just picked up a 2004 (May, 04) F350 DRW with the 6.0 Powerstroke. I love this truck so far. After sitting in the driveway overnight, I noticed a decent sized puddle of oil on the driveway, probably the size of my fist. I took several pictures for diagnosis:
Any quick thoughts as to where this oil leak is originating?
Just asking where about's the ficm relay would be under the hood of my '04 6 liter, I have 3 boxes to chose from.
View 9 RepliesI'm working on an early 2004 6.0 currently. The guy was driving down the road when it cut back to nothing but an idle and now is a no start. In the four months it's been dead, they've been able to tell him fuel pressure is good and they found to broke wires. So watching numbers while cranking on it, ficm says yes, voltage is at 48, Icp desired was over 1600, Icp actual is just cresting 550-600 where the engine is just about to start. So that tells me it has a hpo oil leak. I pulled the oil filter and held down the valve and had someone crank to test low pressure just in case. So I pulled the passenger side valve cover and it's an 04 so no standpipe, it's a high pressure line, I capped the line off and cranked watching numbers and Icp actual climbed over 900 and she fired and ran, on the driver side of course. So this being an early 04 with no dummy plug or standpipe, the only hpo oil leaks left are the oil rail nipple o rings and the top injector o rings correct?
View 14 RepliesI have not been on here for a while my X has never had any problems 140,000+ miles. yesterday went out side to start her and let it warm up went back inside to make coffee came out 10 minutes later and found a server oil leak pouring out under the truck. Immediately turned her off popped the hood and found oil all over the back top of the motor? before I start tearing into it, need to know where to start. I've read IPC sensor, CAC hose, anything else to look for?

View 3 RepliesI have an oil leak on a 04 f250 6.0 stock. It has 292000 miles on her. It started as a few drips on the pavement about the size of a quarter and now has escalated to a steady trickle. It's on the driver's side in front of engine running down the corner of the block and dripping off the oil pan. I pulled intake plenum and everything and I thought it was coming out of the valve cover but now it looks like its just under the valve cover. It looks like its coming out of the front corner of the head. Its wet there and looks wet around the glow plugs. I cant run it now as I've drained the oil and coolant. I don't have a gauge or anything and its plain stock.
View 14 RepliesWhile servicing the bosses 121k 6.0, I noticed the coolant resevoir empty. It took 1 1/2 gallons to bring to proper level. Returning under truck to install drain plug, I noticed coolant coming from rear of the engine(right side). And of course Ford has changed the cooling system cap, so I wasn't able to pressure test it to pinpoint the leak. Started the engine and seen coolant coming from the left rear as well. I've been reading here to see what others have been seeing, (EGR cooler, head gaskets). With all the heat shields,not much room to look.
After work I did go and buy the adapter to test the cooling system. With any luck I will be able to see leak better.
Trying to locate my a/c drain tube on my super duty. Noticed the other day no water draining with the a/c running. Wanna check to make sure the tube is not clogged.
View 14 Replieswas looking for the oil pressure sensor and can't find it got it narrowed to 2 there is a sensor between the the oil filter and fuel filter i think thats the temp sensor and then there's 1 at the say 11 o'clock position behind the the oil filter...both have a 2 pigtail connector.
View 4 RepliesI've had a 2007 Coachman Freelander class C RV with E-450 for about 8 months now. We have been on 7 camping trips to the same location this summer, and the engine has sputtered in exactly the same place on 6 of these trips. It's pretty freaky, like the road has bad mojo there.
We have to come down a steep incline for about 2 miles, dropping about 500' vertical at about 6500' elevation. Then we drive for 2 miles on the flat before hitting a big mountain climb up to 7500'. About 30 seconds into the climb, the engine will sputter, and kick out smoke from the tailpipe. The first time I pulled over, and it idled fine. I took off and climbed the hill just fine. Now I just drive through the sputter, and it goes away after a minute.
So what's happening? Is the fuel tank sloshing crud around? I never get a water-in-fuel alarm, although the E450 doesn't have much of a message center. It doesn't happen on other sections of mountain road. This rig has about 38,000 miles, and is bone stock. I put new oil and fuel filters in before the summer. This rig is the same size as my old '82 RV E350 w/ 460, and boy is the 6.0L an improvement!
The tech folder "Coffee Table" book link is broken - no more visual aid from there! So, Looking for a copy of the illustrations that show the EGT sensor locations?
View 3 Replies2012 F350 Lariat - want to install cab lights. Can't locate correct wire to tap for power. I want to use the same power that powers the parking lights so these come on as they should. Is the best connect on the driver or passenger side, and what color wire is it? I've read yellow with green stripe (and found about 4 of them) and a brown wire I couldn't find.
View 1 RepliesGot the upgrade done this week to allow manual regen. Instruction sheet says 'press the 'Info' button until 'EXH FULL XXX%' illuminates. Not sure I have that button. I've scrolled through everything in the info center and am seeing nothing under any menu item that gets me even close.

View 4 RepliesWhere the air intake for the cabin air conditioning system is? The past several trucks I've owned had a cabin air filter which I replaced annually. They get filthy and I can see why this dirt should not get into the evaporator coil. It will reduce air flow and here in Texas we need all the air flow we can get (106 today). It shouldn't be too hard to improvise a filter to wrap over the intake (for a cheap fix).
View 3 RepliesHave a 2010 Lariat crew cab and I just bought an upfitter switch set and relay harness. Found where to mount the relay block and have been able to get the switch panel installed in its home. For the life of me though I cannot find the plug in the main harnes under the dash to plug the relay harness into to power everything up. I've read several threads here and even found the drawings that indicate plug #C215 in a diagram for the 2011+ trucks. When I get access panel out and look underneath the dash where it should be....no spare or open plug. Is the plug location diferent in 2010 from the 2011?
View 2 RepliesI'm looking to use a 5V location for the Dash Boss fuel pressure sensor. I know most of the sensors (except the CMP & CKP sensors) use a 5V reference voltage. Which one to use? AIT & EBP are close to the sensor mounting location.

View 14 RepliesTrying to locate the wires for the 4 Auxiliary switches as I want to tie into #4 to the 10 amp switch. This is on a 2015 F350 with a 6.7 engine. Book says the wires are located to the right of the glove box door and just above the passenger side kick panel. Tried this location with no success.
On my 2009 dually the wires were easily located on the drivers side on the firewall in the engine compartment.
I cannot locate a picture of where the manual 4wd shifter mounts up to the transmission.
I am finishing up 4wd'ing my F550, but am not exactly sure how the shifter bolts up. Can someone take their boot and bezel off and take a couple photos of how the shifter mounts to the 5R100W by any chanc?
