Drivers side turn signal does not work, and blinks fast when turned on. The brake light on that side and hazards do not work. when I unlock the car with the remote, it lights up fine.

View 2 RepliesMy wife has a 2009 Ford Escape limited with the six and awd. Lately with all the snow we have had we have found that the 4wd will not engage. I don't hear any clunking noise coming from a possible axle failure or the PTU grinding. Just how does the AWD work on these newer escapes. When does it know to engage? My mother in law's 01 is very trustworthy and keeps plowing the roads while our 09 sits at the road parked. With the surprise snow fall we got today my only alternative was to fire up the Duramax and pull it up our driveway to the street. Something that I can do in the driveway? I'm in hopes that I hay have overlooked something.

View 4 RepliesI own a 2001 V6 Ford Escape XLT, although that's already likely far too much information for this weird issue I'm having. It's been going on for a while now, steadily getting worse.
The issue is that the driver's side window will easily roll down, but becomes unresponsive when I click the button to bring the window back up. At first, I could simply press the button a bunch of times and eventually find success. Now, if the window is rolled down, I have to get out of the car and move the door back and forth while furiously pressing the button. Eventually, I'll find a spot in the door's swing where the button will finally make a connection with *something* else inside the door and roll up the window.
What could the issue be? Seems like a clear electrical issue, and something that would occur in the joint of the door, since opening and closing the door is the only way to eventually establish an electrical connection.
I have a 2003 Escape Limited 4WD with approx 163K on the clock. It developed a tranny leak from the front driver's side axle. The seal is new and in good shape as I just replaced the axle and seal a few weeks ago. (I checked the shaft size and surface finish of the axle and it is in spec.)
I just removed the axle tonight and discovered that the problem seems to be the bushing just inboard of the seal in the tranny. The axle has movement up and down when inserted. (Not good!) This is allowing the fluid to leak from the seal.
Here are my questions. Is this a simple DIY fix using a slide hammer type of puller (or similar), or is it time to take it to a tranny shop. I can not seem to find a replacement part listed anywhere.
Also, with this much mileage, should I have the tranny reworked as a precaution if this repair requires dis-assembly or should I just address the leak and think about dumping it? I would prefer to keep it as my kids are now driving age and this is primarily their vehicle. (It has been a great little truck!)
My front interior light/map lights combination does not come on when the doors open. The rear seat and cargo area lights work when the doors open. Do the front interior lights are not designed to work in conjunction with the other lights when the door is opened?
View 6 RepliesI have checked all wires for krosion and fuse's are good so confused! Just put brand new tail lights bulbs in! The top one comes on as a running light but nothing else works. I also checked under hood fuses too!
1.Only Hazard light that works is on the Right Front passenger side.
2 Drivers side Brake Light & Turn Signal Doesn't Work. But passenger works fine! Left turn signal is out and blinks really fast!
3.Passenger Side Overhead Outside Light on cab is out . Okay that's probably just a bulb!
I need to find a diagram of the door panel on the drivers front door. Need to see how to remove the switch bezel to check the power window switches.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2000 Sierra and my driver's side brake light won't work but the light bulb is not bad. The Passenger side light, however works. What should I check on the truck to solve this problem. Would it be between where the bulb snaps in and where the plug for the lights plug into the truck under the bed or should I check something else?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 escape. The red brake warning light in the dash is on. I have changed the low brake fluid sensor and disconnected the parking brake switch . It is not on when first started but comes on shortly after starting to drive (within 100 feet). Do these things have a proportioning valve and a sensor in it?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2009 Ford Escape Limited with 3.0L. When Idling the Battery Light will turn on and stay on and when driving above 45Mph the light will turn off and then turn back on several miles down the road. After taking the car to Autozone and having the Alternator and Battery checked, I was told that the Voltage Regulator was bad and that I had to replace the Alternator due to the Voltage Regulator is not a serviceable part. After replacing the Alternator the battery and charging system is reading 13.86v (steadily) and when idling for about 5 minutes the Battery Light will come back on. I drive about 200 miles daily and do not want to get stranded... What else could be the problem?

View 14 RepliesMy Ford Escape, 2009, with 93,000 miles seems to be running fine, but I have had it in for service with my regular mechanic because the dash is lit up with the drivers airbag icon, the ABS icon and the hazard control icon (car with squiggly skid marks to the left of the steering wheel). My mechanic said he checked it stem to stern and can't figure it out. I maintain it on schedule, always have. I am hesitant to drive it too far from home, but, today took it about 30 miles out and back and it drove just fine...so why the icons all over the dash??
View 8 RepliesEvery time I step on the brakes, there is a bright spark in fuse #13. My brake lights, turn signals and hazards don't work. At this point my truck isn't drivable.
According to the owner's manual in my truck, says circuit #13 is for "stop lamps, CHMSL/hazard, trailer tow stop lamp, and speed control."
I'm assuming that the hazard part covers the turn signals as well, but I know the cruise control works even when the fuse is blown. I used it last night on the way home (this was before I realized I didn't have brake lights).
So I know I have a short somewhere. The only mods I've done to the lights are aftermarket headlights, but if the fuse only gets blown when I step on the brakes, I don't see what that would have to do with it. Also, the lights have been installed and working for about a month before this started. The only thing that I did around the same time was install the gauges. I ran the power to them from #5, the customer access circuit.
Are there any other "common" areas for this to happen? I already removed the rear brake lights and it didn't work. I am quickly running out of 20A mini fuses.
I recently got an Escape and I am having a issue with the cruise control. That being, it doesn't work. The control module under the hood is all hooked up, the linkage the the throttle body and all. No broken cables.
The brake lights work as intended, and only when the brake is applied. On the inside, the dash-light cruise indicator works fine.
I ran the diagnostic by holding the off button and turning the key on. The cruise light flashes and I begin the sequence. I noticed I was pushing the brake out of habit while running the first few tests. They all returned 2 flashes upon completion of the diagnostic. All other buttons were registered.
Now the strange part, when I took my foot off the brake and did the same test, the final result is three flashes of the cruise light. I understand these flashes represent a fault, and I am having a hard time as I cannot find one.
What do these results mean? I'm thinking the brake being applied gives a fault surrounding the fact that cruise is disabled when the brake is applied.
My ford escape tailgate switch stopped working, the glass worked fine and opened with the switch. I ruled out the fuse as both I believe work off the same fuse. I removed the back panel to access the mechanism and found that, I could get the tailgate to work if I disconnected the wire from the glass tailgate switch and as the wire connector (shown In picture) was reinserted it would energize the tailgate switch and I am able to open the tailgate. What the actual problem is. I initially thought that it could be the tailgate switch itself but having seen what is happening I really am at a loss to what is the problem....
View 1 RepliesChanged front brake pads yesterday. Took calipers apart, used c clamp and old break pad to release pressure from the cylinder. Installed new pads. Brakes felt spongie. Drove truck forward and backwards hitting the brakes. They tightened up some what but still spongie. Drove truck with no change. Decided to bleed front brakes. Now I have NO brake pressure at all.
*rotor on left side did have small groove but was not replaced... would this possibly be contributing to my issue.
I have a 2004 F150 XLT and the passenger side tail light doesn't work whatsoever. The light does work for hazards, turn signal, or when braking. The passenger front turn signal works, so does the front and the driver sides tail light. Only the 1 tail light doesn't work. I bought a new brake light bulb and it didnt't fix it, so i swapped the drivers and passengers bulbs out, and it still didn't work. I replaced the 10 amp fuse (#36) in the fuse box. What is causing the problem.
