I have a 2007Explorer it runs great but one thing while I'm driving the light in the inside would come on all by itself. It would go off like 30 secs later. It don't do it all the but it is a bit annoying. Why the light is coming on by itself?
View 5 RepliesThe problem started with ABS light on steady and traction light coming on and off. Had a private shop check the codes and he cleared the codes. The light was out, then came back with the ABS pump running constantly, even with the key off. Had to pull the fuse to stop the pump. The code was C1095. Replaced the ABS module. Now the ABS light is blinking and the traction light is on constantly. Codes shown are P1000, B2477, C1095, and B2290.
View 5 RepliesFor the past few months, there has been a clicking under the dash of my 2005 explorer when the **** is turned on heat. It always clicks and it can usually be stopped by playing with the heat a little but today I was driving and I lost my heat and the clicking got worse. I took the trim off and tried looking what was wrong but I could not find it. The clicking is coming from the drivers side right where the center console meets the dash and its coming from inside the heater box. I thought it might be a vacuum line problem but the clicking continues even after the car is shut off and the vacuum lines drain. It must be some kind of electrical problem....
View 2 RepliesProblem is two fold. First......my grill "Ford" emblem is chipping and fading. Second....there is rust along the inside edge of the tailgate near the weep holes. I have been told the rust must perforate the area in order for it to be covered by warranty. Truck is pretty close to pristine condition and two service reps said rust is coming from the inside of the tailgate. Doesn't make sense to me to wait for the rust to get really nasty before it being covered by warranty. I bet a new tailgate cost more than that!!!! Hey whats the deal with the eroding "Ford" emblem??? Looks like the coating is flaking off and letting the blue paint fade away. I don't think this is normal but that too doesn't seem to be covered by warranty !! Maybe I should think twice about my next vehicle !!!!! Comments ??????
View 14 RepliesI have a 99 Ford Explorer - w/217k miles. (2nd owner) .. I got an oil change 3 weeks ago, tune up 2 mos ago, and new brakes/tires within the last 6 mos, oh, and Brother-In-Law just recharged my a/c last week.
Runs well, and I hope to keep it for another few years, but having problem lately.
Check Engine light keeps coming on - I've taken it in, and they read the code, and it comes up with a misfire. Mechanic resets it, and it will stay off for a few days/weeks, and then comes back on.
I have an issue with my seat moving and the dome light coming on while driving. This happened several times and I checked the fuses and for a possible loose connection. When I jiggle the key in the ignition the seat would start to move. I was trying to replicate the issue. Today the seat moved and the light came on but this time the truck shut off... I am thinking it maybe something in the ignition....

View 9 RepliesI have 2007 explorer 4.6 v8. The check engine light is on, and i can only fill the gas tank about 3/4 full, after moving the gas nozzle all around and taking about 15 minutes. I read a few different things while searching. Like vapor canister need to be replaced. or the vent hose needs to be replaced.

This is intermittent and seems to happen the most when the engine is cold. This morning it wouldn't go over 20 mph and finally warmed up and went well enough to get it home. And one more question: how can i increase MPG i got 4.0L but it consumes a lot: 9MPG CITY and 16MPG HIGHWAY.....
View 8 RepliesI've been getting a strange *whoop*-like sound inside the cabin of my vehicle.....very difficult to explain, and it occurs even when the stereo system is turned off......I hear a series of *whoop-whoop-whoop* sounds, sometimes just a short burst, other times they can last for 5 to 6 seconds. Try explaining that to your service department.....they think you are crazy.

View 10 RepliesOdometer light on my 07 f150 was coming on and off,read the thread here on how to change bulb. Got that done no problem but the odometer is now blank. Read the thread saying it was a common issue and to look for a bad or broken soder. My problem is i can't figure out how to get the circuit board off of the cluster after i pull off all the bulbs and screws. My local ford service dept wants to replace entire cluster at a hefty price.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 F-150 that I'm having a little problem with. The tire pressure indicator light has kept coming on almost every time I drive it. I checked the tires, all register 35 pounds cold which is what it calls for. It has been going on in hot or cold weather for the past 4-5 months but will go off after I'd say 5 or 10 minutes of driving it. I really can't figure out what is going on with it. Bad sensor maybe? I looked to find something about this but couldn't or I didn't look hard enough.

I have a 2001 Ex with the 6.8, stock motor, exhaust etc and I have had a rattle I have not been able to track down. I finally crawled under it the other day with a buddy (auto body guy) and we isolated the noise to be coming from inside the tailpipe, just about where it bends by the rear tire/wheel. I ran a fish tape up the pipe and it seemed to stop right in the area of the bend. My question is there a baffle of some sort in there?
View 2 RepliesStarted my truck (2007 EB 4x4, 5.4) this morning with my daughter in her car seat behind me, we get about 1/4 mile down the street and all of a sudden I notice myself moving!
My daughter starts freaking out, I pull over and my seat is still moving. I end up COMPLETELY reclined, all the way down and all the way back. The seat pinned my daughter in her seat, she's flipping out...I had to unbuckle her car seat while she's screaming because her legs are pinned and have to slide her car seat out sideways with her in it.
Seat does NOT move at all.
Now, before all of this I had heard a "ticking" sound coming from inside my seat, been doing it for months but since everything worked and not dummy lights came on I just ignored it. Apparently, this was not a good idea because now it is not ticking and the seat is not working....
when i bough the car i went on a test drive and everything was fine, once i bough it and went home my fiance opened the passanger side door to get in, and every sense than the door ajar light is on and the inside lights will never turn off and its draining down the battery, we have tried slamming the door shut and we just dont know what to do, theres not even a sensor botton to check out theres no way to tell what it could be for me as when i open the door to check out the botton like most vehicles do, there isnt one, what could it be?
View 9 RepliesI've been noticing some (a lot) of oil on the inside of my rear tire. I went ahead and drained my diff fluid to check if the was any left and there was but I replaced it and cleaned the tire (hoping I just drove through something) and it's back again already. I don't know much about axles, what seal usually holds stuff back in there? What parts should I expect to replace other than the seal and any brake components effected? I noticed a creak/crunch coming from that area but seems to crunch with suspension articulation so not sure if it's related but I have the feeling it is.

Suppose I will have to book it back in -I read elsewhere it could be cause by wheel alignment or faulty connection somewhere?

Anyway, my problem was my oil light coming on at idle. Initially, it happened to my wife and she called me about it, and I attributed it to the cold weather and thick oil maybe not pumping properly when the vehicle was cold. After driving it myself, I realized this only seems to happen AFTER the vehicle has warmed up to operating temps. Took it to the dealership, they told me it was a bad oil pressure switch, put in a new one and off I went. (Note: oil was also changed at the dealership when they put in the new oil pressure switch)
Here I am two days later with the same problem. Just about to work this morning and sure enough, the oil light came on again while stopped at a stoplight.
Attached a picture below of my dash...the light flickers and comes on when the idle drops. I've never taken notice before, but what is the actual idle speed of the 3.5L? When the light is on, mine is about 500 rpm...
Also, for those of you with a keen eye, note the distance travelled (238 kms) on my current tank of fuel. Cold weather + all short trips within city limits does not make for a happy Santa Fe.
