Whenever I inflate my mouth as you would do so when blowing into something to fill it with air I feel like something below my ear and towards the back of my jaw is filling with air, I have never felt this before and afterward that spot continues to feel weird. It also sounds as if some pocket is filling up with air. Could you tell me what this is and if I should see someone about it?

The dentist said I would need to have my cavity filled (left upper side, 4th tooth from the 2 front teeth), then come back in 3-4 months to get a "cap" in it? Can someone explain this to me? He said the cavity is touching the nerve, as well. Is this a root canal?
View 1 RepliesHas anyone ever had difficulty with gum healing following dental anesthesia with the 'wand'? Since it's so localized, the shots are many and they take a while. Twice out of several fillings over the past years this has happened to me, and last night the gum bled so much that I wondered how I will ever get it to heal. It was 8 days later and still very sore between the teeth, it looks better but still feels very raw.
Also my dentist acts as if he's never heard of anyone having this happen. I'm wondering if there's anything I can get from the drug store to soothe it and allow it to heal more quickly. That 'wand' is amazing for what it does but I'm not sure these after-effects are worth avoiding a few hours of a numb face!
I'm going to give it another week to hopefully heal before I call him back. I doubt there's much he can do anyway - it doesn't seem infected, just very beaten up.
I just had a filling put into one of my front teeth and the next week the filling broke off I would like to give you more information about what happened. '' I went to my dentist last week to get a filling filled and when he got done he asked if I would like to see it, I did and I told him that it looked and felt rough and looked slightly yellow, he assured me that this would go away in a day or so, that was last Friday, this Wednesday it still looked yellow and rough and a piece broke off, I called my dentist and asked if there was anything he could do and he said that he could re-drill it out and replace it for 200 to 300 dollars''. I just wanted to know if this was normal or if I should try to find a new dentist?

The pain is now away but on the side of my mouth when i was given the numbing injection or where the filling is, i can taste like a chemical taste, i have brushed my teeth 4 times today and also used mouthwash twice and taste is still there! Anyone ever had this or know any suggestions what it could be? I would call the dentist but being 18.43pm they are closed.
View 3 RepliesHi, I had an upper right tooth filling 2 days ago and since yesterday, I've had occasional pain on that side but in the jaw or at least the lower gums. Wondering if I should be concerned or if this is simply referred pain.
View 1 RepliesI had a wisdom tooth - bottom left - extracted about 7 weeks ago which was slow to heal. It had been impacting on the tooth next to it which I had filled a week ago - now I have sensitivity to hot and cold ( not pressure though) and it my jaw is achy. Could all of the drilling etc have irritated the nerve and already weakened jaw bone (bone had to be removed to extract wisdom tooth) or is there something else going on? Filling was not that deep and was filled too high but that was ground down 2 days after filling.

Is there a difference between a temporary filling and a permanent filling? My aunt said that her temporary filling lasted for more than three years without root canal. Can the temporary filling last or be replaced by a permanent filling instead of having a root canal ?
