I had a filling on 4/11/15. The pain is now away but on the side of my mouth when i was given the numbing injection or where the filling is, i can taste like a chemical taste, i have brushed my teeth 4 times today and also used mouthwash twice and taste is still there! Anyone ever had this or know any suggestions what it could be? I would call the dentist but being 18.43pm they are closed.

The dentist said I would need to have my cavity filled (left upper side, 4th tooth from the 2 front teeth), then come back in 3-4 months to get a "cap" in it? Can someone explain this to me? He said the cavity is touching the nerve, as well. Is this a root canal?
View 1 RepliesHas anyone ever had difficulty with gum healing following dental anesthesia with the 'wand'? Since it's so localized, the shots are many and they take a while. Twice out of several fillings over the past years this has happened to me, and last night the gum bled so much that I wondered how I will ever get it to heal. It was 8 days later and still very sore between the teeth, it looks better but still feels very raw.
Also my dentist acts as if he's never heard of anyone having this happen. I'm wondering if there's anything I can get from the drug store to soothe it and allow it to heal more quickly. That 'wand' is amazing for what it does but I'm not sure these after-effects are worth avoiding a few hours of a numb face!
I'm going to give it another week to hopefully heal before I call him back. I doubt there's much he can do anyway - it doesn't seem infected, just very beaten up.
I just had a filling put into one of my front teeth and the next week the filling broke off I would like to give you more information about what happened. '' I went to my dentist last week to get a filling filled and when he got done he asked if I would like to see it, I did and I told him that it looked and felt rough and looked slightly yellow, he assured me that this would go away in a day or so, that was last Friday, this Wednesday it still looked yellow and rough and a piece broke off, I called my dentist and asked if there was anything he could do and he said that he could re-drill it out and replace it for 200 to 300 dollars''. I just wanted to know if this was normal or if I should try to find a new dentist?

Is there a difference between a temporary filling and a permanent filling? My aunt said that her temporary filling lasted for more than three years without root canal. Can the temporary filling last or be replaced by a permanent filling instead of having a root canal ?
I am 17 weeks this is my 2nd child my little girl is 5 years old but with her it was basically the perfect pregnancy. No morning sickness or anything. But this time around I've had this nasty taste in my mouth that won't go away unless I am eating or drinking something and then it comes right back. Have any of you experienced this and if so what did you do or take?
View 9 RepliesApprox 6 months ago I developed a nasty salty taste in my mouth which seems to emanate from my tongue, I think, I have been to the dentist, no problems there, I have been to the doctor, had blood tests to eliminate anything more sinister, bloods came back fine so what is causing this. I did read somewhere that when going through the menopause, which I am, can cause a lot of things to change in your body, could this be one of them. Also I was told that it could be a sign of not enough Zinc in my system. I would love to hear from anyone else who may have encountered this problem. It doesn't make me feel ill so I do feel a bit of a fraud but it is the most irritating sensation and at its worse it is a real stinging sensation on my tongue.
View 12 RepliesI have been taking clarithromycin for pneumonia along with amoxicillin. the worst side effect i have experienced is the chemical taste in my mouth which has taken away my appetite and makes me nauseous. the only thing that masks it for a while is brushing my teeth, but my advice to anyone using these pills is to get rid of any air fresheners and take measures such as using roll on deodorant instead of a spray as this seems to aggravate it. i have just been given yet another course of these because my pneumonia has returned but to be honest i'd rather put up with the taste than end up in hospital again!

Just wondered if its the tablets or just a coincidence.
I should preface this with the fact that I've had my braces on for close to half a year and I just started having this problem a few days ago. My braces create an meme sting metallic taste in my mouth. It has been nonstop since around three days ago. I made an appointment today to see my orthodontist and I was told that no bands were loose (most of the bad taste, as much as I can tell, comes from the metal brackets that are banded around my teeth) and nothing was found.
I got some mints but the relief is only temporary to the metal taste.
If any of you suffer from BAM? and if you do do you get a dreadful taste before a bad attack of D? I know that when that taste comes I can't go anywhere except to the nearest toilet.
View 7 RepliesI have been taking naproxen now for over a year and recently found that ,it's this tablet making me have profound hot sweats though the night ,that much ,that i have to change my bedding and nightwear, also i've found ,that when i wake in the morning ,i have a nasty foul salty taste in my mouth ,i will only have to carry on taking them for another 3 weeks as my specialist is putting me on methotrexate, I have also heard a lot about this tablet too ,risks to the liver and kidneys, and other things that are very scary.
View 1 RepliesI was given lansoprazole due to a suspected stomach ulcer. I started taking it but was unable to continue to take the lansoprazole as it gave me a worse pain in my stomach than I already had and also a dry throat and mouth. I have now been diagnosed with h.pylori and started with triple therapy - esomeprazole (nexium)/amoxicillin/clarithromycin. The nexium isn't causing any stomach pain but is making my throat and mouth very dry and given me a sore throat and I am also suffering from a very unpleasant metallic taste in my mouth constantly. I went to the doctors again today and was given omeprazole to take instead but now I don't want to take it because I don't feel it will make much difference. Has anyone else had these side effects from the PPI and are there any alternatives I can take to inhibit the acid enough to let the antibiotics do their job?

Having had a Lamb curry the night before i thought it was this, however, as the day progressed, I found that everything I had to eat had an aftertaste of manure and made me feel sick. My throat is sore to one side and I feel generall unwell. Yes I have been to the doctor who I thought would give me antibiotics but he just said , you have a temperature, swollen glands, he could not see a throat infection and said it was a virus and I should get better within about 10 days. He sent me to have some blood tests which are due back tomorrow. I do feel generally unwell which is not like me at all.
View 1 RepliesI can eat the smallest thing and get an acid taste in my mouth. The taste can stay in my mouth for hours. Does this mean that acid is continually fluxing into my esophagus while I have the acid taste?? I never feel acid in my esophagus or throat, just this acidy taste in my mouth. I worry that acid is fluxing for so many continual hours, if that is what is happening. I had the acid taste WORSE when I was on PPIs, so it doesn't make sense that it would be nonstop acid fluxing into my mouth, but I don't know. I am not seeing a gastroenterologist until October ...
View 4 RepliesI have had what feels like my mouth has been scalded, aching roots of my teeth, blisters in my mouth, swollen gums, swollen tongue, taste buds swollen. Gums split. Some days teeth shift from the swelling on my gums. Have swollen salivary glands under chin each side of throat. Talking worsens it considerably. I have had no diagnosis yet! I have had this for 9 months. It is so painful it consumes me. Sleeping causes this to go away. Upon waking I feel normal. I put off talking, eating or drinking until as late as 2:00 pm. Then the cycle begins all over again. I've tried, so many home remedies. Seen an Oral Surgeon who believes this is Systemic. Just waiting for blood results to come back on being tested for Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis as my elbow and knee joints have almost crippled me. My knees are swollen.
