Black paint flaking off the mufflers. I was hosing the car off I hosed the black part of the mufflers and paint started coming off. Looks like hell now. I plan on cleaning them up and putting a few coats of flat black grill or high temp paint on them.
View 5 RepliesSo it looks like my truck has a new issue. I thought I had picked up some white paint from the road, and somehow kicked it up onto the black underside of my driver's door. When I looked closer to see how I could clean it up, I realized it is actually the black coating peeling off of the white paint. What I have is exposed white body paint in a stripe on the bottom of my door. I checked it a little more closely, and there are several other areas on the door where this is starting to happen as well.
View 13 RepliesProblem with the paint chipping/flaking on the hood of a 2010 LE? I have three spots, about 1/16"-1/8" on my hood that have chipped/flaked and you can see the primer. I don't think that I have been hit by flying debris but that's not to say that it couldn't be the case. I'm thinking of mentioning it to the dealer when I go in for my 20K service just so it is on record should there be some future TSB/recall for a paint problem. Car has been on the road for 18 months.

View 5 RepliesMy wife and I noticed that our passenger side wheels, both of them, are flaking paint... We've got an early VIN '04 Touareg. We're fixing to take it in for 10K maintenance. We are not avid off-roaders, however we HAVE gone off-roading twice with it and I'm sure hoping that isn't why the paint is flaking.

View 24 RepliesI was out and about yesterday running errands and I had to parallel park my car. Well, I got in my spot fine and I was sitting in my car getting some packages ready to be dropped off at the post office. About a minute, after I parked, I saw someone attempting to park in the spot in front of me and she couldn't do it. She attempted it 5 times, all while I'm sitting in my car, worried that she's going to hit my car.
So on what was her last attempt, she backed up dangerously close to my car causing me to reverse further, forgetting that there was a high curb next to me. I gave it a little too much gas and I scratched the crap (4 inch x 1 inch) out of my bumper/side. How to fix this without breaking the bank unnecessarily? .
I know it's a typical new car issue but every time I look at my car I see a new chip. None of them are major, usually just some missing clear coat but yesterday I found one that looked like it had been masked with fingernail polish. How do I remove this without damaging the paint underneath? Also, how do I level the repair after the clear coat?

View 14 RepliesMy RC-F has like 8k miles on the odo. I first noticed it at around 6K miles and I thought my RC-F had picked up some "small pieces of wet tissues or some white paint from road construction". But upon closer examination it is the black paint across the black bumper behind the massive grill peeling the black paint thereby revealing its original white paint.
My front end looks like a Dalmatians dog with black and white spots.
I did not hit anything. Dealer is fixing it under warranty. So will wait and see.

what are some methods to have the original chrome pieces such as the front grill and window trims painted into glossy black. I called my paint guy and he told me chrome pieces are not 'paintable' and that I shouldn't go that route.

View 14 RepliesI think I heard this noise before but I didn't pay much attention until a few days ago. I thought the garage door makes that noise when I close the door.
When the engine is off, whenever the last door is closed, the popping noise occurs. The noise gets louder if I close the door harder.
When the engine is on, it's the opposite. The first door opened causes the popping noise.
It's a 07GS350AWD.
I just used ArmorAll cleaning wipes on the dash of my 2012 corolla and as soon as it dried out I noticed black scratches (thin black lines) as if the gray paint came off. I don't know how is possible. Even if the wipes had a problem, I don't think dash paint should get scratched so easily.
View 8 RepliesIt appears it is mostly surface rust and am looking for something relatively simple to fix it. I would prefer to use something in aerosol cans since it is small amount of total area, maybe Rustoleum products?
I will attempt to remove as much of the rust as possible with circular wire brush on drill but feel there will still be little crevices that I won't be able to fully clean.
I'm also interested in knowing what I should use to harden the surface to prevent the excessive chipping of paint in this area.
I have a '98 Camry. The windshield and side window rubber gaskets/molding is cracking, and there's paint peeling on the roof. I have 166k on it and it runs fine. Do I need to do something about these issues? I'm concerned about water leaks (not yet), but don't care about it cosmetically.
