Second Pregnancy :: Preeclampsia Again?

I had preeclampsia with my last baby (born June 3, 2014) and I'm about 7 weeks pregnant. I'm terrified of getting it again. I was diagnosed with it at 35 weeks. I delivered my son and he was in the NICU for 8 days. I've read that if it was severe and early there is more of a risk, but if it was later and less severe there's a 20% rate of recurrence. I gained 50 pounds with my first. I have been trying to eat better since I found out. I ate like crap the first time. I also didn't take prenatal a because iron made me sick but I'm going to try this time. I'm just so terrified of having it again and getting another bad Doctor. Is there any mom who has had it with their first & been okay with the second? Just to give me a tad bit of excitement rather than creeping fear.

Pregnancy :: Preeclampsia Chances For Second Pregnancy?

I had extreme preeclampsia with my daughter 6 years ago, so I took precaution on this pregnancy. I was watching my diet and trying to take it easy. But yet it seems the condition had not eluded me. I thought it wouldn't be quite so scary this time, since I knew more about it, but I was wrong. I'm not sure if it is because it was caught so much earlier since we were watching for it, I'm only 31 1/2 weeks, or what. Today I did the 24 hr urine test and tomorrow we'll get the results and then we go from there. Other than the preeclampsia, baby and I are doing great, which is why I'm hoping for the best tomorrow.

Pregnancy :: Preeclampsia Signs? High Blood Pressure And Urine Protein?

I'm 30w&3d pregnant. At my last appointment 2 weeks ago, I was told I had high/elevated blood pressure & at my appointment today It was the same, but a little higher than last time. I also had a trace of protein in my urine. I'm worried I'm going to have preeclampsia and was wondering if any other moms had these signs and everything ended up being okay or if they had preeclampsia...

Pregnancy :: Anyone With Water Birth Experience?

I'll be 22 weeks tomorrow and I don't know what to expect when it comes to labor besides pain. Lol I'm a ftm & I really want to try to go natural..I know I'm probably just saying that now because I've never experienced such pain, but the way I think of it is...our bodies are meant for labor if women back then could do it without medication why can't I.? The only way I'll do it natural if it's a water birth. I read into it and like what I've read so far. Any mother's out there experienced  water births or just go natural period ?? I would love to hear your experience. Or any mother's looking into it.?

Women :: Preeclampsia Related To Perthes Disease?

I had Perthes disease diagnosed aged 8, it was pretty bad and to cut a long story short I had a total hip replacement aged 19 (ten years ago!).

Since then things on the hip front have been good

I fell pregnant with my first child when I was 25, and sadly my pregnancy was badly affected by pre-eclampsia, resulting in my son being born at 30 weeks (he's fine now).

I've been doing some research about both Perthes and Pre-eclampsia, separately, and come across some articles that suggest both could be caused by blood clotting probs (thrombophilia/factor V Leiden etc.).

I just wondered if any ladies who suffered with Perthes as a child had any incidence of preeclampsia during pregnancy or pregnancy-induced-hypertension?

ENT :: Day 1 Experience After Stapedectomy

After the usual IV insertion, walking to OR and walking up rather groggy, I must say the first few hours were strange. Having limited hearing in my right for the past 7 years ( and getting worse) I decided to go for the operation.

My mouth and throat were very dry (11am operation with no food or drink in 12 hours) and deep breathing was challenging. I was encouraged to take deep breaths to clear anything from my lungs. My OP ear was full of cotton and gauze so hearing from that side was nada. My good ear was very amplified like I had a microphone inside my mouth, I would scratch my head and it was LOUD. I was discharged after I could stand without aid and at home crashing on the couch.

I had a protein shake and a bowl of hot soup and felt very stable with no dizzy spells or balance issues, but still the amplification inside my head. I had ringing tones on my OP ear on and off but no pain. If I plugged my good ear I could hear nothing but the ringing.

Five hours now and I feel good but I can hear everything around me, the talking , the tv, things very far away are very clear. My dog barked right beside me and I nearly jumped off my chair, scared me. It was loud. I used to watch tv on 65 volume now it's at 40 volume.
