Herbal Medicines To Cure Depression?

Nov 12, 2013

I've been taking anti depression meds for years. now, and none of them have been helping. All they've accomplished to do is cause some bad side effects. I've heard that there are certain type of herbs that can help with many of the same issues as anti depression meds. One of them I've been reading up on and taking is rhodiola root extract. It's supposed to be good for depression, anxiety, among others. What I want to know is if anyone of you ever use any type of herbs? If so can you get away with using just one type of herb to do its work, or do you have to combine it or is it a must that you combine it with other herbs? I hope I can get some feedback from someone that's actually using it by experience. I've learned throughout the yrs. that they are the only ones that can give you a straight answer.

Erectile Dysfunction :: Herbal Medicines Will Help?

My husband is suffering from erectile dysfunction. We saw a sexologist. He has prescribed expensive herbal medicines. Is it curable?

Erectile Dysfunction, Finasteride, Lack Of Libido, Herbal Remedies, L-arginine

After medical review of this for the past 5 years.

---- To rule out cardiovascular disease, for ED is known to be a precursor.

---- Tests showing normal testosterone levels

After my husband's decline in interest intimately for three years preceding that five years.

After venomous denial regarding that the ED was the result of

---- Aging issues, medication (finasteride & HBP meds)

And much emotional hardship, as my husband wanted to truly believe his libido loss was due to one or all of the following:

---- Falling out of love

---- Being in a monogamous relationship

---- Something which his spouse did or didn't do, that he could not quite put his finger on.

Currently, spouse is considering going off finasteride (as a dr suggested) and trying natural remedies for enlarged prostate which includes:

---- Eventually stopping Finasteride (He has to be the one to stop)

---- Taking the following supplements:

Saw Palmetto Extract, Pygeum Extract, Nettles, Pumpkin Seed, Lycopene, zinc

I've just started him on zinc, Pumpkin seed & Lycopene, and will add the Saw Palmetto, Pygeum & Nettle combo soon.

I also plan to put him on L-Arginine which is suppose to assist with erections.

I have scanned the internet and do not see interaction of any of the above sups with that medication, and am tempted to put him on those for a month prior to him consenting to wean off of the Finasteride.

Does this seem a wise course of action, and have any of you gentlemen been on that medication while taking such herbal sups & vites?

Furthermore, have any of you run into other combinations that helped?

My spouse gives up easily, and I want this trial that he has consented to, to have the greatest chance of success possible.

What opened the door to this consenting to try was an 8 year support and sensual support without any demand or expectation from him. I didn't want to shut the door completely on intimacy, so despite insults and hostility, I stayed sensual, supportive and calm.... as I watched out for his physical and emotional health. I Provided massage, tantric touch which included prostate massage, encouragement and the occasional reminder that his erection could still work (when he let me to provide that). **** Ladies, if you can't get his ok, the massage will make him less guarded and then you may have access to provide that sexual release and confirmation he can still orgasm... Massage is great like that.

It's been a very long 8 years. Maybe other people have clearer vision at this point than myself, for I am in an emotional healing recover myself at this point as I continue to offer him support.

Insomnia :: Standard Medicines Have Failed?

I have a complex dx including:ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, CAD, ICD implant, renal failure, epilepsy, diabetes, neuropathy and c-spine injury.I am 38. I am med compliant and see all of my specialists and PCP regularly. After my first MI at age 27 I developed insomnia. We did sleep studies and tried many medications. Eventually we found Seroquel to work. I started at 100 mg PRN and was up to 300 mg PRN @HS. I slept well. Actually had to crawl to bed to pass out. I feel I am addicted to this drug. I am down to 25mg at night which gives me 3 hours of sleep. With my medical dx sleep is important but I also believe taking less medication with less side effects is equally important. Seroquel has cardiac and neurological side effects. My team agrees it is time to stop the Seroquel but we have no strategy. How can I wean off from this medication and still sleep?

Foot / Ankle :: Pain Medicines After Tarsal Tunnel Release

I just had tarsal tunnel release yesterday and am wondering what others took for pain. My doctor asked me what I generally take and I told him NORCO. I've taken it for years, sparingly, for back pain and am wondering if I've built up a tolerance as it's not working too well right now.

He was so generous to give my husband his cell number since it's the holidays so we could call him if needed but I don't want to seem like a wimp.

I have addison's disease and pain is not good for me at all.

My doctor doesn't seem very concerned only advising low carbs, exercise and losing a few lbs.

As I have been studying the subject lately I have read that the condition may be caused by  pancreas isn’t producing enough insulin, or I might be insulin resistant.   Are there tests that could be done to actually identify the cause, and that may help to help better  my problem.

Can Cranberry Juice Cure UTI?

Recently, questions like can the UTI be cured by cranberry juice or can cranberry juice cure UTI were posted on the internet and searched by netizen constantly. But can the UTI be cured by the cranberry juice?

Cranberry is a small sour red berry that grows on a small bush and is used in cooking. So the cranberry juice is a juice of the sour red berry. But In 2010 a study conducted by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts showed that the ingredients in cranberry juice named condensed tannins limit the ability of E. coli bacteria to cling to other bacteria.

However, the study conducted in Massachusetts also showed that without other bacteria, E. coli's ability to grow and reproduce is limited. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is cranberry juice helps prevent UTI but cannot cure the UTI.

Since the cranberry juice can only prevent the UTIs for people, how to cure the UTI if one gets this condition? One herbal medicine named diuretic and anti-inflammatory pill is highly recommended.
