I just recently put a jl8"w7 in my truck and this thing make my car rattle like crazy not just the trunk lid. The worse part is the rear deck below the back glass, any quick fix before I start tearing things apart?
View 4 RepliesI have an issue with what sounds like the rear deck rattling in my 2010 SE Camry. I can hear it almost every time my back wheels hit any small bump in the road.
I also have subwoofers installed along with dynamat in most of the trunk (just not on the rear deck). This is my main reason for wanting this solved. The rattle is very noticeable when the bass hits in almost every song. Is that where the rattle is coming from?
So I tried removing my rear deck but was unsuccessful. I removed 4 "screws" when folding the seats then the ones inside the trunk but it didn't come off. Did I miss anything that is holding it down?
View 4 RepliesI just noticed during my recent road trip on vacation that my interior rear deck (behind seat) is very sticky to the touch. Had the car about 6 months but never noticed until I tossed a gray fuzzy blanket on it and saw a lot of dust and fuzz from the blanket was sticking to it.
View 31 RepliesI had a 12" sub installed in my trunk & was getting a horrendous rattle from the rear deck area. My first instinct was to put Dynamat everywhere but after some googling i ended up filling the underside of the rear deck area with trashbags!! I pushed 5 of them through the opening where you access the 3rd brake light & it now it sounds perfect. I uploaded a video to youtube with a sound test.....
View 6 RepliesOver the past few days I've been working on the car, a Canadian 2014 Elantra L 6-speed, in an attempt to install the keyless entry system into it.
- I found a wiring diagram online and for the most part its been working, gotten the tail lights/siren and just about every feature working excluding the doors themselves locking and unlocking.
From what I can tell, in order to get the mechanism to operate correctly a relay is needed and needs to be hooked up into, correct me if I'm wrong as the car isn't with me currently, Plug A and B (59 Pin and 24 Pin). However no matter the amount of configurations I have tried, it just will not work.
*Do not care for the trunk opening operation.
**The system I currently have is a Spy la-3 Pke keyless system.
I installed my dome light, map light, and rear license plate LEDs with no problem a couple of months ago. When my LEDs for the vanity lights came in today, I immediately went to install them. The first one on the driver's side was installed without a hitch, but after I installed the second one on the passenger side, none of the interior lights worked. The only difference in installation I can think of is that I disconnected the light on the passenger side as opposed to keeping it plugged in on the driver's side.

View 1 RepliesFor a project I started, I need to remove the plastic cover from the inside of the hatch. I think many people did that to install a rear view camera. Looking for pictures, simple instructions set, or a reference to a repair manual that would clearly explain how to do that.
View 7 RepliesMy Elantra SE interior mirror has had an annoying problem from new: it rattles. Usually doesn't start until after many minutes of steady driving. Then gets loud enough to be a real distraction, and even to interfere with outside sounds - a safety issue. I've wiggled the mirror to all sorts of positions, but only touching it continuously damps the vibration - not good for a stick-shift.
Since it takes a while to begin rattling, it has never happened during regular service appointments. The mirror is not user-serviceable; a special tool is needed. (My dealer doesn't even have one; they get mirror work done during occasional visits by a specialist.) They wouldn't replace the mirror on my say-so, saying I needed to call Hyundai.
So i'm only a week and a half into owning my Elantra, 800km on it and today when i started the engine i noticed a clicking/rattling sound, like the noise when someone sticks a piece of paper into a fan. Anyway it's quite minimal and you could hear it louder when you accelerate. I never noticed it before, even when i test drove the vehicle.
View 3 RepliesSeveral times when I started my 2014 Elantra I herd a lot of rattling just like a diesel that lasted around 5 min. I recorded the sound and took car to the nearest dealer in about 100 miles. Two times I left over night so they could hear the sound in AM on first start up. But of course it didn't do it for them and they said they could not diagnose but they did hear clicking noise. When I played the recording said sounds just like a diesel. That's it they did nothing. Now it doesn't sound quite so bad just rattling and clicking. It only 40k miles and still under warranty to 60k. What should I do? Next nearest dealer is about 100 miles. I thought about trading it but I do like the car.
View 12 RepliesSo I used to have my phone holder clipped to the vents to the left of the steering wheel. Key words, used to. One day, one of the clips snapped as I was putting my phone into the holder, sending a piece of plastic about 2 inches long into the vent. At first I could see it, but since I was driving, I couldn't fish it out. Sure enough, on a turn, it disappeared completely into the dark void that is the ventilation system. Now, on every turn, I can hear the little sucker careening back and forth. Sounds like I'm gonna have to disassemble the dash to into the pipes, but maybe there's a more harmless way.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 4 door GTI. I'd like to install my daughter's front facing Britax child seat either in the rear right or rear central position. However, in either case, I'm finding that most of the rear weight ends up on the headrest and I would like to simply remove the headrest from that seating position.
I read in the user manual that to remove the headrest,I pull it to it's highest position and then push the button on the right side of the plastic entrance of the head rest into the seat, and 'simply' pull the headrest vertical out of the seat.
This is similar to how this was done in other cars I've owned. However it is not working for me with the GTI. Once I pull the headrest to the highest possible position I can get to, I press the button but the headrest simply refuses to come out. I've tried this on the other rear seat and same problem. With the middle rear seat I can't seem to pull the headrest out beyond its lowest position.
I just purchased a 2009 Hyundai Elantra a few months ago.. I have been hearing a rattling/ clunking noise around the rear glass area. I brought it to a local dealership and they thought that it was the bracket for the trunk lid rods. They replaced the bracket and the noise is still there..

Just recently I heard a rattle that appeared to be coming from the rear of the vehicle, but after moving my head around I have since been able to isolate it to the sunroof right about the driver's head. I can reach up there an pull down on a metal hinge, and the rattling stops. Drives me crazy listening to a rattle right above my head.
View 14 RepliesTis the first of "Squeaks and Creeks" from me. Not really the best thing to hear, sitting at ~24K miles. Anyways, until (if) i can get a sound clip, I have this metallic rattle that only occurs about 1-3 mins after i start the car. This just started happening yesterday, and nothing out of the ordinary happened.
I start the engine, hear a raspy rattle from what sounds like under the engine, and if i give it some throttle it increases some, but not to the point where it sounds like something is banging around. It goes away after a few minutes so it could be anything. Shifts are still smooth, driving and getting on the gas does not fix nor make it worse, either in neutral or actually rolling. It simply goes away with 3 minutes time or so. It seems to have a limit for how much 'rattle' it gives off, and its something I can accept.
Did a search, did not find what I was looking for. How to remove the rear deck?

From day 1 owning the car used at 50k I hear vibration sounds coming from the rear deck (behind the rear seats but not inside the trunk) when moving from a stop for the first few seconds of acceleration.
what exactly is the root cause and how to fix it?
