Im am 6 weeks post. I had my myomectomy on December 18th. I had sex last night (2/10/2015). I started bleeding while having sex but no pain. The blood was bright red/pink. Is this normal? I had sex before 2/10 and I didnt have any problems, no bleeding no pain. Just this one time I start bleeding.
View 1 RepliesHi just wondering if anyboy else had sudden pain 3 weeks after open myomectomy? I was recovering well and beginning to feel almost back to normal other than some pulling pain at the sides of my incision scar and being slightly uncomfortable sitting up normally for longer periods. I also feel less bloated and although my stomach is still a bit swollen it is back to being flatter without the pregnant bump look.
I didn't have a general anaesthetic opting for a spinal anaesthetic and sedation instead. Initially after the surgery I had some issues with pain relief due to not being able to take certain medications and also going to the toilet. My GP gave me some morphine and strong laxatives and all went back to normal. I stopped taking the morphine about 8 days ago and was able to cope with the pulling pain. The skin around the scar is still very sensitive and tingle.
Since yesterday I have a sharp pain almost in the centre of my belly but slightly to the left and it is very painful to press on that side. I should add that I've been doing quite a lot round the house as my husband is unable to do much due to hurting his hip while I was in hospital and is therefore on crutches. I have been trying not to carry anything and I feel that I am still very weak so not sure if I might have pulled or strained something.
I have an appointment booked with my GP tomorrow anyway (actually to discuss something else) but was wondering if this was normal?
Had a successful removal of a golfball size fibroid on 24th march after having 2 horrendous long and heavy clotting and bleeding episodes. Was so hopeful that myomectomy will resolve the problem, but I dont think I am so lucky. 1st period post op arrived 2 weeks later...lots of cramping and very heavy flow, no clotting though...and lasted for 2 weeks including trailing off period. After 25 days (thats my normal cycle) the 2nd period started...it was one from HELL....lots of cramping and LOTS and LOTS of clots ...some as big as my fist!!! Today is day 11 still bleeding however not heavily but still red fresh blood.
Anyone with similar experience?
I've been on this forum quite a bit now. Very long story. The main gist is I am now 6 months post myomectomy. Initially recovering well. My periods seemed back to normal and all ok. Initially lasting for between 3 and 5 days. As time has gone on they have got worse. Last month I had 2 weeks of terrible back pain before a period that lasted 14 days. I am still ridiculously emotional and it has actually hit me, how serious everything got before my op with my weight plummeting to below 5 and half stone. Occasionally something will trigger a flashback and set me off completely, reminding me of the pain I had for so long and the unnecessary treatment. I am feeling quite low at the moment. Is anyone else having a similar experience? I am hoping it is all the hormones settling down. It is having a huge impact on my life, I am a total roller coaster!
View 8 RepliesI am 4 weeks post laparoscopic myomectomy.i have uterine hematoma of about 8 cm. I am anxious about it. Can it be reabsorbed by my body? Doctor said she will aspirate it If it will not get smaller. I still have pain even after i urinate. I have checked my urine for UTI but result was negative.. Am i in big trouble here?

View 4 RepliesI am in Australia (this website is fantastic by the way) and have just finished my first week of recovery after having an open myomectomy to remove a 15x11cm fibroid.
The fibroid was on the outside right hand side of my uterus.
I feel like I am recovering quite fast (have been able to get up and active during the day). However, I have a constant tenderness like pain on the inside on the right hand side. I have been sleeping on my sides at night because I can't stand lying on my back for too long! I feel like this may be irritating my insides though, do you think I could do permanent damage by lying on my side?
What are your experiences 1 week in post op?
I had a myomectomy and signed off work for 10 weeks. I'm now fully back to work but still experiencing some pains in my tummy. I know that one fibroid was left behind (I had 14, largest measuring 10cms) because it was small and in an awkward place and just wondering if anyone in a similar situation still gets pains? My pains are generally in the ovary area, each side taking it in turns to hurt. Last couple of days it's been my left ovary area and now Im making frequent trips to bathroom to pass not that much urine and also have strong back pain just above lower back
Feel like almost my fibroids could have come back with these pains i'm having. Can they come back so soon? Or perhaps it's just my insides are still sore and healing. Is it normal to feel all this after this length of time?
It is 5 weeks since I had a bikini line open myomectomy. Had 1 orange sized fibroid in all layers of my uterus. My doctor said the location was making my bleeding particularly heavy. I had tried to avoid surgery for the 6 years that I experienced symptoms. I just couldn't keep from being very anemic. I ended up needing a blood transfusion as my hemoglobin was at 6. A few days after the transfusion I had the surgery. It was all done quickly to prevent another period as they where getting increasingly heavy. I am happy to report that my period was only 5 days and no cramps! My anemia is going away quickly! My scar is still swollen and gets worse the more tired I get (which is surprisingly quickly). My sleep is still off and there is a little pain. But it seems normal considering it is a major surgery.
View 4 RepliesIt's 3 weeks today since I've done my myomectomy. I'm still a little swollen and I get either sharp shooting pains or what feels like cramps in the area. I think maybe it's my bladder that's cramping ? because I feel a slight discomfort when I pee. I still get tired very easily, even if all I'm doing is walking around the house. I lost 1.3 litres of blood and my blood count's lot less than what it should be. Is that the reason why ? I was supposed to do a blood count on Monday 23rd but I didnt go because I wanted the boyfriend to come with me to bolster me. My biggest fibroid was almost the size of a football and the second biggest was the size of a grapefruit. I got lots of rest last week but I still feel tired..I don't understand why. I'm feeling just as awful as I did after the surgery. I thought the tiredness and pain would be gone by now. I have to go back to work tomorrow but my doctor said 6 weeks. I don't want to lose my job. My boyfriend says I'm fine. It's week 3 now. Also,my left lymph gland/groin hurts sometimes. I'm back to feeling the same discomfort as I did after the myomectomy. The scar area is a mixture of numbness and pain. Is this normal ? My sides and back hurt too. I've been using my abdominl muscles to get up, which I didn't do before, (I was using my hands to push up and my boyfriend would help me to get up), so now my abs feel sore. Is that okay ? My doctor had said that if my blood count doesnt go back up to normal I may have to do a blood transfusion. I don't want to do that. I've stopped taking the pain medication Voltaren, because I don't want to get addicted.
View 17 RepliesI am 10 weeks post op and I am getting periods every 2 weeks. Not as heavy as before no flooding it's the frequency that bothers me. Pretty bad period pains as well in my lower back today yesterday it was both sides of my bikini line. Everything else is better I can now walk my dog for an hour without coming home and having to sleep. My energy levels are getting better all the time. My tummy is going down as well ( although the period has made me bloated again) also I am having discharge between each period where I have to wear panty liners.
View 4 RepliesI am nearly 7 weeks post op UFE. The pain I had for a few days has gone. My leg ache has almost gone as well. My periods are strange but better than pre op. Before UFE my periods were every 3 weeks and lasted 10 days. In that 10 days I had 2 days of flooding and 1 day of pain so bad I couldn't leave the house. Now I have had 3 periods in 6 weeks. The first one was heavy no flooding and no pain and lasted 4 days (2 light days) last one was in 2nd March. Heavy and painful for 3days but the pain wasn't in my tummy it was on my bikini line all 3 days. Day 4 was normal flow then it just stopped.
So if I could just get to 3 or 4 weeks between each one I will be happy. So if that continues then my iron levels will improve. All that is left then is the stomach which is going down gradually.
I am a 24 year old female. 5"3 and 15 stone.
For the last 5 years my periods have been very irregular, at one time I didn't have one for 3 months and assumed I had PCOS. I lost weight and all was back to normal. That was 4 years ago but now for the last 4 months I have had light spotting in between periods which then developed into heavier bleeding and now I have been bleeding for the most part of 4 weeks. I have noticed it is usually brought on after Orgasm (non penetrative). It is always bright red, clotty and I would say a Moderate bleed.
I have been with the same partner for 5 years and we always use protection. I had a smear 8 months ago when the spotting initially started and all was normal. What could this be as it is really getting in the way of my life and I am scared of becoming anemic because of this.
I have developed some facial hair and have real trouble with my weight (which I am now trying to lose) so I just assume it is PCOS but I don't associate PCOS with excessive bleeding, especially for a month straight?
I can't get an appointment with my GP for 3 weeks yet so any advice on what this could be would be very much appreciated.
P.S I have never taken birth control, I am not on any prescription medicine.
I had surgery 10 days ago and had my stitches removed yesterday. The nurse wasn't able to get one out but told me that she was going to trim it right down and it would most likely work it's way out. This morning I woke up to find some fluid not blood had been leaking from around the site of the stitch that was still in, it was also white and the wound red and hot, should I see someone about this or is this normal ?
View 8 RepliesI'm 15 days post op. I had heavy bleeding when I left hospital which lasted a few days then stopped. Then yesterday I started bleeding again it's not as heavy as pre op but heavy enough. I wondered if anyone experienced this post op
View 1 RepliesDon't know what has just come over me. I am nearly 8 weeks post . Operation on second tkr and have managed to stop all my pain meds. I got up put some washing out and because it's a lovely sunny day decided to go shopping and then have a sit out in the sun this afternoon. However something just came over me quite unexpectedly and I started to cry. What is happening?
I feel that only the people on here understand exactly what we have gone through and don't feel that I can talk to my family because they think that I am doing so well and now should be back to normal. I wish people on here lived nearby and we could meet up because some days I feel so lonely. I don't give off this impression but I think it's the shock of the operation and trying to get on with things. Anyway must pull myself together and
put on my coping face. Does anyone else feel like this?
I'm 6 weeks post TKR, my extension is 0 & flexion is 148°, returning to work this week, can only sleep when I take Lorazepam at bedtime. Unable to sleep on my side yet, pillow doesn't help, having to drink Tonic water to get the cramps and spasms away at night and having to cover my scar with a telfa pad so I can cover up with a sheet. I have worked very hard and cried with every PT session, last professional PT session was 2 weeks ago,I'm doing them on my own now, twice a day.Off all medications including all over the counter meds.... What else should I expect when I return to work this week???? Would love to stop the sleep medication..

As still having probs with stairs, socks and cutting toenails, was put through a few checks, conclusion was, despite walking and exercises, my bum cheek muscle, for some reason , has collapsed!!
( I did ask him if he was insinuating I had a saggy arse?)
Been referred back to original surgeon, with recommendation of intensive physio. That's me off work now till Jan.
Am questioning whether I should have had this op, more importantly, should I go ahead with left hip, which I've been told, will need replacing in the future!
I am 6 weeks post tkr, I am managing without crutches indoors but still use 1 outdoors.I am walking with quite a pronounced limp, and I am having trouble bending my knee when walking (during excercise my bend is 90) any thoughts anyone ? How long is it likely to take to walk normally ?
View 40 RepliesI am 12 weeks today post op. Was due to go back to work today, but still not had my 6 week check up. Finally going this wednesday. I have lots of questions and concerns, which i am hoping will be answered.
I wanted to ask though, how people felt after 12 weeks? I still suffer with pain, particularly in my back. I am trying not to use my crutch, but walking with with a gaping limp still, which is affecting my knees, which was the same pre op. My right knee crunches and swells as the day goes on. Plus i have a compressed nerve still in my non op side, which keeps me awake most nights. Thought by now i would be getting back to normal and ready for work.
Anyone else still suffering at 12 weeks?
Has anyone suffered with feeling very low 2 weeks after hip op my first hip op I didn't feel tearful but this one has made me feel tearful if I feel like it on Monday I will make appt with Dr.
