Hemorrhoids :: Avoiding Solid Foods - 8 Rubber Band Ligations And Fissurectomy

Feb 12, 2014

I have a crazy idea to starve myself of solid food, or food entirely, for a period of time to see if my body can heal itself from internal hemorrhoids. I have had hemorrhoids for three years and they've gotten much worse this past year. I can remember a couple times when I didn't have a BM for a few days and remember feeling normal again.

A bit of background, I am willing to try anything to get back to feeling better. I have had a colonoscopy, five rubber band ligations for a total of eight rubber bands and a fissurectomy/ LIS. I eat 100% my daily value of fiber spread throughout every meal, have a BM twice a day, and have 3-6 sitz baths/ showers a day. I have tried every home-remedy or lifestyle change. Soreness and itching are my primary symptoms, with no blood. Doctors say I have only minor internal hemorrhoids (hemorrhoidectomy not recommended) but the symptoms are persistent and have caused me a significantly lower quality of life. What else is there to try? Would avoiding BM's give the body time to heal or just temporarily make me feel better?

Hemorrhoids :: When A Rubber Band Ligation Is Recommended?

After having sporadic bright red blood in my poop last year, I went to the doctor in late Oct/early Nov. They took a look inside, saw I had a hemorrhoid. I took some vasculera for a couple weeks, started taking fiber daily, drinking water, etc. But every 2-3 months since, the bleeding returns (usually after I've had a stretch where I went 24+ hours without pooping). There is the occasional mild burning back there, but nothing severe. At what point is the rubber band ligation recommended?

Hemorrhoids :: Hemorrhoidectomy, Rubber Band Ligation And Other Solutions

I'Ve had hemorrhoids my whole life, i'm 35 and overweight and not active.  I sit for hours on the toilet and usually only eat meat.  I have fast tracked surgery and am now terrified to get it done.  My piles have since become a normal part of my life, but every once in awhile ill have flare ups when i eat something i KNOW my bowels don't like, like pork fat or beef fat or if foods were cooked or defrosted improperly, like rotting meat etc.  AFter every flarup i usually go through what i ate and i can pinpoint what it is by buying what it is and trying to only eat that product for the day to see how my bowels react.    My question is that should I get this surgery done to remove my internal and external piles?  I have heard that people lose the ability to control it and my own parents have both had hemorrhoidectomies, and my father has had leakage ever since that surgery.  Needless to say hemorrhoids run in my family.  I want to be able to eat whatever foods and enjoy my life.  I hate having to live in fear of food and how it totally screws my life up for work and play.  I just want to live a normal life like all the normal people who eat whatever they want and don't get hemorrhoids.  I realise that even when I get the surgery I still cannot eat anything that will cause my bowels to flare up because it will just cause more "new" hemorrhoids to flare up?  Proper diet, exercise etc will make sure that I never get them again, but should I get the surgery done?  I have had rubber banding done and I had a real bad flareup after it so I booked surgery instead of spending a year of rubber banding my anus.  My uncle told my mom that he had the rubber banding done and still had to have surgery because they can come back after the rubber banding!  My doctor said that it could take more than 1 surgery to remove them all and I'm terrified at having to have one surgery let alone 2?  I'm at a place right now in my life where I can cope and live with it, and live with the flare ups, but i keep wondering that if there is hope i can live a normal life without hemorrhoids, should i take that chance?  Please I need help from fellow sufferers of this affliction, or medical professionals.  I tried to talk to my surgeon and he wants to continue rubberbanding and then discuss surgery.  I then went to see him again to talk about surgery and that I had heard that they can come back even after banding and that I want them removed and never to come back again, and he then said that he can do the surgery and scheduled my hemoroidectomy in 2 weeks.  Should i just continue with RBL(rubber band ligation) although painful flareups for two weeks happen afterwards?  Should I just keep my surgery appointment and get them cutout and then deal with whatever consequences?  Im scared reading about people getting fistula's or puss and bleeding and other complications from surgery which turn their lives into a living hell.  living with hemoroids seems much better than having your *** swell up so huge and be constantly painful and having to have more surgeries or procedures to cut and drain the puss from absess's or fistula's that are a result of surgery.

Undiagnosed :: Abdominal And Back Pain After Eating Solid Foods

I'm getting a little desperate here. For the last four days every time I attempt to eat solid food within 20 minutes I get extremely severe pain that begins behind the lower section of my rib cage on the left side of my body. The pain continues to increase and within minutes all of the muscles in my mid back start cramping. The symptoms continue for anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours. When they ease, I'm left feeling nauseated and my back feels bruised from the cramping. I can drink liquids without any adverse effect as long as I drink them slowly, but even minimal attempts at solid food cause problems. For instance, I was able to have a bowl of tomato soup eaten slowly over the course of an hour without having problems, and I was able to eat a bowl of chicken broth very slowly without triggering any pain. However, when I attempted to eat a bowl of cream of chicken soup with small chicken chunks in it, I got the pain and back cramps. Even something as simple as a piece of bread or a few bites of saltine crackers is enough to trigger the pain. The doctors have no clue what's wrong. One of them even tried to say it was gas. Umm, no, it's not gas. And I don't think it's an ulcer. I've been on Prilosec for years for GERD, and the pain doesn't feel like it's actually in my stomach. It feels higher and more to the left than where my stomach is. Has anyone else had to deal with anything like this?

Hemorrhoid Rubber Band Ligation (Barron's Ligation) Experience

I had two internal hemorrhoids banded yesterday in a painless procedure and painless aftermath. At the Thornhill Endoscopy here in Toronto, they performed a thorough examination by sigmoidoscopy first, to determine that there are no other issues. They then proceeded to band my hemorrhoids. Sedation was offered and which I took - felt awesome as I drifted into a sleep. When I awoke a few minutes later I asked if I was banded and the nurse said yes. I then asked if my rectum was frozen or something and they said no. I couldn't feel the bands. The only sensation is a mild bit (VERY MILD) of fullness - which is what I felt before with the hemorrhoids. I was worried before going in that I could be in a lot of pain, but that is totally not the case - NO PAIN. And they told me that no further banding is needed at this time and that what they did should do the trick.

Their recommendation is no lifting for 2-3 weeks. No bike riding for the same time. To take their over-the-counter prescription of stool softeners for 15 days. DO NOT bear down. Eat a high fiber diet. Otherwise get back to life. And today is day 2 - went shopping, walking and feel totally great. Again, the only sensation is a little tiny bit of fullness, which is normal considering the hemorrhoid has been bandied which makes it swell, until it falls off.
The important thing for me is to ensure that I don't bear down and create a new hemorrhoid, especially over the next couple of weeks.

Weight Loss :: Anti-Estrogenic Diet And Foods?

I have to say that I never had any health issues or weight problems. I was always good looking. I remember when I gave birth to my second child, nobody couldn’t believe that I was so good looking. I don’t know what happened, but I started to eat everything. I mean, I do know. I went through divorce, and I was so depressed. I was eating everything. I was not disciplined in the food anymore. I was dreaming about pizza.
So, to stop this madness, I started to follow antiestrogenic food two weeks ago. Can you tell me, what are the best anti – estrogenic foods that you need to eat if you follow Anti – estrogenic diet?

Hidradenitis Suppurativa Is Body's Response To Allergic Foods - My Experience

I have been suffering with HS for over 23 years. They first started out as red bumps in the vaginal area. After repeated infections my doctor surgically removed the tissue. That didn't work. The lesions started appearing in the same location but on the opposite side. My physician didn't know what these bumps were and in 2009 he sent me to a dermatologist. She took one look and told me instantly that I had hidradenitis suppurativa. I was in shock. I read up on everything I could find. I was put on doxycycline for the next 4 years and was miserable. The anti-biotic would cause me to have yeast problems and subsequently I was put on diflucan to deal with the yeast. It was a never ending problem. Now my red bumps were rupturing and weeping. This was new for me.

I went online to read as much as I could about HS. I read medical information and blogs. It was highly informative. There was a commonality of humiliation and pain, depression and the desire to feel normal. One entry caught my attention. It was about a woman who had suffered from HS and finally went to a Naturopath. He gave her two food sensitivity tests,an IgE and an IeE. She found out what foods she was allergic to and immediately removed them from her diet. She is now HS free.

I couldn't afford to go see a Naturopath and so I decided to start on a diet of protein (chicken) and salad (basic lettuce, cucumbers with olive oil and vinegar), vegetables such as green beans, squash, carrots, english peas, broccoli, cauliflower. I removed eggs, dairy, gluten which is in bread and a myriad of foods which include flour. I also removed Nightshade veggies and fruits.

Once I was stable ...which took about a week, I added eggs. I had no flares. That food was safe. I then added dairy products, again no flares. I added beef and fish with no problems. I was anxious about adding flour/gluten back into my diet as I was sure that this was the food group that I was sensitive to. However, after introducing gluten back into my diet there were no flares. That left me with only one group to test and that was the Nightshade veggies and fruits. This group includes: white potatoes, tomatoes, peppers including paprika (not white or black pepper), gooseberries and goji berries. These foods have alkaloids in them to fight off bugs. Interesting?

So, I added foods from this group into my diet and ....I FLARED!! I finally had the information that I needed. I immediately went through my pantry and removed any and everything with red pepper, tomatoes, and paprika. Paprika is everywhere. It is in hot dogs, mayonnaise, mustard and seasonings. If you eat processed foods...beware as it is in everything. I learned to read all the labels of everything at the grocery store and even double check it once it was in my pantry.

I am in remission and I intend to stay there. My lesions are flat. All that exists are scars and I can live with that.

I am certain that HS is the body's response to a food that the body is allergic to. It is not due to "not being clean enough" or due to being overweight. It will only respond to antibiotics for a short term and then those fail to work. Topicals don't work either. I do believe that once HS comes into your life, it takes over everything that you love. I was a victim to this disease for too many years. I have now, taken back my life. You can change your diet and be free. I recommend that if you decide to find out what foods you may be allergic to in order to be free from this disease that you consider incorporating these supplements: turmeric (wonderful anti-inflammatory), zinc, vitamin c, a probiotic, and green tea for itching It is a natural anti-histamine.

Can A Spermatocele Appear As A Solid Mass

Last week I found a lump in the scrotum, a trip to the ultrasound department came back with a "extratesticular mass 1cm x 1,2cm x 1.2cm, likely to arise from the tail of the epididymis" "The lesion shows slight peripheral vascularity on color doppler" testis and everything else was normal

So I was then referred to a urologist, who said it was best to have it removed and analyzed. So I had it removed yesterday and saw the urologist again today. He told me that he had sent it off to be tested, but felt confident it was a Spermatocele, he even listed it on the discharge sheet as the final diagnosis as a Spermatocele.

But when I read up on Spermatocele, it says it's a fluid filled cyst, so surely it would not have shown as a solid mass on the ultrasound? So I was wondering if it was possible for a Spermatocele to appear as a solid mass on an ultrasound. I will get the results next week either way, but would interested to know if it's likely to be what he said?

Right Ovarian Solid Mass 5 Cm

Just was told via ultrasound that I had a fairly large solid mass by my right ovary.  I was told endometrioma but that I would need to get it removed. CA 125 came in at only 9 so I feel better by that.  I am 46 premenopausal so not sure the accuracy of the CA125 results.  Are all endometriomas benign?  I have not had endometriosis so not sure why this happened? I had seen doctors in past YEAR for digestive and colon issues that came in clear and I take Tylenol a lot for leg and back aches.  I also saw a dermatologist for hair growth and acne.  Were any of these side effects for endometriomas? Ovarian cancer?  For any of you ladies?

Digestive Disorders :: Burpy Solid Tummy

I usually have a slow ish bowel movement transit time but it's never caused any dramas. (Every 3 days). Always soft.

Last week I seemed to have a lot of wind and go every day. 4 days ago I felt really sleepy and bloated. Since then I have felt off, slightly nauseous, gassy, burpy and my stomach feels bloated yet solid. I also don't have much appetite. Throw up a tiny bit in my mouth twice. No pain just don't feel right!! I keep expecting a bowel movement to clear whatever the issue is but it doesn't seem to.

Should I be worried.. should I just wait this out? Is it trapped wind or a backlog of something i ate that taking ages to digest. Am going to start taking Inner Health Plus tomorrow. Does twisting torso to left unwind the colon?

Ovarian Cancer :: Solid Mass On Ovary

47 with what looks like a solid mass on my right ovary. Have been seen by a reputable gynecologist who doesn't think it is cancer. 2.9 cm. Took a the CA 125 test all normal. At first he thought it was a hemorrhagic cyst but, it has not changed size and has been there for close to 3 months.

No septations, no blood flow. He think it could be a fibroma but, not sure.

Going for an MRI. Worried. No history of any cancer on any side of my family. None of any kind.

Have been going through menopause for a few years. Periods are changing and some heavier than others. Been skipping off an on for a few years.

Cyst, mass is ovoid in shape.

Any ideas? So worried. But hopeful it is nothing. Hoping to avoid surgery.
