Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: ESOF Hub Clicking - How To Repair / Rebuild

I was hearing a clicking noise on my passenger front wheel when rotating by hand.

Paul suggested I remove the ESOF hub and see if it is the wheel hub or the ESOF hub. It's the ESOF hub.

So I'd like to rebuild it for sure, it also has a nicked o-ring, so that accounts for part of the vacuum leak

I'd like to service the driver's side, too, while I'm at it. It doesn't exhibit any issues, so just regular maintenance stuff there.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: How To Switch Out Of 4WD When ESOF Is Broke

My ESOF crapped the bed as the truck was stuck in 4 Low. I took the transfer case motor switch off to access the gear underneath it.

I'm able to get vise-grips on it but it only turns clockwise. It keeps turning to a point it won't turn anymore and, if I let go, it will switch back to its original position.

I can do without 4WD until I get ESOF fixed, but is there a trick to manually changing it to 2WD?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: ESOF Won't Engaging Hubs?

I have my vacuum system back up and working and using my vacuum pump I determined my lines are all good. They hold a vacuum fine, but my ESOF isn't engaging my hubs. I guess that leaves either the selector on the dash or the seal at the hubs.

If it is the selector, I should just be able to just disconnect the vacuum line at the selector and use my pump to engage my hubs. How much it is supposed to take to activate the hubs?

I am thinking on installing a shutoff in the vacuum line that supplies the hubs so I can use 4LO for backing uphill with a trailer without having the hubs engage. Its either that or a switch to disable the PVH solenoid.

My ESOF won't engage, AC/heat blowers default to defrost - classic symptoms. And while we can leave without AC/heat, we really need the ability to engage 4x4 low, especially as we get higher into the Andes and the roads become rough.

My shift indicator switch on the trans seized up, so a local trans shop replaced it for me. Now I get no low range when I select it. I understand it needs to see the truck in neutral to do this, is there a simple adjustment? The trans shop is a long way away.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Engine Rebuild But Won't Start

2002 7.3 rebuild and installed in the truck but won't start ... Everything is new other than hpop and injectors they came out of a perfectly running engine.

The truck is making enough oil pressure to fire the injectors the first couple cylinders then it quits kinda like a cold start with bad glow plugs. Fuel pump was working perfectly when the engine was taken out of the truck and is still building pressure enough to get some black smoke from the exhaust after cranking for about 15 seconds ...

The hpop reservoir full every time I check it and after cranking for about 15 seconds the oil gauge in the dash for the lpop jumps up to its normal place.

Injectors got new o-rings when they were taken out of the running engine. I'm not sure what else could be keeping the truck from starting.

I have this 99f250 and it has a 273f, the transmission side of the case has threads stripped so I am about to remove and retap them. While its out should I consider rebuilding this thing? 197k miles, operates decently although the rear bearing on output side is my first thought to replace from mileage only.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Torque Convertor Rattle After Transmission Rebuild

My '01 f350 up and running the last 5 years. The truck has 130,000 miles on it and the transmission quit on me two weeks ago. My mechanic pulled the tranny and sent it to a very reputable rebuilder for a complete rebuild. My mechanic then reinstalled the tranny. I picked up the truck and when I paid the bill my mechanic told me that the rebuilder provided a new 4-plate torque convertor and that I would hear it rattle when I was at stop signs, stop lights etc. and that this was normal for these types of torque convertors. I have searched this forum and found all kinds of reasons for this rattle. None of which tell me this noise is normal or should be expected. I have no problem going back to my mechanic and discussing flex plate cracks, engine/tranny misalignment or any of the other causes...

Now that I have been driving for a while I kept seeing this light come on/off and I did a video below - I don't generally flash my lights so don't think I am aggressive - but I wanted to make sure to capture the video and the light coming on.

I was thinking valve cover connection the 50 cent mod - and maybe it's all coincidental - but I did have to pressure wash the troph where the oil collects and maybe something else got knocked loose.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2002 - Vibrates When Throttle - Rear Differential Rebuild

My truck (02 7.3L cc) started making a grilled ding type of vibration when I would let if the throttle. I felt the axle going into the rear differential was a bit loose, so I took the cover plate off. The pictures below show where the pinion I think is hitting, sort of like the bearing is allowing front to Rear differential scaring from movement. Rear movement.

How difficult is a rebuild, and is there anything I should be careful of?

Parts came from Riffraft Diesel Performance. A set of "o" rings for the injectors. High flow CVD fittings for the fuel lines. Turbo rebuild kit. (its got 210,000+ miles) Anti Surge compressor wheel.(ok its not part of the oil problem)

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2001 - Got P0605 Code - Repair?

I've had a CEL for awhile so I final had it checked. It is the P0605 pcm memory error. He cleared it to see if it will come back. There isn't any chip or never has been a chip in it as far as I know. If it does end up being the pcm, what are my options? can it be repaired? Do I need a new one? Can I get a used one and if so what are the criteria I need to look for, for it to be compatible?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: White Smoke / Clicking Noise And Steadily Losing Power

I have a 7.3 Excursion, 234K Miles, 4R100 Transmission. Today I was in a rush to take one of our dogs to the vet, when I hit overdrive going up a hill, it almost sounded like a clicking noise and I was steadily losing power. I came to a stop sign and put it in park and it started to develop a constant lope that was rough. Whenever I would step on the gas it would put out white smoke which it has never done before. I was able to take it a couple miles before it did the same thing except this time it shut itself off.

Recently I have been having transmission issues as it feels im losing first gear. A while back I noticed it would idle slightly in park every now and then. A couple days before this happened, I came to a stop and my truck started loping slightly and first gear IN DRIVE felt very very weak. I have recently replaced the cam position sensor as well as the ICP sensor. I'm at a loss, I plan to do a ZF6 transmission swap very soon and this is only making me panic even more.

I never dog the truck, take it mudding, etc. Oil is changed every 3-4,000 miles. I did however get it scanned a while back and I believe two codes came up for two pistons, also did an injector buzz test and they all sounded strong.

2003 7.3, AC compressor clicks like crazy. Can he hear outside the vehicle while idling?

The round disc on the front of it is what is making the noise.

The AC used to work awesome but now only blows cool air for about 10 minutes then turns lukewarm.

Is the clutch on my compressor bad? I have heard they can be adjusted, but not sure how.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Cranks But Won't Start - Relays Clicking?

So I have recently did a body swap on my 7.3 I rolled. Put a body from another one this one. Before I took the old body off the engine ran fine. Nothing wrong at all.

Now that I have the new body on, I am stuck with a fuel shutoff switch. I read that it is suppose to be pressed down, but when it is pressed down, I turn the key and 4 relays under the hood click rapidly, 2 under the dash, and the drive side blinker blinks? Anyway, when I push it up, and turn the key, all the lights come on normally, wait to start light comes on. It'll crank good, the battery's are good, had them tested and fully charged. Checked ando triple check all battery connections and grounds. Anyway, it'll crank and want to start it fire up for a second and die. The low pressure oil gauge on the dash doesn't go up, but I think I broke the sensor connector for that. The fuel pump doesn't make any noise, the fuel bowl has fuel in it, but does fill up with fuel. So I'm thinking the fuel pump is somehow shorted out, so when I depress the fuel shutoff switch it makes everything go crazy. But even then the fuel pump doesn't make any noise?
