so high while changing the gears.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Saturn SL2 (automatic). A few days ago it abruptly started thumping pretty heavily when shifting gears, especially going into reverse and 4th (or possibly 5th) gear. A couple mechanics told me the transmission is going, and that it would need to be replaced (but it would cost more than the car is worth. One said that we could try replacing the computer that controls the transmission, but it would cost ~$300, and might not do any good. Another said to try Lucas Transmission Fix. I've seen mixed reviews of it online, so I'm wary. Is it a good product, or does it just briefly mask the problem? Also, I looked under the hood, and cannot tell where I would even put it.

It was running ok, but recently it started to idle rough and it revs up when i change gears and then when i release the clutch it drops down and remains about 1200 rpm. Pretty much while I press on the brakes to stop, and press the clutch to get on neutral,the rpm shoots up and slowly goes back down.
Also when I start the car it feels like its revving, but my foot is on the brake and the car is on neutral.Also no matter how much I've driven it, I can go into first and 2nd gear w/out having to press the accelerator and it will start to move. the rpm will remain @ about 1000 to 1200. The check engine light is not on and the car seems to be using up more gas.
I'm considering changing the plugs and wires, gas filter to see if it s. I noticed oil leaking a little around the valve cover, so I may change that too.
