Coil In Vessel To Cauterize Bleeding From Ruptured Spleen

Jun 22, 2015

I was hit by a drunk driver November 2013 on my motorcycle. I had a lot of injuries. My spleen ruptured (shattered) but they left it in. I have a lot of memory loss till this day and some things I wasn't aware of. Long story short I went to the chiropractor 6-19-15 and I got chest X-rays done and the doctor noticed a metal like wire in my body which I was unaware of. Come to find out I had a metal coil placed in my vessel to help cauterize the bleeding from the spleen. My question is that no one can seem to answer for me is, should that coil of been removed or is it in me permanently? I've been told yes and no...

Contraception :: Copper Coil - Bleeding Due To Period Or Coil?

I had the copper coil fitted on 27/4/16. That went well, took a little while to insert because apparently I have a titled uterus lol (I've had two children) not much pain afterwards was just a little light headed. Didn't really bleed was more very very little spitting which stopped after about 3 days.

Last Friday I started bleeding wasn't too sure if it's my actual period or bleeding like expected since having it fitted, I'm still bleeding to this day. Is this normal? Could this be my period or bleeding due to the coil? It seems a little heavier than usual & defiantly lasting longer my periods usually last around 4/5 days.

Mononucleosis :: How Would I Know If My Spleen Ruptured?

I am a 30 year old female who was diagnosed with mono April 19, 2014. It has been quite the challenge caring for my 7 month old and having to take time from work. I never had the fever, although I have the other fun mono symptoms such as discomfort in shoulder blades and under ribs from liver and spleen. I have visited both my physician and GI doctor and they can not feel any swelling which is good. I am 6 weeks into the disease and feel pretty good. I am happy to report my bloodwork came back normal yesterday. Last night, my 7 month old kicked me in the back (upper left side of my shoulder) while sleeping next to me. My anxiety alarm went off. I am not in pain, however I am feeling a light discomfort in the side and back of ribs. Of course I'm freaking out and thinking something is wrong with my spleen....anxiety can do terrible things to the brain...so maybe its all in my head? Someone told me you would need a blow to the abdomen in order to rupture the spleen and not to worry. How would I know if my spleen ruptured?

Mirena Coil - Suddenly Having Crazy Hormones And Bleeding

I've had the mirena coil for just under 2 years. After the initial bleeding my periods more or less stopped I just had the odd light period every few months or so. However, the last 2 month my hormones have been all over the show. Some things are TMI to say on here but I had a light period for about 3 days and then 2 weeks later I came on again and it's now day 9 or 10 of bleeding, it is only light but my boobs have been sore for weeks and there's no signs of it stopping. My coil is still in place so no worries about it being dislodged. I was just wondering if anyone else had been fine with the mirena and then suddenly having crazy hormones and bleeding etc.

Spleen :: Enlarged Spleen - 15cm Normal CBC

i had my annual physical exam month ago. CBC was normal, but on ultrasound my spleen appeared enlarged, approx. 15cm. Month later my spleen was still enlarged, 14cm. I did a CBC + LDH blood test again. Again everything appeared normal on CBC and LDH was 200 (it said that under 330 it was OK). Doc told me not to worry but to have a new ultrasound and CBC (+LDH) in 6 months. I really do not feel like waiting that long. Sometimes during the day I feel extremely tired and sleepy. Any suggestions what to do next other than waiting for 6 months.

Spleen Hemangiomas, How To Reduce The Size Of My Spleen?

Why is there NO RESEARCH being done on Spleen Hemangiomas? Are doctors making more money by just removing them and then dealing with the poor health thereafter? I want to know how to reduce the size of my spleen that is full of large hemangiomas. Anyone know anything about this. I also have them in my liver.

Blood Vessel :: Drug-induced Thrombocytopenia?

My general/gastrointestinal surgeon request a complete blood test as a pre-surgery exam in order to perform a fundoplication, to solve a gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that I've had for three years. My condition is not responding to high-dose proton pump inhibitors, diet or lifestyle changes, because I have a hypotensive lower esophageal sphincter and my esophagus peristaltic rhythm is lower than normal.

I've been taking 80 mg (2x40 mg) of esomeprazole + 20 mg (2x10 mg) of domperidone daily for about a month, and during the day before the blood exam, 900 mg (3x300 mg) of ibuprofen in 8 hours interval, as I was having a muscle pain on thighs due to heavy exercise on weekend without warming up properly. The pain has since completely gone.

I did the blood exam yesterday, on Tuesday at 8:30 (I took the last pill of ibuprofen on Monday at 22:30), and receive the results today. I explained to the nurse who drew my blood that I took these medicines. My platelet count was low (thrombocytopenia), and I suspect due to either the PPI drug or ibuprofen.

As you might know, the platelets are essential in blood coagulation process after a an injury (such as a surgery), which is something the surgeon needs to be sure that I don't have coagulation problems and will have a hemorrhage during the procedure.

The normal platelet value is between 150,000 and 450,000, but in my result was 143,000. The Platelet Distribution Index was 72,7%, when the normal values should be between 25 to 65% according to the parameters in the result. Mean Platelet Volume is 10,1 fL (femtoliter), which is within the normal range (7,2-11,1) fL. Every other coagulation parameter is normal, along with HDL, triglycerides (in optimal or normal range), etc.

All my previous blood tests resulted in normal values of platelets amount, but I wasn't taking any medication when I underwent the complete blood test. I read the package inserts for esomeprazole and ibuprofen (or any other NSAID), and thrombocytopenia was among the possible adverse effects. I think that the ibuprofen is the main culprit, I only took it because I had a major muscle pain (due to extreme fatigue) that really hurt, but I didn't know it could interfere with the platelet production. As I said, I told the nurse i took these medicines.

I don't know if the surgeon will think that I have some blood or vascular disease (which I don't believe, as all my previous blood exams were normal and I don't have any symptoms) and will not do the procedure on me. Should I ask him for a 2nd blood test to see if platelets levels will get back to normal? Or he will take the fact that I've been taking 3 medicines into account? and consider this a pretty much normal or expected result?

Blood Vessel :: Exjade For Iron Hemochromatosis

I have not long found out that I have hemochromatosis (iron overload) as well as hepatitis C (very stable with normal LFT). My venesection attempts were unsuccessful due to small veins, so I was put on Rx Exjade 14 days ago to chelate the excess iron. It gives me liver and kidney pains - its side effects involve liver and kidney issues and possible failure of. I have just got the results of my liver function and was very surprised had all my liver enzymes have risen significantly in such a short time. I have ceased taking Exjade as of today. Is there any other less invasive chelate?

Ruptured Ovarian Cysts :: Unbearable Pain

I am 40 years old & I had a hysterectomy in 2011, I only had one ovary removed. Since 2013, I've had several occasions when I've had to go to the er because I had unbearable pain due to ruptured cysts on my remaining ovary, the pain I deal with is horrible to say the least & each time I was just sent home with pain meds. Has anyone else gone through this after having only 1 ovary removed? & should I consider having the remaining ovary removed?

Ovarian Cyst :: Laparoscopy And Ruptured Removal?

I have been very ill and in a lot of pain since August, going backwards and forwards to my doctors, even got admitted to hospital in August with suspected appendicitis but got sent home.

However last weekend I got rushed into hospital with awful sharp pains in my right side of pelvis and ended up having a laparoscopy where they found a cyst that had ruptured and leaked fluid all around my ovary so they had to cut me lower down to clean it all out and remove the sack! I was in hospital for 2 nights being sick and in pain.

I came home last Tuesday night and have had horrific shoulder pain from the gas and I can't manage to walk more than a couple of mins without getting shooting pains where I've been cut and being exhausted after.

I've been signed off work for 2 weeks, I'm a nursery nurse so a lot of lifting, sitting on the floor and getting up and down is involved! I'm worried I won't be better by next week and will need more time off, how long was you off work for with this or similar procedure? Any tips to speed up my recovery?

Ruptured Cyst Or What? The Pain Only Lasted An Hour

Last night my boyfriend and I had intercourse and all of the sudden I had a horrible pain overcome my lower abdomen and pelvic area. At the same time, I had very sharp shooting pains to my rectum. It was literally unbearable and I was almost in tears. I've had a similar pain in the past and I went to the hospital. They diagnosed it as a ruptured ovarian cyst. The only difference this time is that the pain only lasted for a little while (about an hour). Last time it lasted for at least two days. Last night after the pain ended I had trouble breathing and a very fast heart rate.

Ruptured Ovarian Cyst :: Bloating And Loss Of Appetite

I'm 48 years old, and had a ruptured ovarian cyst two and half weeks ago. CT scan shows I have two more cysts ... One each side. They are only small, 2cms right and 3/4cms left. My Consultant says I should have another scan in four months to monitor them. There are some questions over whether I'm menopausal or not. My GP says I am and blood tests have convinced her but my Consultant is a little hesitant and says it's hard to be sure. (No periods but have more a coil).

My concern at the moment is the bloating and loss of appetite, feeling full after little food, and constipation. My Consultant says that she will refer me to Gastro Doc incase it's IBS which has thrown me into confusion. From what I've read, these symptoms are typical and I guess I want some reassurance from people with similar experiences. And any advice on how long the bloating will last for -
