View 14 RepliesIt was the worst tonight that it has been in a while; I needed to crank the car 3 times to get it to start; mind you when it runs, it runs great.
With a bit of research, this is looking like a fuel pump/check valve problem. I have a 2010 Hyundai Accent GS, would this mean I need to replace the fuel pump assembly?
If this is the case, I want to do a beta swap over the summer. If this works out, should I upgrade the fuel pump/does the fuel pump need to be upgraded? and if so, would the upgraded pump cause other issues?
I have been having this issue randomly, sometimes it won't occur for days and other times it happens in a short period. I will place my key in the ignition, and everything will chime correctly, and when I turn over my engine, it sounds like the engine catches then it just stalls. The things I have changed so far is,
battery ( needed to be changed anyways)
spark plugs ( was set to be changed)
air filter
cabin air filter ( no relevant but still...)
oil
At first I thought it could be bad gas, since I fill up sometimes at safeways etc, but in my tank right now is 91 octane shell, I thought it could be spark plugs since I was a little over due so I changed them, and the issue never popped up for 2 more weeks, then it came back.
if I use my car starter it seems to start better, but it is maybe 1 out of 10 times it will just crank continuously without catching or anything.
I can hear my fuel pump whirl when the key is turned but not started, I checked the oil today and it is full and a light color, maybe 500 km on this oil change.

I have an automatic 2006 GLS Accent that is having a few problems. The engine will crank, but doesn't turn over right away. It might take a few tries, but will always start. This happens intermittently. Sometimes it will do it first thing in the morning, or sometimes it will happen later in the day after several start ups.
It has recently starting stalling while coming to a stop or sitting idle at a traffic light. This is also an intermittent problem. Always starts back up after a few tries.
The check engine light is not on. I have not taken it to a mechanic yet since it doesn't always do it, and will most likely be tricky to diagnose. What the problem might be? I was thinking it might be a crankshaft sensor?
I Have a sonata 2007 2.4L automatic and I just had a start problem today. I turned the start key and nothing no crank, all the light in the dashboard are ok, i can hear the fuel pump and my batery is fine. I tried 5 time to start it and nothing I wait 10 minutes and the car started ..

Woke up yesterday car wouldn't start. Engine would try and crank but no ignition. Came home for lunch tried it again, no luck. Let it crank 2 or 3 times about 30 sec. each no luck. Then all of a sudden it started right up. Shut it off and started right up again. Did this 5 or 6 times, it started right up each time.
After work I came home, tried to start it. No luck. Pumped the gas a couple of times let it crank for a while. Nothing. Then after a couple of tries, it started. Went to Autozone had the battery and charging system checked, all good. Put some gas in it and came home. All this time it started right up each time.
Later that night about 4 hours later I went to try it and no go. After about 5 minutes of repeatedly trying it came on eventually.
This morning I went out, pumped the gas twice and it started right up. Shut it off and started again about 5 times in a row. It seemed to run a little rough. Just slight shake that seems like miss or something.
What could be the problem. No check engine light. Fuel system, ignition system, some sensor??
I've Sonata 2006 and it's just fine no problems at all, until this problem comes. When I start the car the engine crank but not start, RMPs is jumping to 4 then into 0.. I checked fuel pump, battery and sparks all are good.
View 4 RepliesDrove the car yesterday all was fine. Came home and shut it off. Went to start it about an hour later and the ignition key will not turn. Tried a second key and still no luck. Disconnected the battery and waited for about 10 mins. Reconnected battery still no luck. Wiggled steering wheel and shifter (automatic) still no luck.
View 16 RepliesMy 2007 Accent will not start. It doesn't turn over. All it does is beep when I turn the key. It is a long high pitched beep, followed by three sets of two shorter beeps. The engine doesn't turn over at all. The dome light works, as does the radio and dash lights, so I don't think the battery is dead.
I'm wondering if its a starter problem, but the beeping must be some kind of error message, right?
I was working on trailer lights and now no trailer lights and relays click but eng no crank. Batt has 12volts.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Passat 2.0t Sedan. My wife broke the front engine mount this morning and now it will crank, but will not start. Put my code reader on it and it is throwing camshaft position sensor, misfire cyl. 4, fuel rail pressure low, and Mass Air Flow sensor codes. It looks like the insert of the mount is wedged against the belt. Would the engine mount being broken cause any of these codes for some reason? and would the mount against the belt cause it to not start?
View 6 Replies 2007 Accent GLS. I have oil in the intake going towards the engine. I know a bit of a mist is normal but mine drips once I remove the intake. I changed the PCV valve but its still there. Intake filter was also changed and I got an oil change. The car also feels like it staggers once I take my foot off the gas.
Also after driving on the highway for about an hour the car wants to stall if I go above 100km/h but its fine below 100km/h.
I have new spark plugs, got the fuel system cleaned at the Stealer, changed the coils, new air intake filter.
Fuel Pump and Fuel Pump Relay replaced after 115,000 miles. On occasion, engine will turn over but not crank ... wait 10 minutes and the engine will start. No security light (passlock) or engine trouble codes displayed or recorded. Once the engine starts, it runs smoothly and normally. Problem of starting did not occur until the fuel pump and relay were replaced.
View 4 RepliesMy Accent recently died in traffic. All of the electronic components seem to be working. The engine cranks but does not turn over. I removed the spark plugs and they were soaked in gasoline and the plugs on the 1st and 2nd cylinder had a black residue. I dried them off and tried to start the car again, no luck. The spark plugs were soaked in gas.
Over the summer (5 months ago) 2 ignition coils fouled out and I replaced them along with all of the spark plugs.
I noticed that my car rattles (the engine) when is warm, if the engine is cold by the morning nothing happens, is just after the engine is warm (working condition) some people say gas quality but I use Premium and always the same station, the rattle is after switch gears, just for one or two seconds (sounds like click! click! click!)
Could be that the cylinder head is blown? Oil "Quaker State High Millage" was change 3000 kilometers ago, sparks plugs brand new NGK Iridium IX at the same time...

2007 Accent Hatchback. Put gas in it from an Exxon we have bought from before with no problems. My kids car, running on vapors, put 1/2 tank of gas in. Pulled out of gas station and car starts running really rough, shaking. Still running though. I have gathered some knowledge from other threads, like timing belt needs to be changed (65000 on car). I replaced the plugs as an initial attempt at correcting the problem. Runs better, not great. Saw a thread with changing to better gas, will try that.
View 11 RepliesMy mechanic noticed an engine vibration when he was installing my new brake pads and rotors. He noticed the vibration when putting it in reverse. He then checked the engine and mounts. He then asked about the timing belt. I told him the belt was changed at 62,000 miles. The Accent currently has 76,000. He thinks that the belt may have jumped or a counter balancer is not working right. I do not know if the 2007 has a counter balancer. Any diagram of the timing belt, pulleys and counter balance (if it has one). It is a 2007 GLS with auto trans.

The Code its giving me for it is P0446, ( Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit) Is what it is saying. I also notice when I put fuel in my car it does not want to start unless i turn the key over a few times or pump the gas pedal..? What to replace for this code?

View 5 RepliesChanged timing belt after several teeth being stripped. Engine runs but won't idle without foot on gas pedal. Drives smooth as long above 2000 rpm. Thinking there is one or more slightly bent valves. Quadruple checked timing marks. Coils are good. Fuel injectors are good. Spark plugs are new NGK's. DTC's are 0300, 0301, 0302, 0303, 0304 - misfiring.
Have a line on a low mileage head with warranty. 2007 Accent 1.6L?
On cold start ups only I can hear a tapping sound coming from the engine. It's a consistent sound that goes away after the engine warms up and idles down. Could it be the belts? I'm not concerned to be honest because the engine runs fine.
NOTE: I have also noticed that when cold in between shifts the vehicle seems to hesitate, almost as if trying to catch up. Hard to explain, but it only happens when the engine is cold.
