I used to drive a manual shift Honda Accord. When I was starting the car on snow, I often put the car in 2nd gear, and it was much less likely for the wheels to spin. I now have a 2014.5 SE. I believe that older generation Camry has a switch that allows the car to be start in the 2nd gear, but it seems that the feature is gone with the 7th generation. Is that true?
View 7 RepliesSo i just had my torque converter recall done yesterday but before that happened i told the dealer that iv been experiencing a chirping like noise when in gear and when tapping on the gas. It's very quick and goes away once i ease off the pedal. Anyways they told me it could be the transmission. Mind you i had my car for a year. I bought the car brand spankin new and currently have 19,000 miles. All they said was oh hey come back if you still have that noise which i do. So im thinking they didn't even look into it because its pretty obvious the noise it makes. Im wondering what this could be?

View 7 RepliesI have had my manual 2014 four months now and still can't get used to the fact, that to engage reverse you have to move the stickshift FORWARD into the same spot as first gear. I have had a half dozen near wrecks because of this.
View 5 RepliesI just bought a 2014.5 Camry SE and the day I drive it off the lot I noticed it shaking at around 40mph. I made an appt. fort the following week and they said the found all 4 tires had flat spots so they replaced all with 4 new tires. Well, about a week later the shaking started again. Now it's worse than before, especially at higher speeds. I dropped it off today.

We will be taking our car to the dealership tomorrow for cleaning... It is frustrating since it is a brand new car,and we are all suffering from allergies....
2012 F150 5.0L ... Running the stage 3 motorsports Tune on the SCT X4 device ... Noticed higher gear while going up a hill the motor is Pinging. Running 89 Sunoco fuel for two fill ups in a row and I have the 89 Performance tune loaded. It would not surprise me if the Gas station is selling 87 for the 89 Price!

View 13 RepliesMy Car has 86k miles on it. I went in last week to get the Torque Converter warrantied and replaced. It would shudder when slowing down back into first gear. After I got my car back it seemed to be worse than how it was, also the alignment was terribly off... I called the service manager, he told me to bring it in the following Wednesday... Over the weekend the car stalled 3 times.
I pulled codes P1603 (Engine Stall History) and P1605 (Rough Idle/Knock Control CPU) which were VERY generic. They also broke my Intake Air Box Clips and Latches. I dropped the car off for 2 days and got a free TRAC (Toyota Rent a Car). After picking up my car they said it stalled 2 more times... They told me they realigned the car and reset the ECU, but they should have reset the ECU after the Torque Converter Replacement. It also threw a P0302 too. It still shudders when slowing down till this day.
Is there some sort of number I can call to talk to Toyota Direct and get this situation solved? Dealer doesn't seem to care...
This really isn't the first time I've had trouble with this Dealer. I had an 04 Solara go in for a Dash Replacement and they scratched the Radio and put a hole into my tweeter. This 2012 Camry went in for an Airbag seat sensor recall and the hit it against another car. It left a terrible dent. I don't want to have a transmission failure prematurely...
We have a 2012 camry with about 65,000 miles on it. Recently we've noticed that when the car is in a high gear (5th or 6th) and the RPMs are around 1000-1200 the car feels like its sputtering/shaking. almost like its in too low of a gear. Kind of feels like you're driving on a very rough road.....it happens when you're driving around 35-45mph with your foot barely on the gas. if i give it a little more gas to get the RPMs a little higher it's ok. other than this the car runs perfectly fine. Don't notice any issues on the highway. I don't have any CEL.
initially i thought it had something to do with the torque converter issue that folks were notified by in the mail. we already had the update done but that's not it. The more i research this i think it's probably a fuel/spark issue like dirty injector or bad wire.... I dont think its the trans.
I have been reading some topics with people having issues with their Camry transmissions and torque converters. I have 15000 miles now and I'm noticing not as smooth shifts anymore from 1st to 3rd gear. It also jerks a little when you suddenly step back on the gas.
View 10 RepliesI just got a new 2014 camry LE. Overall it is what it is and I am very happy with it. However one thing that is got me annoyed is that there is a hiss coming from ALL speakers. Even if the radio is off the hiss is there. Basically after some experimentation, any time the head unit is completely booted up the hiss is coming from the speakers.
To make sure it is not just my car, I checked out a few more LE from the dealer and they all hiss from the speakers when the head unit is on.
Havn't had a chance to get off work to go to the dealer yet but a buddy at work tells me his older Bimmer had a similar issue. For him, it turned out to be the amp was set to max so that max volume would be achieved. For him he was able to adjust it.
Do the Camry's have a similar adjustability? I'm willing to sacrifice sound level for no hiss.
The Sonata offers a lot of bang for the buck and a great interior. How woukd you compare the Sonata with the Camry?
View 14 RepliesI just did a drain and refill method on my 2014 Camry SE last weekend. However, after measured and calculated, I took out 2qts 1.5oz, but I only pumped in 1.95 qts. So, now the fuild is about 2oz off. Later, I took about 100 miles trip, car shifted fine.
I planted to do a drain and refill again next week. This time, I think I will carefully measure how much fluid is out then pump in the same + 2oz.
I still not sure if that enough, my question is: Can I buy a thermal gun and then measure the temp of the transmission pan, then perform checking fluid? Should it correct?
I have a problem with my 2014 camry. Yesterday out of nowhere, my dome lights wouldnt shut off.. I checked all the doors, made sure they are all shut.. but no luck.

1) Will the Avalon 17 inch wheels fit my camry?
2) Can the current lug nuts be reused, or do I need to get new lugs?
3) Can the current TPMS sensors be transferred to the Avalon set
I bought New Camry 2014.5 LE. Most of time, my wife drives for short commutes to train stations and work. Its been 1.5 year and it still has less than $10K miles.
I feel it hesitates when I push the accelerator all the way quickly, then jerks. The engine revs up the moment I step on the accelerator but it hesitates before it actually picks up speed. If I step on the gas gradually, its fine.
I have Rav4 (4 Cyc) which does not behave this way.
I took the dealership and asked about it. The tech says it is drive by wire system so unlike old cars, which respond very quickly, may hesitate and considered normal. Some online article says the car's software learns a driving habit so it depends on the driver too but many other postings also suggest its a software glitch.
Is it really normal, a feature of 6 speed or is there a technical service bulletin addressing this issue so that I can show to the tech? Eco mode is turned off.
I have about 3,000 miles on my 2014 Camry and the tranny just doesn't "feel" right. Seems clunky and the car lurches a bit when you need to accelerate up a hill. I traded in my 2007 Camry for this car and the '07 performed far better.
