I (or rather my dad) have a 2007 avalon limited. I'm trying to install a backup camera for him. I don't know if it's something I did now but I see the outer reverse lights (on the car body, rather than trunk lid) don't come on as they should. Also any tips to install the video interface and/or camera are extremely welcome - it can never be too basic!

Today when I rotated all five Turanza tires (RF > SP, RR > RF, SP > RR, swap L, as per the manual), I noticed the left tires (only) have exaggerated outer edge wear. All three from the right have even wear.
Wifey says it's because I weigh 400 lbs (181kg) and am generally driving alone. When I'm not alone, my passengers are all normal weight. This would be the first time in my life my weight cause uneven wear to tires.
By the way, these tires are LOUD on certain road surfaces.
A/C wont work. The freon is empty no visual scratch or leak found pipe or condenser. I haven't check the evaporator, the latter may be tough to check as it sits inside the dash.

View 3 RepliesI am driving a 2007 Avalon XLS with about 71,000 miles. These lights came on together yesterday. After consulting this forum, I checked the gas cap and found it was indeed loose (or at least had not been engaged with any of the "required" three clicks.) I closed the gas cap tightly and restarted the car. The lights promptly came back on.
I drove to AutoZone where someone pulled the codes: P0306 and P0356. They gave me a printout suggesting the number 6 cylinder was misfiring (P0306) and an ignition coil circuit fault (P0356).
DRL quit working on my 2008 Avy.
View 6 RepliesI had a burned out left low beam headlight on my 2007 Toyota Avalon XLS yesterday. I have the halogen (2006) type bulbs. Today I purchased two new low beam bulbs and installed both sides new while I was at it. I had disconnected the battery and replaced both bulbs. Now the headlights (both hi and low beam) work perfectly in the auto as well as on manual mode, however my fogs lights now don't work. The fog lights worked last night prior to replacement of the low beam bulbs. So I checked for continuity of the fuse and both fog light bulbs and all were OK.

I presume it's not the fuse because according to the owners manual the 7.5A fuse also controls dash light, power outlet and flashers and they all work. Could it be another fuse, or something else? View 3 RepliesCheck engine and VSC lights came on wife's car, took to dealer, they hooked up computer and now stating that the Evap system has a leak. They want to replace the Charcoal Canister and they are quoting $900.00.
View 5 RepliesBoth brake lights not working. Center brake light works. Cruise control and shifting out of park OK. Fuse in brake circuit OK. Brake light switch is OK: I opened it up and the contacts are OK. Continuity is OK. Bulbs OK. Tail lights and reverse lights OK.
Car was rear-ended by a Durango at the bumper and boot lid about 2 years ago, but there don't seem to be any wires in the effected area. Battery changed 2 months ago: no problems with re-boot.
So I'm thinking short in brake circuit, but the center brake light works, and the fuse is OK. Is there a brake light relay? Inspection due.
I recently noticed that both reverse lights on my wife's 2010 Santa Fe are dead.
It's odd that both bulbs would burn out at the same time. So I checked them and they're both good. The bulbs are not burnt out.
What should I check next?
I looked up the fuses in the owner manual, checked those, and everything looks good there. There is a relay as well. I swapped that with a similar relay in the fuse box, but that made no difference either.
I suspect it's the reverse switch on the transmission. Ours is a manual transmission. How to locate and access that reverse switch?
Is this a issue? I know it's not normal but is it worth a trip to dealer?
View 9 RepliesFor the past couple of months my 2005 Avalon XLS has developed a clicking or knocking sound when I am turning right. I especially notice it when in reverse and turning right. Not only can you hear hit somewhat, but I can feel it vibrate through the brake pedal. It does do it while driving, but it is more noticeable when in reverse. It is also most noticeable when moving at slow speeds, such as in parking lots. It will also do it if the car is angle parked and the wheel is turning right.
Thus far my mechanic has replaced the struts, the linkage assembly, and done some work on the steering column. I'm tired of paying my mechanic to simply swap parts.
Like a dummy I left my 2011 in drive overnight and didn't go out to drive it until this afternoon. It wouldn't start. Tried to jump it with a Camry and still would not start, but inside lights did come on. Do you think it's the battery? Should my next move be to get a car battery charger and try to charge it? Battery looks new. Car is less than a month old.

I can see it disco the wire but can't get it out to test, how it comes out. Also my vcs abs and traction lights are on. Local parts store wants 132.00 for it.

Then a few miles down the road, I'd hit it again and it would work just fine. Today I tried to turn it on and nothing. Three different trips today and no luck.

I checked and yes I'd left the light switch on, and yes the car had shut them off correctly - but will it also turn them on and then start the car ? Seems like a needless strain on the battery .
