Cardiac Arrhythmias :: Palpitations And Fast Heart Rate On Exertion

Apr 22, 2016

I have some strange feelings and etc for around 6 months. I don't have any panic attacks or anxiety from long time ago, but something is wrong with me. For example in morning I stand up from bed and my heart rate goes to around 130 or when i climb up stairs ( around 20 of them) i get heart rate around 170 per min. That's not normal I know, but I have had heart ECG, heart ULTRASOUND,blood tests and etc and everything is fine. But on left side of chest I have pressure, feels like some organ is swollen or I don't know, maybe lung is pressed or something. I had also lungs x-ray but it came out fine. When heart is beating fast, i feel pain in my upper chest like in my airways, and when my heart calms down i have sore upper chest. 1 month ago i got maybe palpitations but not sure if it's palpitations, happens most when im standing. I get fast squeeze in left chest like my left lung is squeezed, but in this second my heart stops beating and then starts after 1sec beat fast and again slowly. I really dont know what to do, because im sure i dont have anxiety or panic. I was on xanax, citalopram, lexotanil for long time and nothing helped me for that. P.S My left leg is always cold, mostly when im laying down. Sometimes i get vibrating sound in my left chest and i don't know what is this. Mostly im scared if its my heart or what... Doctors said im okay, but i still feel not normal and without full access to live my life.. I had also brain scans, neck x ray and all is fine. All tests I had everything is normal. What do you think I should check? Please don't write about psychology problems, because its not this and im sure its not in my head.

Cardiac Arrhythmias :: Palpitations Due To Anxiety?

I'll get straight to the point. I have been suffering from Vestibular Neuritis for almost a year, to summarise it, its an inner ear problem which affects your balance and can take years for the brain to compensate for it.

It has multiple side effects, the most common and most problematic one being anxiety. At the start I had too many panic attacks, I couldn't even leave my room. However, by doing things like yoga, meditation etc. I managed to recover a LOT in terms of ANXIETY. Medication didn't help and as my anxiety got under control along with my brain compensating for the lack of balance, I started to feel better, but all symptoms were still there 24/7 to a lesser degree.

One month ago, I relapsed. I assure you, I did nothing different and have no idea why everything came back. As you can imagine my anxiety sky rocketed again. It took me about 2 weeks for the dizziness to calm down as brain compensated for it again. However my anxiety seemed to be there, I tried yoga etc. again (as it was so successful last time) but it did nothing. I have also noticed for the past 2-3 weeks, my bowels have been very irritated- without going into too much detail, I will just say that the frequency of my toilet visits per day shot up. I assumed (and still assume this was anxiety related) so I continued yoga etc. with not much improvement. I changed my diet to eat only bland, simple food...still not much luck.

My latest problem, and this is the one I need MOST help with. Three days ago, as I was trying to sleep, I started getting palpitations which really scared me- I have never had them before. NOTE: I had EKG, ECHO, Holter done 6 months ago and all was normal, so my heart was fine then and is fine now as I had another holter done last week - HOWEVER this time around it was clear that I had ectopic beats but the doctor said this was normal.. This has really made me feel anxious especially because I never had this symptom last year when my anxiety was at a peak.

Yesterday, the palpitations got really bad, I had to take a 4 hour ferry and then drive 4 hours. iI had a fairly greasy burger on the ferry and about 90 minutes later I started feeling ill and had palpitations again. This was the most scared I have been, I felt the urge to go to the toilet a lot and everytime I went, I felt like I was going to faint. My 4 hour drive later was scary too, I almost stopped at a B&B because I kept getting palpitations. The palpitations I had yesterday was different to the ones I've had for the last 10 days...instead of a 'thud' at the end, I had a sense of radiation warm sensation from my chest to my stomach which was really scary and moments of a feeling where you feel like youve lost consciousness for a split second before being 'shocked' into reality.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you think its anxiety related?- If yes, why has it started to happen all of a sudden?

Or do you think this is something to do with GERD? I seem to burping more and feel more 'wind' and also seem to want to go to the toilet more.

I also feel dizzy because I'm eating less because I get scared to eat any amount as the palpitations are triggered!

Standing / Exertion :: Rise In Blood Pressure And Heart Rate?

Does anyone experience a rise in blood pressure and heart rate when they stand up or do slight exertion?  Also, my heart pounds up into my throat, neck and ears and get extra beats in my heart. I am also very sensitive to adrenaline.  Even the smallest things can get my heart pounding.   Doctors can't figure it out and there solution is to keep me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol extended release)  They have doubled my dose now from 25ml. once a day to 50ml. once a day.  I just want to find out why it's happening.   It was suggested to me that it possibly could be some form of dysautonomia.  I would appreciate any advice I can get.

Asthma :: Fast Heart Rate

I am 24 years old, 82kg and been stressing about my health for the past month.

I first experienced a very fast heart rate from a short 2 min jog up the road were i had to stop and wait for my heart rate to slow down.
now since then my stamina has gradually gone right down to the point were I am unable to go up two flights of stairs without my heart racing and feeling out of breath. bearing in mind at rest I only experience a tight chest no shortness of breath.

To rule out heart problems I recently had a Echo-cardiogram,ECG,holter test and a chest x-ray. I was told all my valves were fine, my arteries were not blocked and my ecg came back abnormal but it was not serious. (all these tests were done in the past 3 weeks)

Now as I had my consultation with an expert they noticed I was wheezing and I explained to her every single day my chest feels sore and tight. even now as i type laying on my bed. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was a child but I seemed to grow out of it, however back in 2006 I had similar feeling to what I have experiencing now which is tight chest pains, shortness of breath. but I cant remember my heart jumping really high from exertion of walking up the stairs.

so now I am going to visit my asthma clinic on thursday to see what they say, suggest etc.

So my question is could these symptoms of tight chest and short breath be linked to my fast heart rate?

Heart Palpitations And Rapid Rate

Anyone who suffers anxiety knows what heart palpitations feel like. About 2 months ago, I was having them non-stop for days went to ER. They could see them on the monitor but said EKG looked okay and blood tests were normal. I still get them almost daily. They are scary and incredibly annoying, but I just try and cope with them. Well anyways, today I got to work and right after doing shift change, the phone rang and I needed to go assist a resident up on third floor. I don't like the elevator we have so i walked up the stairs. By the time I got up there I was so short of breath I could barely talk. And my heart rate was 144 and I could feel and literally see my heart beating. After sitting down and resting for about 5 minutes the pounding just stopped. I still have the palpitations though. The shortness of breath I am wondering if it is even related. I am 5months pregnant and I know that with my uterus expanding it can cause that. but something like this has never happened before. Last year I went to a cardiologist who did and EKG told me I had a sinus arrhythmia which is not serious and sent me on my way. I have smoked for a bout 7 years now, sometimes heavy others not so much. I have stress on a daily basis, and I do consume probably too much caffeine. I am 21 and otherwise in good health. Major anxiety though. Anyone have this happen before and turned out fine? I don't mean to sound like a hypo but I have two daughters already and it scares me to death to wonder where they would end up if anything were to happen to me.

Birth Control :: Fast Heart Rate After Taking Cerazette Mini Pill

I took Cerazette for 9 days, felt so ill i came straight off it. Anxiety attacks, racing heart, was off work for 8 weeks it was a nightmare. its now 3 months on, my periods are getting somewhat back to normal, but i've been left with a fast heart rate. I've been rushed to A&E a few times its been so fast i thought i was having a heart attack. i'm now on beta blockers to keep it under control until it's investigated. its ok sat down, but if i try and walk or do anything it goes through the roof.

I've heard of other women that have had this but i'm desperate to find out whether it will eventually go back to normal on it's own or has it left me with long term issues.

Adrenal Disorders :: Low Blood Pressure With High Cortisol And Fast Heart Rate

I had my AM cortisol tested and it came out high. I did the blood test while fasting about 1 hour after I woke up.

My AM cortisol: 33.7 (normal range 6.2-19.4)

Could the high cortisol be the cause of my symptoms:fast heart rate (gets worse with exertion), sweating, and 15 pound weight loss, trouble sleeping?

I was researching it online and my symptoms seem to fit more with those with low cortisol than high cortisol. I've been to 5 doctors and went to the ER once because I've been feeling so terrible the past 4 months. My AM cortisol is the first thing to come out abnormal. All thyroid, liver, etc. tests come out perfectly within the normal range.

Cardiovascular ::22 - Palpitations And High Blood Pressure And Heart Rate

have been suffering from palpitations every now and then for the past few years but they have been getting a lot worse recently to the point where if I walk up one set of stairs my heart goes berserk and I have to catch my breath once I get to the top. And sometimes just randomly it will feel like it's pounding so hard and fast and nothing I can do to calm it down just wait. I suffer high blood pressure and take medicine. I'm 22 years old. Healthy I'm not overweight. My doctor recently said for me to get a 24 hour heart monitor which I did yesterday and no waiting on the results. Has anyone else had similar symptoms to mine? Or does anyone know what it could be besides anxiety cause I know what anxiety feels like and this is different. It's like my heart just goes crazy sometimes! I'm anxious about the results! If anything was bad they would contact me within a couple of days of receiving the heart monitor right? They say wait up to a week but if urgent will be sooner.

Cardiac Arrhythmias :: Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy - Extreme Tachycardia

I've got idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. I have Afib with this and keep getting extreme tachycardia which means I have to go to hospital to get it controlled. I have asthma too. I'm in Europe and have good doctors - I was in hospital Saturday night into Sunday - I called my doctor as my heart was beating so fast and irregularly, and it was having long intervals of no beats - I have a stethoscope and could hear nothing at the apex and I've been taught how to auscultate, and I was very very breathless. She was very worried and sent me to hospital. After being stabilised, I saw a a cardiologist who did loads of tests and said my heart was very much more dilated than before. On discharge I've been given 02 to breathe if I feel breathless.

Heart :: PVCs And PACs Upon Exertion

Just looking for some advice on next steps here. I'm 46 (male) and have had intermittent PVC / PAC for probably 10 years. They have always been infrequent and pretty mild truthfully. Once in a while if I'm stressed, have had too much to drink, or had a big meal close to bed, I'll have a more prolonged and severe episode, usually when trying to sleep. Many of you have probably been in the same situation - rolling around in bed to try and get into a position where you can't feel the pounding and fluttering as much.

Anyways, I'm reasonably fit, not overweight, and have no other conditions (AFAIK). I usually have one cup of Half-Caf coffee in the morning and that's it. I don't drink soft drinks or have a lot of sugar or anything. I HAVE had panic attacks in the past, but have learned to control them pretty well, just through breathing exercises and getting myself to relax. Exercise had always helped too, though I'm not on a "regular" exercise program.

My father had a bad case of Afib, which was solved by an ablation. My identical twin brother has had Afib episodes as well, with a couple being severe enough that he needed to be "shocked" back into rhythm. There is some history of heart disease in my family with 3 grandparents dying (eventually) from stroke, and the other had a moderate heart attack in his 60s (but lived to 93).

From a lifestyle perspective, in my younger years up until probably 35 I was reasonably active but ate a pretty poor diet - tons of dairy, red meat, etc. Typical bad American diet. Despite this diet, I was never really overweight much (blessed with a fast metabolism), and my cholesterol readouts have always been borderline, though in recent years they've improved as I've improved my diet.

3 weeks ago I started to notice PVC and PAC whenever I would exert myself - we're talking walking up 1 flight of stairs, walking quickly to rush to a meeting, taking the dog for a walk. Yesterday a pretty strong one came on while I was carrying something heavy for a home depot return. I had a strong one while carrying it (but just one), then another small one a few minutes after I had put it down. Likewise, I usually will get one or two AFTER I have reached the top of the stairs and starting walking a little bit. I've noticed they seem to be worse if I've recently eaten a meal.

I went to see my PCP who did a resting EKG that was normal, normal BP, resting pulse 65-70 or so. You can predict the response - you're fine and they're benign. Cutout caffeine, exercise more, relax, etc. He did offer up additional tests if I wanted and so I did a 24 hour holter monitor, thyroid blood test, and stress test (just ekg and bp, no echo or thalidomide). The holter showed occasional PVC and PAC. The day I had the stress test was a "good" day - I didn't feel any PVC or PAC while I was on the treadmill (of course!) but the cardiologist did say he saw a few.

Even though I know that what the docs are telling is very likely to be true, my problem now is that I just don't FEEL right. I had gotten used to the occasional PVC and PAC and they were never a problem, even if I had 1 or two DURING exercise. Now they seem to be brought on by exertion and I just can't help but think about the cause being some underlying coronary artery condition, even though my PCP and the cardiologist tell me they're benign. Even though these seem to be brought on by exertion, my fitness level is BETTER than it's been in a while and when I do "power through" the PVC and PAC that I get when I commence exercise, I actually feel pretty good - 30 minutes on the treadmill at fast walk / incline and I'm not even breathing that hard. 6 weeks ago I hiked for 2 days at 11,000 feet, mostly going up and while it was hard, I did it and felt pretty good. I had a few PVC and PAC during that trip, but not many. It's only been the last 3 weeks or so when they happen consistently upon exertion.

I've read online that PVC/PAC CAN be brought on by exercise but I've also read that PVC/PAC with exercise can be a sign of an underlying heart condition such as coronary artery disease. At this point every time I walk up the stairs I'm afraid of what might happen and I'm afraid to do any real exercise. I would really like to have another test done to check for any sign of blockages and so on but I'm not sure what to do since the docs are telling me I'm fine and I should just live with it. I'm just concerned because of family history, lifestyle, and the fact that these come on when I exert myself (it also doesn't help my state of mind that 1 friend and 1 colleague at work are of similar age and had heart attacks recently). Anyone out there experience anything similar?

Heart Disease :: High Blood Pressure / Slow Heart Rate

I have a heart rate most of the time from 42 to 50 BPM , my blood pressure is usually 145 to 160 over 75 to 80.  My cardiologist has me taking  75 mg, of Lopressor, 360 mg, of verapamil, .4 mg nitroglycerin  patch. And now he wants to add 10 mg of Ramipril ( Altace ) a day, my recent cardiograms have have shown sinus bradycardia. That's before starting the Ramipril , I'm just very leary about starting the Ramipril in first of all the highest dose there is, and second of all it could further lower my heart rate and send my heart into an AV Block that could lead to many things not good !

Anxiety :: Heart Palpitations

So I just got back from a ER a few hours ago. Why? Well I'll tell you. About 3 days ago or so I started getting heart palpitations while laying down after I took my Seroquel to get ready to sleep. They would last about a half hour to a hour and 15 or 20 so palpitations I would eventually fall asleep. I thought nothing of it but then it happened again the next night and the next ect. I started developing panic attacks cause I was concerned that I had a heart problem or something was wrong. I couldn't tell if my anxiety was causing the palpitations or the palpitations developing the anxiety ugh. So tonight I started getting them and they just wouldn't stop and then I went into full panic mode. I thought oh god im gonna have a heart attack I know it. So I begged my dad to take me to the ER and they assessed me and my vitals were about 60-70 BPM when I got there and then they took some blood and I got a EEG or EKG? Not sure I've never had one before but it was the one with the cords they put on your chest, legs, sides and it literally takes 10 seconds and it came out perfect and so did the blood work. The doctor said because of the propanol that I take which calms the heart down during a panic attack that I'm having "extra beats"  because of the calm when I take my propanol. I asked him why this came on all of a sudden and he doesn't know it just happens. He said they're usually benign but to make a appointment with my GP to get a heart monitor to wear for a week just as a safety precaution. I asked him what causes this and he said caffeine, sugar, smoking ect. I asked him what about not eating and drinking enough because I haven't been doing much due to my IBS being pretty bad recently. He said that could be it as well but to still follow up with my doctor. I'm still scared cause im still having them (well I had 1 since I got home) i keep constantly checking my pulse and worrying when the next one will come that it's making my anxiety sky rocket. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm still afraid even though I was told it was ok. My anxiety brain is saying that the tests were wrong and they missed something ect. Ugh I hate anxiety. It seems like it's one thing after another. Id love to hear what you guys think of this. Thanks.
