Is it normal for condensation to form and then leak under the compressor? it stops when the ac is off or the truck. I have a 2004 ford f-250.
View 3 RepliesI have a small oil leak that is showing up under my turbo compressor housing. It's starting to show a little in the valley. Not a big leak, just not sure were the source is and would like you opinions and recommendations. I have been cleaning it up every few days, drive it then use a mirror and rag to try and locate the source.
Here are some pics, I hope I took some that are good enough. Unfortunately I cleaned up the oil before the pics, but I circled and marked the location.
Concerned about the turbo, but I don't understand this leak since it's not coming from the center section. The turbo drain pipe is new and it does not seem to be coming from there. The leak is not enough to show a change on the dipstick the last 3-4,000 miles as far as I can tell.
I have a 2003 f250 6.0. Recently, I have noticed that my air conditioner will work at first but once the compressor cycles off it does not come back on. I end up having to turn the a/c controls to off and wait about 5 min then turn them back on and it will work for a about 5 min then blow warm air again.
This happens more when towing rather than just driving around. I have changed out the sensor on the canister but it was no dice. The system is charged to the correct level according to my gauge. This occurs more often on hotter days than any.
While the truck has been running and the system is malfunctioning, I have crawled under the truck and noticed the center wheel of the compressor is not turning but can be turned by hand. Do I need a new compressor or am I missing something else that would be simpler?
I have been dealing with a oil leak for quite some time now, oil seeping from what appears to be around the cam sensor. About a year ago I pulled the cam sensor replaced the o rings that were cracked and split out figured that was my problem. drove it for another year continued to have same seeping oil leak. cleaned it up real good dyed the oil and checked again and seems to be same issue same spot around cam sensor. Pulled it again o rings are perfect but it seems as if that is where the leak is seeping from based off the uv dye I used. is there something else right around the cam sensor that I am missing that could be the cause? I have checked ipr, crank, dip stick, hpop cover, valve cover, glow plugs, a few other spots and have found no other leaks from any other than around that came sensor.
2006 F250 6.0 King Ranch
My 6.0 has been leaking oil for a couple weeks now, possibly longer judging by the staining underneath. Very slow leak. 1 drop hits the ground when I get off work and go to get in the next morning. It never really reads off the dipstick a drop in the level. I had to top up the oil yesterday but that is from about a 2-week span. But I want to get it fixed. I've attached pictures of where it's coming from and was hoping to get pointed in the right direction. Also its a 05 f250 and coming from the driver side.
View 14 RepliesI have a O6 F250. Egr delete and a new oil cooler 20k ago. I have been dealing with missing coolant for about 6 months. A little here or there but it has gotten really bad the last few weeks. My last attempt was to replace the degas cap. Stopped the missing coolant for a 30 mile trip. Just to clarify it had gotten to the point I was adding one gallon per 20 miles. Needless to say I was thrilled. Next morning I came out to find coolant under the truck. Plastic Y under degass, so I replaced it. 25 miles and none missing. Next morning fluid under the truck. Now it's the egr hose.
Replaced it with a gates hose and new clamps. Fill it up with coolant go inside and its leaking in the same location. Its a pure pleasure to undertake. So I assume these leaks weren't previously leaking because the degass cap wasn't pressurizing the system. That being said the leak is on the oil cooler side of the egr hose. The snap lock fitting that was on the original housing spins around. Should that locking mechanism be removed before the hose is secured and clamped? This is the only thing I can come up with as the culprit. I have searched the information on the site but can't find any mention of it needing to be removed. The clamps are the right width and everything is seated.
We got "bad" gas in Feb, 2016, had to replace entire fuel system. Haven't driven the truck but 4000 miles. Last week, she started spitting and sputtering and lost power. We could see fuel pouring out. NO CEL. Towed (AAA has paid for itself several times over with this truck) to dealer that replaced the fuel system, still waiting to hear from them. Does this sound like it should be under the warranty for the work they did? We have averaged a huge repair bill about every 3-4 months on this truck, 2011 F250 Lariat, 8cyl, 6.7L, since we bought it 2 years ago.
View 1 RepliesNoticed oil on the underside of the engine last oil change, took to Ford dealer for repair under extended warranty. Got a call back today, stating the the oil leak is coming from a injector on the drivers side, and that the injector seals is not covered under warranty. I'm having an issue understanding that oil leaking out from around the injector is not covered under a power train warranty.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 F250 with 6.0 and almost 175,000. On vacation right now and noticed when I came out of a store that there was a puddle of water under the passengers side. Chalked it up to AC defrost. The second time I was not running AC and puddle again.
Felt and smelt of it...antifreeze. Just put in all new Zerex G05 and a new degas tank because when working on it I noticed a pin hole in the base before we left. I replaced the EGR cooler and hose from Sinister about 3 plus years ago.
Would the EGR cooler hose be leaking? I've noticed that white residue on top of the intake around the where the hose is. What would cause this, Heat, wear and tare....my luck ?
I have a new *to me* 2005 F250 and last night I noticed there is a leak around the brake fluid reservoir where it connects to the frame of the truck. Everything seems to be in good order not sure exactly whats causing the leak. It only when driving and for a short while after shutting the truck down, everything seems to be in good order but still it drips a lot.

Anyways before I started using it I started tearing things apart cause I knew for sure the turbo was leaking so that had to be resealed. I just picked up a 2003 turbo today for it out of a used truck that had 144000 kms on it. (was in an accident). I am gonna post up a few pics here of the engine bay area, there is a huge amount of old oil I believe to be, I am wondering if it was a leak or spilled oil. I am going to be cleaning this up. Putting 03 turbo in here, doing a service and then plug my Tablet with torque pro and post up some numbers and see how healthy she is. Before I post any pics Is there a way to make these pictures clickable instead of them taking room up on the page?
View 14 RepliesI just purchased a used f250 6.0L a week after having it i noticed a small oil leak slowly got worse (looked as if it was coming from the too rear of the engine) then noticed about a half quart of oil under my truck. While driving it home the oil pressure gauge kept dropping then going back to normal then eventually dropping for good. The truck still ran so i drove it to take it to the mechanic but then the throttle began to become unresponsive and then gain power again then finally the truck shut off and wouldn't start again, blowing oil all over the inside of the hood and top of the engine. I checked it and noticed the pressure sensor pigtail were fraid so i replaced that along with the sensor and added oil but still wont start.
View 10 RepliesI recently purchased my 2011 F250 Powerstroke a week ago today with 87000 miles on it. the dealer assured me they did all the maintenance on the truck before i was able to drive it home. I noticed on my dash that it kept popping up i needed to change oil soon.. so i got out to investigate and realized i was about a quart low on oil so i looked around more and am seeing that i have a leak coming from the back of the engine running down to the oil pan.. I have not noticed any on on the ground at all but what this leak is coming from...
View 14 RepliesThis is is a truck I hardly know anything about. My wife bought it while I was deployed for herself and when it comes to vehicles she's an idiot. No, really she told me she bought it because at horse shows everyone else has one.
I noticed an oil leak and had a reputable shop look at it. They told me it was coming from some seals on the turbo. Long story short there is a brand new turbo on there, stock replacement. Now it seems very under powered and shifts hard. Pressing down anything more than 25% throttle will cause hard shifting or no shifting at all. It'll stay in second until I ease off the throttle.
I tried searching a few terms but I'm not sure what to look for. I don't know if someone has messed with the tuning. Broken clamp on the turbo. Replaced and everything is back to normal...
I have a oil leak that I can't seem to find it appears to be leaking down above the passenger side valve cover and then goes under the engine cover. I don't notice much oil in the valley. This is a 2011 f250 6.7 with 116000 miles on it. I have had no other problems with this truck. Could this be the turbo lines? I am on a RV trip several hundred miles from home so I have very limited tools. The leak doesn't appear to be bad at this point the valve cover is wet with a small drip but it's only in the middle. I just changed my oil prior to the trip when I noticed the leak. I did have a leak on the new filter but a new filter fixed that but still have this one higher up.
View 14 RepliesI've got a leak that appears to be coming from the secondary fuel filter housing (the one in the engine compartment)... It's not coming from the filter, but from the side, where there are 4 allen bolts that attach a fitting to the side of the housing...Can I change out the gasket for that piece? I've already tightened the bolts, but the leak persists.
View 14 RepliesI dropped the F250 (30k miles) off at the dealer yesterday- in the last several days I've noticed a small leak puddle under the front drivers side frame member. I asked the service writer if they had had many trucks in for the radiator leak and he said "no". He has heard the waste gate solenoid buzzing the last two times I've stopped in for routine service and had said they would fix it when I left it with them.
View 9 Repliesjust picked up a 2004 (May, 04) F350 DRW with the 6.0 Powerstroke. I love this truck so far. After sitting in the driveway overnight, I noticed a decent sized puddle of oil on the driveway, probably the size of my fist. I took several pictures for diagnosis:
Any quick thoughts as to where this oil leak is originating?
I'm working on an early 2004 6.0 currently. The guy was driving down the road when it cut back to nothing but an idle and now is a no start. In the four months it's been dead, they've been able to tell him fuel pressure is good and they found to broke wires. So watching numbers while cranking on it, ficm says yes, voltage is at 48, Icp desired was over 1600, Icp actual is just cresting 550-600 where the engine is just about to start. So that tells me it has a hpo oil leak. I pulled the oil filter and held down the valve and had someone crank to test low pressure just in case. So I pulled the passenger side valve cover and it's an 04 so no standpipe, it's a high pressure line, I capped the line off and cranked watching numbers and Icp actual climbed over 900 and she fired and ran, on the driver side of course. So this being an early 04 with no dummy plug or standpipe, the only hpo oil leaks left are the oil rail nipple o rings and the top injector o rings correct?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2004 F250. Owned it for a little less than 4 miles (186k on the odometer) .. The other day making a routine run and the radio goes out. Stopped to check it out and found I had no power windows either.
Made it home, checked the fuse on the radio and its good and the the power window fuse is also good. Put a meter on the terminals and have no voltage going to them. What I need to look at???
I have a 2004 F250 6.0 DuperDuty with about 170,000 miles on it, so far no major break-downs, just a starter and a blinker relay, but now I have a problem.
When I start now, the truck starts fine and it sounds fine, but it has almost no power even if I floor the gas peddle, there is a delay of like 2-3 seconds and then responds slowly, like some tractor. Eventually it starts to move slowly, and after it warms up (after a few minutes), the gas peddle responds more normal.
Also - at about 45mpg, at lower RPMs about 1250, the engine starts to shake (weird), it doesn't do it at idle about 850 RPM, or when I get it up to about 1800RPM+, but at about that 1250 RPM it does do it, luckily I driver locally for a few miles.
What could this be ? What exactly happens when I press on the gas peddle, what systems are involved and in which order?
