Started a few months ago didn't really bother me until now. Started when I would forget the parking brake is on and would just put the car in reverse & wouldn't move until I released the parking brake. Did it about 5-7 times and now every time I brake without the parking brake on, it squeaks & is really annoying. Is there any way to fix this or is it just gonna be complicated & expensive?

Purchased this car used with 64k miles on it. I am in the process of performing the 60k miles service items and going through typical replacement of worn parts.
I have noticed that my rear passenger brake drum assembly squeaks when I let off the brake pedal. Note that this is not noise when applying brake pressue, but after releasing the brakes. Additionally, the drum happens to be rusted very badly. It took a good amount of brute force to remove the drum in order to inspect the brake assembly. There was a lot of brake dust built up and I thought that cleaning that out would get rid of the noise.
I suspect it could be one of the springs but I cannot be for certain. The squeak does not occur when I release the parking brake.
I had 2 brake related issues. First was a honking noise when pressing/releasing the brake pedal (covered by T-SB-0363-10, attached below). Second was rear brake squeaks, particularly when backing up (T-SB-0102-11, attached below). I had the squeak issue repaired under a previous TSB a few years ago, but the noise came back after a while, and the updated TSB includes replacing the pads and other parts.
View 8 RepliesThe squeak is most pronounced when the brake pedal is released, but it still makes a quieter squeak when the pedal is depressed. I can't tell which side it is coming from; my guess is the middle of the rear or the left rear. I can't tell because I have to be in the car to release the brake (I guess I could tie a string around a brick and pull on it when I'm by the rear wheels). I should mention that all three of the belts are due for a change. Which part is causing the brake system squeak? The brakes work; replacing the squeaking part or parts is going to be lower on the project queue than the CD player/radio errors and replacing the belts, pulleys, etc. in the engine compartment (I've posted elsewhere on the forums about those issues).
View 5 RepliesOn releasing the clutch pedal, a creaking noise can be heard, which:
- sounds and feels like a rusty spring being unloaded
- occurs for the entire range of pedal travel, but worse near the bottom
- is louder outside the car than inside
- happens not only when driving, but also when stationary with the engine off
I don't think anything is wrong with the clutch itself, or any bearings, or major components... It just feels like something needs to be lubed. I've lubed the spring above the pedal inside the car, with no real effect.
I have a 2005 Murano, 96K.
In Aug 2011, I had the rear disc brakes/rotors replaced. Front ones were replaced in Feb of this year.
For the past month, whenever I release the brake, I hear squealing (no sound when I press the brake to stop). Last about 5 secs, or until I hit about 15-20 MPH. Seems to happen only after the brakes heat up. I've tried to "Google" the answer, but the answers are mostly for drum brakes.
I get a clunk noise when stepping on and releasing the brakes occasionally but not always. This occurs even with the engine off and the vehicle stationary. I also hear some other noise like some sort of vacuum servo thing is happening.

They told me I needed to replace front brake pads, so I did that. Immediately after they finished I noticed what I would describe as a clack or clank sound when pressing or releasing the brake pedal.
This sound was not there before. I went back inside and told them, the tech came out and listened and said it would probably go away. I took the car back in a couple weeks later and they applied some type of lube which didn't work. The service rep said that the only way to remove sound was to replace some type of pin.
Just noticed this the other day, when depressing my GF's 2011 Accent's brake pedal it made a low hissing sound, it would go away when you took your foot off the pedal, you would never hear this with the radio on, but it was enough to make me think it could be a concern.
Drove the car and it didn't affect the brake permormance, but the longer this goes, I can't imagine this being a good thing.
Car is 3 years old, and has 80-20 city/hwy driving under it.
I'm getting this checked today most likely as it's been happening for months now. No issues with vibration and stopping is fine. As a matter of fact brakes are excellent. However when I'm stopped at a light or whatnot and I depress the brake pedal there's a pulsation that occurs almost every time. It's fairly constant and only happens when I'm at a stop not when I'm stopping so I know it's not a warped rotor. What it might be?

Where else i can look. Everything seems working. Reverse light is fine. Is that related to latest brake light switch recall? Cant think of anything else.
View 4 Replies80km on my accent, the brake pedal was getting softer and brake fluid was a bit low as normal due to brake pads were worn up over time. Brake pads were never changed. I thought changing the pads would change the softness of the brake pedal. I changed the brake pads, left and right, the brake fluid in the reservoir went up as normal but I drove around but the softness of the brake pedal did not change. I still had a little less than half size on the old pads. I need to press the pedal a bit much to feel the brakes. I am wondering maybe the brake pedal was always like that when I bought the car.

View 2 RepliesMy brake pedal is making a creaking noise when depressed and can also be heard when letting off the pedal. The noise is not coming from the brakes themselves (front/back are like new) but the pedal area or somewhere behind it. This noise doesn't start until I've driven the car for a little while. The brakes work fine for the most part but sometimes feel a bit spongy if making a sudden or hard stop. The fluid levels are fine.
I'm taking it in on Friday and hoping that the brakes just need to be bled a little or maybe the pedal just needs lube, but I'm worried it might be the booster or master cylinder---if it is one of these?
2013 accent auto My car rolls noticeably after parking unless the ground is completely flat. Parking brakes prevents it from rolling but I don't use parking brakes every time. Another brake problem I have is thump or clunk noise I get whenever I release a brake from stop.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2015 IS250 F Sport with brakes that squeak. First time dealer said can't replicate and suggested hard braking to burn off any residue on rotors. Second time, dealer replace rear brake calipers which resulted in mix match colors of the brake caliper and bracket. Not happy.
Well it's starting to squeak again. Not sure if moisture and or cold has anything to do with it. Washed the car yesterday and as I was moving it down the driveway (small incline) the brakes squeaked as soon as I released the brake pedal. I was able to replicate this several times yesterday.
This morning brakes squeaked as soon as I released the brake pedal. Not on an incline driveway today.
A few days ago, while on a road trip from CA to CO, I noticed a loud squeak from the engine compartment every time I pushed the brake pedal, no matter how lightly, no matter what speed. It even happened when the car was off. I have almost 60K miles on my '05.
When I arrived in Denver, I dropped the car off at a Toyota dealer for troubleshooting. They isolated the fault to a bad ABS actuator. They had to overnight the part, and spent a day and a half installing it. Sounds like a major project!
This noise started this week. Grinding when I take my foot off the brake when in park and parking brake set. What is causing it?
A guy at work said brakes. The front brake pads were replaced last year. Original rear.

I have recently purchased a 2007 Gen 2 Prius and sometimes it emits a very annoying squeak. It occurs when the car is stationary, with the brake pedal fully depressed. When inside the vehicle it seems to be coming from behind the glove box. When on the outside and facing the car it seems to be coming from below / behind the electric motor. I have made a recording of it with the noise in question being audible for a couple of seconds at 0:13, and then again at 0:22 until the end. It could be nothing I guess, but this is my first hybrid and I am not too sure what is perfectly normal and what is not.
View 14 RepliesNot brake squeal but a squeak that is emanating from the drivers side springs or shocks. There's no noise while driving or stopping, just when you come to a complete stop and inertia sends the car forward slightly you can hear it.
