The front door on our '99 explorer opens, but it pops open at the last bit of handle pull. The handle lifts a lot and just before the handle seems like it won't pivot or lift any more the door finally unlatches. I am sure something is simply wearing out, but where would be the most likely suspect?
View 2 RepliesSo when I get out oft Mazda cx9 I lock the doors and then check if the doors are locked by pulling the door handle. And then the windows roll down by themselves. It freaks me out because what if someone else comes up to the car and is able to open the window? So I went to the car repairman and they say nothing is wrong and it's not possible to make the window roll down from the outside. What am I supposed to do?

Door is unlocked and opened fine from inside.. what could this be, and is it something I can repair fairly easily, or might it be under warranty as I have the warranty still..this a common problem, seems unusual to me...

View 13 RepliesSeveral months ago I noticed that the fuel door switch on my '09 Sonata started to work worse and worse... would take two, three, four hits before the lid opened. Fast forward to now. While the door opens perfectly fine with the manual release (in trunk), the button no longer works no matter how many times I press it. When depressed, no noise is noticeable in the fuel door area. What the root cause is and what the fix should be? Is this something only a dealer can properly diagnose? The trunk release button still works fine both on the remote and in the car.
View 5 RepliesOver the past month or so, my 2012 Prius Three is being strange. I always keep my key fob inside my purse. Sometimes I have to pull the door handle a few times before it will unlock. Other times it will say key not detected when I try to start the car. I will have to try a few times before it will start. Or the strangest thing is, sometimes when I pull over before my husband and I get home, and when he gets out of the car (I have NOT turned it off) it will display the message, key not detected.
The thing is, he does not carry a fob with him, the only key is in my purse, which is inside the car with me. I thought maybe it maybe it was the key fob so I swapped out the fob I was using with the 2nd one we have and it is still happening.
I'm a new prius owner. I noticed that when I'm driving and the doors are LOCKED the door will open if I pull the handle. Only the drive and passenger side opens when LOCKED in drive mode. The back two door DOES NOT open when LOCKED in drive mode. Is this normal?
View 4 RepliesI traded my 08 R32 for a certified 2013 GTI Autobahn 4 dr. and have noticed a few quirks or issues. I have had several Vw's and my wife currently has a 2010 Tiguan SEL awd. The car goes in on the 10th to see what the dealer can find out. I bought the car with roughly 9400 miles and it has 11,300 on it now.
Issue 1 - The passenger side door handle does not pull smoothly to open. When you pull on it it goes about half way and stops and then you have to pull it again or harder. I am thinking it is an alignment issue.
Issue 2 - When i first start driving after the car has sat overnight in the garage or in the parking lot at work I get a swirling sound from the rear brakes. I do set the parking brake every time it is parked. It is almost like the brakes are not releasing all the way or rub for a little.
Issue 3 - This is the one that is odd and concerns me. When i first start driving the car takes several minutes to come up to 190 degrees. I baby the car till it gets up to temp for the turbos sake. But oddly after it gets up to temp with in 5 minutes it is like the thermostat opens and it cools back down to 150-160 and then comes back up to temp. My wife's car does not do this and neither did the 07 Passat 2.0t. Is this common? When talking to the service advisor (who I have been dealing with for a while) he said he has never had this issue come up.
I had my '09 F-150 Super Crew lock punched out on driver side door. To prevent this from happening again, I am replacing that handle with a handle for the rear door that has NO lock. I will no longer have key access to the truck. I am also ordering a spare remote. Is there anything I should consider before following through with this decision? Why I shouldn't do this? Is this a common thing to do?

View 13 RepliesJust replace both ebrake cables, and rear brakes are all new including wheel cylinders and drums. No matter how much i pull up on the handle, the wheels wont lock up, and they should drag the wheels, but nothing. Something wrong? Barely stops car when put in drive too. Seems like my other accent would drag the wheels all over the place.

View 1 Replies2004 F350 Lariat Crew Cab. My truck has been repeatedly attempted to be broken into through the keyhole. This time they fully punched it through the door, and now i have a hole where the lock should be.
I researched stuff like jimmi-jammers etc, but for the time being.. I am looking just to pick up a set of handles without keyholes. I have remote-less entry and keypad.
Couple questions... Would rear door handles off a crew cab, fit to the fronts? they look the exact same minus the keyhole.. and this would likely be the easiest to find.
Or... Is there any good websites i can take a look at that will manufacture keyless front driver and passenger side handles? They're textured black, and i would like them to match as best as possible.
My '99 Super Duty does NOT have power windows; old school cranks. The door panel(s) are "no frilz", no storage pockets. I want to know if it's possible to get panels that DO have pockets and will "fit" my crank handles?
I could always just drill a hole into a door panel that has the pockets for the window crank, but, they all seem to come with power window setups (opening for all the power switches). Also, where I can get rugs to cover the floor - I just have a rubbery/plastic surface.
Trying to replace a right rear door handle on my 01 7.3. Attached is a photo of the new handle with the unlock rod. Also is attached is photos of the door without handle. I pointed to the part that moves the lack to unlock.
Looking for the clip part number or photo that is missing. I thought a hose clamp would work maybe with a nut on the rod?
What it is or why there is a three inch pull handle hanging down on the bottom of the Diesel Tank on my niece new 2012 F350??? It is sitting hanging there begging to be snagged and ripped off the bottom of the tank!!!!! I'm at least going to Gorilla Tape it up to the bottom of the Tank.

The inside seems like it is locked but the locks are all working fine and all the other doors are working just fine .....
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Ford explorer sport. The liftgate handle no longer works. I took the rear panel off thinking it was one of the rods' clips were broken off. As it turns out it is the little pivoting bolt that attaches to the handle. It wasn't broken, but just disconnected from the handle. I reconnected it and it worked for about 6 or 7 opens and then it popped out of the handle again. I reconnected it and this time it only stayed in for 2 opens. What do I do here? Is there a way to buy that little yellow clip that connects the pivot bolt to the handle? Do I have to get this from a dealer or can I get it from an autoparts store? Or, can I just fix it somehow and not have to buy anything? Also, what is it called so I can describe it without a 30 minute story and sounding like a layman?
View 1 RepliesMy father recently purchased a 2012 Prius 3. To reduce his insurance premiums, he purchased an alarm system, which the dealer installed for him a few days after he first took the car off the lot. Now, when unlocking or locking the car from the driver's door handle sensor or via the remote, it both chirps (not the horn) and briefly sounds the horn twice or once, depending on whether you are unlocking or locking.
The problem is that when the car is unlocked from the trunk or the passenger door (using the door handle sensor with the key in pocket), this does not disarm the alarm, and the alarm will sound when the door is opened. The alarm is only disarmed when using the remote's unlock button or using the Smart Key sensor at the driver's door. One of the major differences between the 3 and 2 trims is that the 3 has Smart Key capability on the front doors and the trunk, rather than just the driver's door but the alarm has negated this benefit, as opening the trunk or passenger door without first unlocking from the driver's door or remote causes the alarm to sound.
Is this normal for a Toyota-installed alarm?
Just replaced the door lock up/down on a 2001 golf. After getting the door all back together I pulled the door open and the door handle popped out slightly at both ends. What happened? It now wont reset into the door flush like before.
