I have a 2002 Camry xle v4. It has a hesitation at low acceleration. I've replaced EVERYTHING: Mass Flow Sensor, 2 O2 sensors, plugs, etc. This past weekend I changed the plugs again with a better quality than before and the hesitation went away....for 2 days! Now its back.

I have recently noticed a hesitation under acceleration. It happens most frequently under hard acceleration under lower RPM, if I'm close to lugging the engine. The engine "hiccups," almost like it is missing a cylinder. It will hiccup 2-3 times until engine RPM's increase, then smooths out.
What the cause may be? Last changes: Plugs at 175K; Plug wires @ 160K, Fuel filter @ 100K, Timing belts at 60K, 120K, 182k. K&N air filter cleaned at 50K intervals, last time @ 200K.
Lately I have been having some trouble with 2002 Oldsmobile Alero v6. When the car is sitting in park I have noticed that the engine idles roughly, And when I try to drive it, the car hesitates on the acceleration every now and then. Also the emissions light (the orange one) will come on for awhile and then dissapear. At first I though it was dirty fuel injectors so I added some Fuel injector cleaner, but that has not fixed the problem. I was thinking the park plugs may need replacing?
View 1 RepliesI have a Honda Accord EX 4 cyl. 2002. It has sluggish acceleration and hesitation problems. I put in new plugs and that improved it some. My mechanic says I should pay him to clean the fuel injectors. What will work best? What needs to be cleaned? Would new plug wires work? Gumout? Big differences in cost.
View 2 RepliesThe problem starts after about 5-10 mins of start up and normal driving. First signs usually come leaving a stop light or stop sign. Hesitation, jerkiness, rough acceleration. It's usually slight, just enough to feel it. Soon it really shows up while keeping the truck at a steady speed, say 40 for example.
I finally heard what I would describe as a puffing air sound and figured vacuum leak.. finally! Nope.. it's coming from the rear underneath of the vehicle. I can't hear it in the engine, or the tail pipe.
2002 Ford Explorer xls 4.0 125k miles, I've replaced the air filter, egr valve, pcv valve, cleaned the maf and covered about every hose I can reach with carb cleaner checking for a vacuum leak. I've yet to try some of the other things due to hearing that puffing sound.
My 2002 V4 Camry has developed a consistent hesitation. It only occurs during the first 15 minutes (or so) after cold startup. I've replaced: plugs, 2 O2 sensors, Mass Air flow, and EVAP Canister.
Am about to try the throttle position sensor.
I just bought my 2002 camry 9 months ago and have had it into at least 4 different shops and the last two visits were a toyota dealership. Problem, traveling at 30'- 40'mph, car has slight hesitation and slight surge feel. It feels as if passenger is messing with a driver's ed brake? Problem is sporadically intermittent. Dealership did update ECM, but not sure what they did. What to do next so my car will roll smoothly and I can love my camry?

View 1 RepliesSo I have had my 02' Camry for a little over a year. Love the car, it is a 2.4L SE with a 5-speed manual. Recently it has developed this mystery misfire/hesitation under a load and at idle with the AC on. I replaced the plugs with OEM Toyota Iridium and it seemed to clear it up for about a month, but now has come back. If I start the car and turn on the AC it will intermittently start to miss but not only when the compressor is engaged and it does it every now and then under a load specifically in 4th or 5th gear under a load with lower RPM's (under 2000).
The check engine light is not on and hasn't as much as even flashed on at any time so there must not be any hard misfire codes. I want to stop by Autozone and see if they will scan it to find any stored codes but haven't had time. I would think that if it was a coil pack that it would be a hard misfire. I'm stumped. This car is in great condition...no oil leaks, interior is near perfect (replaced a worn shift knob, and door panel pieces around the window switch). Also car has 160k miles.
I have a 2002 Camry, V6 1mz-fe with 110k miles, recently developed a vibration which only occurs on acceleration, consistently noticeable at 2100-2500 RPM during acceleration. Acceleration above or below this RPM range is smooth otherwise. Coasting and braking are smooth. This vibration has never happened on the car before, which has been smooth all 110k miles prior.
The vibration was initially pretty bad, felt through the car, steering wheel, floor, and seats. I have since replaced both CV axles and wheel hub bearings, with some improvement. Also got new tires and wheels are fine. I replaced a bad dogbone engine mount at the top passenger side a few thousand miles ago.
Other considerations at the moment include bottom engine mounts, since my dogbone went out before. Other Google search suggestions include spark plugs, exhaust pipe bracket, transmission mount(?).
What could cause such an RPM specific vibration/shudder?
My Camry has about 338K miles. Started making an engine rattling noise on acceleration. suspected worn timing components. I have all timing components off now. Of course plastic chain guides are worn, tensioner plunger seemed to be a little rough in actuation, exhaust cam sprocket does show signs of wear. I dont know for certain that replacing all timing components will clear noise. Questions are: considering mileage should i just replace all the timing components or the likely cause of the rattle noise(whatever that may be)? Should i replace the oil pump while i have pan off? How much trouble would it be to pull head and do valve job at this point? Lastly....2002 Camry has the 2.4 VVTI with the intake cam sprocket. How do i replace this sprocket and is it difficult?

View 13 RepliesHave 2014 XC-90 w/10k miles. Problem is sporadic (has happened approx 10-15 times over past year).
From standing stop (stop light, etc) -- press on accelerator and VERY LITTLE to no acceleration. Engine continues to run smoothly -- no indication of fuel starvation, no roughness --- just no acceleration. It does NOT appear to be transmission oriented because when it finally "kicks in" there is no feeling of transmission shifting or wild tach movement (to indicate that there was a changing of the gears, etc). I get things back to "normal" by pumping the accelerator (usually a reflex action because the are vehicles behind me wanting to "go"). VERY disconcerting issue.
Local Volvo dealer says "cannot find any error messages", etc. My only complaint with the car -- second XC-90 and 5th Volvo.
My 01 alero 2.4l has some hesitation at takeoff, i have changed the plugs, boots, and fuel filter, and used fuel system cleaner. What could be causing this?
View 1 RepliesJust purchased a 2014 Yukon XL it is has a bit of hesitation upon acceleration. Did not think much about initially but it is a bit bothersome. I have an 02 Suburban and never had that issue. I did also notice the same issue when test driving a 2014 Suburban.
View 1 RepliesI have a 04 santa fe 2.4L 4cyl. I recently did an engine swap, old motor threw a connecting rod. I put my intake, exhaust manifold and head on it. Timed it. All new gaskets. Turn the key and it fires right up and runs great. But when you accelerate it sounds loud (almost diesel like) and doesn't shift at the right time, also while trying to cruise it will drop about 300 rpms and then come back up, then back down and up every 3 to 5 seconds. The transmission was fine when the old motor came out. The head/intake were fine also. All the vacuum lines are connected, cant hear a vacuum leak anywhere. But it keeps throwing a throttle body sensor code and it wasn't broken when the old motor went, i even swapped another used one on it and it still throws that code. I am thinking it has to be intake related.
View 4 RepliesMy 2001 VW Passat 1.8T manual transmission is experiencing loss of power/hesitation during acceleration. Occasionally the check engine light will blink for about 10 seconds during this time. My valve cover gasket blew about 7 months ago. I had it replaced along with 2 ignition coils. Since then I have had replaced the other 2 coils and spark plugs because of this recurring problem. I have also replace the mass airflow sensor for the second time. The diagnostic check continually shows misfires in different cylinders for which I again tried replacing the coils. I have also received the codes for "fuel mixture too lean" as well as for too rich. What could be causing this?

View 14 RepliesI have a 2009 Tiguan 2.0T Gas 2WD Tiptronic Auto.
I noticed a while back on a cold morning that at first start the idle would seem off a bit.
I only would notice it for about a couple of minutes and then it would smooth out as I began to drive.
Lately that still happens some but mainly I have some hesitation or slight jerking as I accelerate now.
Mainly it will do it while starting to take off slowly/ when pulling a hill/ and when having to maintain a low speed behind many other cars.
I can counter act it a bit by stepping harder on the gas pedal(when there's room) and getting the RPM to go and stay over 2000 like on the highway.
If it is under 2000 RPM you can notice it pretty well.
I am concerned as I have not had this problem before and it is very well maintained and cared for.
Though it is likely due for a tune up...
What could be the most likely cause? I don't really want to take it to the dealer first as they would want a fee beforehand just to check it out.
It had a check engine light on for just a minute one day but it did not stay on.
If it stayed on then I could get the parts store to check it using the OBDII scanner.
