I am new to the idea of taking medication for my anxiety. I have suffered from anxiety since my teens but I thought that this is simply part of who I am, and that I could not do anything about it. I have since been in therapy, and I am now starting to consider the idea of medication. I have heard about xanax bars. Are they OK? Do xanax bars have any side effects?

View 1 RepliesI’ve been having anxiety attacks for years now, and during this time I’ve been on several anti depressants - I’m currently on sertraline, but alongside them I’ve been also prescribed Xanax to help better control my anxiety. Since my old psychiatrist retired, I’ve got a new one and she thinks I’ve been on Xanax for too long and is now considering to switch me to Lorazepam.
I’m bit afraid that I might go into withdrawal from Xanax, so I’m wondering would it be OK if I continued to take Xanax for at least a while together with Lorazepam?
as a part of my anxiety treatment I’ve been taking Xanax for a few months now, together with Zoloft. However, despite the night dose of Xanax I’ve been having huge problems with sleeping, specifically with falling asleep. Despite how tired am I or when I take Xanax, I just can’t fall asleep.
Searching online I’ve stumbled upon information about Rozerem that should work precisely to help you fall asleep, and I’m definitely going to talk about this medication at my next psych appointment. What worries me though is - is it safe to use both Xanax and Rozerem at the same time?
I’ve been on Lorazepam for my anxiety attacks for about half a year now and I’m also on fluoxetine. Lorazepam does help to ease my anxiety enough so I can function fairly normally from day to day, but I still do get occasional anxiety and panic attacks where even Lorazepam barely helps.
I’ve been reading a bit about this and came across info that Xanax is more effective than Lorazepam in fighting anxiety attacks, is this true?
I’ve been suffering from insomnia ever since I stopped taking Effexor and all natural ways to help me to get asleep didn’t really help much. I tried taking melatonin supplement, running and exercising and even herbal tea as a sleep remedy, but none of them really helped since I’m still managing to sleep only few hours before dawn.
Now i’m thinking to see my doctor to prescribe me some sleep aid and I was wondering what are your experiences with Valium and Xanax - which one works better as a sleep aid?
I’ve been under a lot of emotional stress lately and this reflected mostly on my sleep patterns. So far I’ve tried using melatonin supplement before bedtime, but I can’t say it’s working since I’m still awake almost until dawn. My physician recommended I try this first, before medications like lorazepam or Xanax, but I can’t go on like this anymore and I’ll just have to try some of these meds.
From your experiences, which one of these, Lorazepam or Xanax is more effective in treating insomnia? Or is there some third option that is more effective than either of these?
My concern is I have been on Xanax for about four years. I only take .025 one pill a day. Can I have side effects if I go cold turkey? I have no more pills, so I a little worried.
View 1 RepliesI currently take 30mg of adderall xr every day and was put on strattera, which i took for about 18 days. On april 9th i had an episode of really bad vertigo where i stood up and the room started spinning and then i got really nauseous, light headed, started sweating a lot, and my pulse dropped about 30 bpm. I have thyroiditis and my pulse is typically between 95 and 105 and during this it dropped down to about 66 but started to go back up after about half an hour. and an hour later i was fine and felt great the rest of the week.then this past sunday the 17th i had another episode of vertigo with the same symptoms. I ended up going to the ER to get checked out because my pulse was not going up at all after about 45 minutes. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get in to see someone at the ER and by that time i was starting to feel better. They told me the vertigo episodes could be caused by the strattera so my psychiatrist took me off of it on monday. Since sunday/monday i have felt completely exhausted emotionally and physically, and i had been having some chest pains. I went to the nurse practitioner at my doctor's office and she told me that it is probably all related to my thyroid. She did an EKG that looked normal, of course when i wasn't having any chest pains. Has anyone else had similar symptoms or experiences with strattera?? I felt so much better when I was on the strattera than I do now, and it really was helping me a lot.Any suggestions I should bring up with my doctor or psychiatrist?
View 2 RepliesI'm an Indian, male, 21 years. I was diagnosed with essential hypertension four years back. It stays around 130/90 with a few occasional spikes to highs of 140/100 in winter. My weight is 58 kg and height is 5'6". My LDL & triglyceride was a little high then, but with change in diet, it has come down to normal values (TC-179, HDL- 60, LDL- 97, VLDL- 22, Triglyceride- 100). My blood sugar level is normal(last checked a year back). However, my doctor thinks its time to put me on antihypertensives for preventive future damage after my next checkup if my BP stays at same level.
I am a little concerned about side effects of these drugs I read about. Do I really need to be on medicines?
P.S I have a family history of hypertension from young age( mother's side of family). However, there is no reported cases of heart disease and most of them lived over ages of 70.
Has anyone ever had the Anti D injection that is required if you are a rhesus negative blood group? If so did any of you note any side effects?

View 3 RepliesI've had panic/anxiety attacks on and off for 2 years now which makes me very scared about taking anything. But my wife and I want to have another child and the last few months I cant seem to keep an erection through intercourse. I'm not in the best of shape which I am sure is a cause of this and I know I should see a doctor about it but I hate doctors and very embarrassed to talk about it. I found a guy on craigslist selling Cialis 20mg and bought some. I'm nervous taking them so trying to do some research on whether they may cause me some more panic/anxiety attacks. We have a sitter tonight and i'd really like to satisfy my wife as well as myself. I am guessing i'll try breaking one in half and see how I feel.
View 1 RepliesI have been on lisinopril for a few months and I also have anxiety and panic attacks which was controlled with Valium but since I started lisinopril within a few days my anxiety came back along with the cough headache and now it's tearing up my stomach. I also get lightheaded and feel off balance.

I had been prescribed proletarian for anxiety 10 mg to take as and when I need to take them.This was about four weeks ago I leveled out at 3-4 tablets a day.. It took me two weeks for the symptoms and side effects to go and it was truly horrible getting there. After the side effects did settle ( although not entirely) on week three my doctor advised me to try to take them as and when I need to as I had gotten used to taking them at routine times of the day and not when the anxiety was present . I left the doctors surgery and didn't take another for a full week. I felt cured, perfect in fact for a full week. it seemed the doctor was right I was taking tablets for anxiety I didn't have.I had the best week ever No anxiety, no side effects. Completely me again. On the 7th day I woke feeling anxious, all my symptoms back again,unable to function. I took a 10 mg tablet and the whole list of side effects returned as strong as they were in the very beginning. Horrible. That was Monday.Monday was so bad. anxiety AND terrible side effects from the tablets.Tuesday I had anxiety in the morning but couldn't take a tablet as I still had the same horrible buzzing head from the day before, the anxiety eased off late afternoon, and today this morning the same.Horrid anxiety. I would like advice from people who take this as and when please, as right now I am feeling like my choice is either severe anxiety or horrendous side effects taking the tablets.
View 3 RepliesThe story started when I noticed a tremor in my hand fingers (both hinds) as it starts from my wrist bone. I went to a nervous specialist and then he offered me the seroxat knowing that I didn't had any kind of anxiety at that time, where I had before this visit by half year. This visit began 6 months ago. I have started, as per his instructions, to get table and a half per day for the first 6 days then 1 tablet till 3 months. Suddenly, I stooped to use it and I know that was my bad. I returned to the dr, he said that we will start over. then, I started to feel that this medicine is not resulting well anymore. I started to stop it as per his instruction by taking half a tab for 5 days then half a tab every day after day. The last dose was on last Thursday. Now, we have passed 2 full days (Friday and Saturday). Today, I am feeling very and very bad. I had all of its side effects, I had a nausea, lack of appetite and DIZZINESS.. What do you suggest?
He said that I have to return to half a tab day after day and visit him on Wednesday. I am not planning to go to that dr any more thus I am here. I have read some forums of dropping it in the right way. Do you suggest taking a quarter tab day after day again? or to deal with the above side effects and finish up the day, tomorrow or what?
I asked my doc for trazodone today for my insomnia, he gave me a script for ten zopiclone instead, he said trazodone was not a good drug for depression, and that lexapro ( he has me on 30 mg ) is a far superior drug, I pointed out to him that I have been on 30 mg for over a year and while my depression is very manageable, my insomnia and anxiety have not improved and that in my opinion anxiety has always been my primary issue. I take inderal 80 mg daily for anxiety , which just makes it bearable. Has anyone on any different combination of drugs for anxiety insomnia and depression that they find works. Yes I know we're all different ! I have been on sooo many antidepressants, and I can't honestly recommend any of them.
