I'm having issue with my Camry making noise recently. It usually happens at lower speeds ~50km/hr, city driving. When going over bumps, rail road tracks, bridges, etc. it makes a metallic clinking sound that kinda lasts when the car is bumping up and down, if there are multiple bumps, it seem to be worse.
Going at highway speed and on smooth roads, doesn't seem to be much problem, or it occurs much less frequently.
Just bought a 09 Camry, 40k miles, nice car. Drove it very little before I put on the winter tires, different rims also. Notice a terrible vibration at lower (more of a pulse) to mid speeds, it smoothes out at 60-70 though.
I've read HIGH SPEED BALANCING, which I had a garage locally balance it on his machine, I think that is HS balancing? I believe the tire spinds at 50-100 mph??
Purchased a loaded SEV6 with 60k a couple months ago. It's a pretty car, but I'm a little concerned about the transmission's behavior. I previously owned a 2000 Camry LE 4 banger and even at 140k it shifted effortlessly. So it comes as a surprise that my new car hesitates, hangs, and then snaps into gear. This happens mostly at lower speeds, between 20 and 40 I'd say. It's actually given me a noticeable jolt a couple of times. This seems out of character for a Camry, no? I couldn't find any info on TSB's for this. What could be going wrong?

View 13 RepliesOccasionally, when braking at lower speeds (i.e. coming to junction) I get feedback through the pedal almost as if the ABS has kicked in....braking is not very effective when it happens. I can also hear a pump type noise going. If I lift my foot and re-apply it clears and normal braking returns. In fact, sometimes I can hear the pump noise going even before I brake....always at low speed (sub 15-20 mph) doesn't happen when driving at higher speeds.
View 17 RepliesA few weeks ago we notice a noise and grabbing from the front wheels. Noise was at lowers speeds only. Dealer did the following work.
Replace steering lock assembly and program
Replace left and right lower arm bushings
Replace outer cv boot, grease and repack
Extended warranty covered only steering wheel assembly and car rental.
They also said that the tires need it to be replace due to capping. Tires are only 9 months old. Replaced tire under warranty Potenzas G09 and di alignment that was way off. Two months ago was ok and drove less the 1,500 miles...
New to the R, and recently the transmission seems to be making some noise throughout lower gears at low speeds, when the clutch is engaged the noise goes away, I figured it was the throwout bearing, but now my transmission now refuses to let me into 2nd gear and also reverse.
I changed the transmission fluid hoping it would eliminate the noise a bit, and saw very small metal shavings in the old fluid. I'm now worried I have a serious transmission issue... Are these signs of major transmission issues or should I be checking linkage? Any common transmission problems with the R I might be experiencing?
Recently purchased an '05 GLI (my second mk4) and it has the stock RCs and Eagle F1 tires. They are good on tread, wear pattern, and pressure, but seem to be making an awful lot of road noise, especially at lower speeds and decelerating to around 20 mph. as I read in one post "it sounds like a semi-truck". When I test drove the car it was still in winter mode and there were no noises or pull and so I do not suspect any mechanical issues.
It does not result in any real vibration that you can see in the wheel, but you feel the buzzing. the steering is straight and true as well with no pulling left or right. IT'S JUST LOUD!! lifted the front end and shook the front wheels. the bearings seem nice and tight with no wiggle. I was going to remove the tires and rotate, or put on the spare to see for a diff, but the BBS tool for the center caps is a POS and I couldn't get them off. So ultimately I'm looking for some vortex advice on this noise, its causes, remedies, and and anything else I should be looking for.
My 2007 Hyundai Elantra SE (Automatic, 69,400 miles) makes a grinding noise when I start to accelerate from 40 mph. I sometimes hear a noise that sounds like an airplane wheel being activated when I'm driving at lower speeds driving around town. Could this be the transmission? Who should I take the car to?

View 2 RepliesMy fiancee has a 1995 Toyota Camry that she uses as her work vehicle and yesterday the car started making a clinking noise from the front that I thought was a broken CV but after going to 2 mechanics we were told it was something with the transmission but neither mechanic did trannys so they wouldn't go any farther into it. When put into gear it there was a loud clinking sound that sounded like it was coming from the front driver side wheel and the car wouldn't move. Before spending the money and bringing it to the only transmission specialist in town I figured I would try here first because I have learned specialist usually means more money, especially when your the only specialist in town. Is there any common issues with transmissions that would cause a clinking or metal on metal sound?
View 19 RepliesExperienced rumble type noise, like if you drive over those highway rumble things on the edge of the road. It happens at low speeds like 30 mph or lower and more prominent when you come to a stop. It came on all of a sudden . Replaced new tie rods, dampener and stabilizer bar links and still have it. Tires wear great and thought the hub's were still turned in as it sounded the front differential drive line was going around. This is on a 2002 F250 crew cab.
The complete tie rod kit that connects to the the pitman arm isn't cheap, it did need replaced as there was a lot of play in it but damn, when on a set income and it still have same problem , very upsetting. On social security disability and I told them that I can't keep spending money on parts that they told me were bad and it didn't work. Everything is tight on the wheel according to the tire shop , it takes me a while to get underneath and I can't find anything .
So, my Camry just started making a noise today. I was able to find the exact noise it was making on YouTube, to use as a reference for you all. Basically, it's a low pitch whine that raises pitch during acceleration. Once at highway speed, it's completely gone (probably due to ambient noise).
No CEL or any other warnings. I just hit 75k on the car, and from previous experience, it sounds like it could be related to a bearing in the alternator.
Today we heard what sounded like a flag pole clinking while driving in a parking lot. Turns out the sound was coming from my Prius (2010 III). We then heard several sounds, going from the clinking to what sounded like something falling off and something possibly dragging for a few inches. When we stopped to check, we found a large amount of pebbles resting in the belly (body? undercover? the black plastic parts on the bottom?). Tapping the plastic would cause pebbles to fall out.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2012 f150 supercrew ecoboost with 6,000 miles on it. I just took it into the dealer for a clinking noise from the rear end. It happens when shifting between D and R and during dowshifting at low speeds. They said that ford is aware of this noise but does not have a fix yet.

After walking around a bit, I found it coming from the underside of the back of the Camry. I got in and turned the key to the "on" position and it went away. The car had been parked for about 5-6 hours. I've never heard this noise before.

View 2 RepliesThe last couple of days I've noticed a metal clinking noise coming from the right front wheel area when I go over bumps. The best way I can describe it is what it sounds like when there's a loose washer and nut on a bolt. A metal on metal sort of thing. Tonight I was able to replicate the sound I heard by pounding on the tire and got it on video and posted it below. Watch in HD to hear the sound I'm referencing clearly.

1. Just had spacers installed a few days ago
2. Also diagnosed the "clicking brake while turning slowly" issue. Thread about it here: [URL] .... Wondering if this has anything to do with the noise.
I have an appointment with Lexus tomorrow morning to have the brake clicking fixed under the TSB and several other issues addressed. Mostly rattles...
I have this noise that is cumming from under the car about dead center Engine area its only heard while driving and more as the car has been driven for some time. From speeds 20mph and above only when increasing speed or when full throttle. It wont do it in park or revving it i jack up the car front end and put in drive only front right tire turns but still no noise(is there away for the left tire to turn). Everthing works normal the noise is low and at times only.
2.4L Sonata 68000+miles.
I'm going to start tearing into my wife's car this weekend because the bearings are making an awful grinding noise at low speeds, so I feel like this needs to be done soon.
I bought from rockauto new hubs and bearings, but looking at them, it seems like the bearing goes over the outside of a shaft on the hub. Other that than, I'm not really sure how it all goes together until I look.
Just curious as to whether this can be done without a press or any special tools? I have an impact gun and all the sockets one could need, but I don't have a hub puller or bearing press or anything like that.
I've done a bunch of searches but can't seem to really find the answers I'm looking for...
